Thank you CG! I transcribed what Assistant Solicitor Chris Helms had to say with my favorite parts in bold:
"Yes sir, um, board members, I want to thank you for having us here. I want to thank for hearing from us. I can honestly say that in my years as a solicitor, um, as an assistant solicitor, as a criminal attorney, I've never been to one of these. But I felt it incumbent upon my office to stress upon this board, to you members, the severity of what we're here for. I know this is a nonviolent offense; that is not lost on me . . . One of the goals of the prison system is rehabilitation. We have no indication that Mr. Moorer has been rehabilitated. We have no indication that he has any degree of remorse for what he did. Again, I know this is obstruction of justice, but folks, he did not obstruct a shoplifting case. He did not obstruct a grand larceny case. This initially was a homicide investigation, that then morphed into kidnapping charges. I would like to remind you those charges are still pending against Mr. Moorer. And Mr. Elvis is absolutely right - his co-defendant was just convicted of those charges recently and is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence. Mr. Moorer, not only before the investigation, lied to law enforcement, during the investigation, but continues to this day, to hinder closure for this family."
