Fake abduction experiment shows dangers of social media

If you haven't seen this video, it shows how easy it is to lure a 14 yr old girl out of her house at night when she thought her parents were asleep. Not saying Jayme was online. It's possible to meet in other circumstances. Just saying how easy it is to convince a young person to do something.

This case is so bizarre to me. I keep thinking that LE has much more than they are acknowledging to the public. I'm hoping that anyway. How can there be no leads? Also, if they know that the murderer was only in the home for a total of four minutes, how could someone have been restrained and tied up in a chair and killed all within 4 minutes? I just don't see how that would be possible, unless they were professional killers. Any rumors that the wife was having an affair? Any major debts owed to people? Any online activities on Jayme's part? I just find it so mystifying how in today's modern world of science & technology, we know absolutely nothing.

Unless something got past me, there is no confirmation of restraints/tied to a chair. This is speculation, I assume because they removed a chair, which we discussed threads back as likely having bullet damage. I think we mostly settled on the 'ties' of that chair belonging to a cushion, which was removed separately by just cutting it off.

Unless you have a link?

Yes, everything you say is true, and out of respect for the family and the victims, that scenario of Jayme having a boyfriend should be left alone since it has been discounted.
While I respect your opinion, the theory of Jamie's possible involvement in her disappearance is moderator approved. That, too, should be respected.

You cannot be with a 13 yr old 24 hours in a day. None of us have been with Jayme or the family behind closed doors. We only give theories and speculate. The sheriff has not completely ruled out Jayme's involvement. Nothing has been ruled out. Thinking back to when I was 13, I actually left the house after my parents went to bed. They never knew. My friends also did the same.

Agreed. If LE had ruled out any involvement by Jayme we wouldn’t be discussing it.

Still wondering about the aunts directing their pleas to Jayme to come home, rather than directing their pleas to someone to release Jayme.

And when the aunt said she thought it was someone local, what gave her that impression? Also Denise’s brother sayinghe has an idea. Makes me think the family knows more than what we know.

We might not be giving Canines enough credit to solve crimes though. (JMO)

About Our Dogs (Text Version)

Fourth paragraph, BBM:
"A dog can use all of his/her senses, like hearing, seeing, and smelling to find a specific person or thing. To do this, though, requires a lot of training. They are always practicing, but the dogs love it because it is what they were born to do.

I want to know: If this is true, ..... could a pet canine identify a perp's voice?

At one point, early on, Sheriff Fitzgerald said "we've probably talked to the person who did this" . (Can't find the link right now.)

This implies that LE has talked to a lot of Locals while exhaustively pouring through their 2000 tips, and it is likely,....and they admit this, ...... that they might have already questioned the perp(s) without knowing it. (IMO)

There is probably no budget for this plan written below, because of the HUGE cost of dog biscuits, but in-a-perfect-world, ....... it would be great if .....:

a) LE picks the top ten POI's that they have on their "internal list" from all the initial tips and investigations, and request that these citizens come to the police station for a chat. (If someone refuses, and then brings a lawyer, .....that's food for thought too, non?) They interview each one, and they record (audio and video) of each of these ten conversations (if this hasn't been done already for some folks, esp. those already being held on other charges). LE subsequently thanks each of them for this routine follow-up discussion, and sends them on their way.

b) Then LE canine handlers have Jayme's dog listen to each of the ten conversations.

c) And, LE canine handlers have the Smrekars' dog listen to each of the ten conversations.

d) (It might be a good idea to precede this activity ....... with a playing back each time of the "cleaned up" 47-second 911-call, so that each canine "remembers back" to that horrific night. Ugh. )

e) LE would then gauge if either canine have any reaction to a particular POI's voice recording out of the ten: .... by exhibiting growling, twitching, teeth-baring, whining, barking, discomfort, etc. because that dog recognizes the perp's voice while he is speaking conversationally in response to police questions.

(During these interviews, LE could even provide a single sentence which is requested that the POI yell out loud, to better simulate the tone and volume of his voice that night in October. A lawyer would most likely object to all of this. Too bad. )

And what if BOTH dogs show some kind of reaction to the SAME POI's voice recording ? That would be very interesting. The Smrekars' dog was also agitated that night. Their canine can sort of provide "confirmation" for the reaction of Jayme's dog, who was much closer to the crime scene. (IMO)

As more validation, the FBI would bring their own dogs to "compare" the "cleaned up" 911 call ...to the 10 audio recordings also, as they have special training in this, with their Handlers.

REALLY GRABBING AT STRAWS HERE!
(Beside, I'm a cat person, and don't know much about dog's capabilities!!!!!)

I WANT THIS SOLVED!

<edited to remove incorrect apostrophes>

Yes! Dogs that have been in a Traumatic situation COULD pick out an abusers, a perpetrator..etc... voice or even scent. They don’t need them to say or do anything special. The dog may growl or may just hide from the person. Now, if this person is already known to the dog is where you run into a bit of a problem. They may still be timid around this person but nothing like if it were a stranger.

This is just from things I have researched and read on my own. So, just my opinions.
.
Hope it helps a little

The scenario of Jayme’s involvement has not been ruled out, so it is ok to discuss as a possibility. I don’t think it is the most likely scenario but this is a totally weird case.

Also, IMO, if Jayme did happen to know the person or had some sort of involvement I doubt that she knew her parents were in danger of being injured or killed. IMO.

Thank you.

Yes it very hurtful to the families who are already suffering so much grief and loss.

No wonder they get highly upset with unsupported allegations. Especially when they ALL know Jayme had no boyfriend of any kind neither local nor online....period. Fitzgerald has made that crystal clear so that assumption needs to be put to rest. Imoo

Its insensitive to Jayme as well who more than likely has gone through terrible suffering and may even be dead now at the hands of this cruel monster who murdered her parents in cold blood before forcing Jayme from her home.

Imo

The call log is a legal document.

The times in the log are computer generated and real time as the dispatcher enters the call (or from a computer interface).

These times are very unlikely to be minutes off.
I'm talking about the human side of it. Not the computer generated report.
I walk in, I see a man down, most likely a pretty bloody vision. I check for a pulse, I check the body position, look for a weapon et. etc. I do all this kneeling by the body, before I report what I've seen. This is what happens before I report. Could be seconds, could be minutes. jmo

Based on the fact this is a small town, I suspect the abductor is local or that Jayme gave out personal information which led to her kidnapping.
And if you throw in both parents posting photo someplace on social media and possibly an aunt or an uncle it expands the suspect pool. Being a small town it may have not taken much to go from a photo to her address.

I had a friend who in the beginning thought this was east of Barron, I think even before the call log came out. I always wondered why. I will have to ask her why she thought that if she recalls (maybe she did see log but I don't think so). Now you caught that it says east on the call log, I never noticed that but I noticed other things. This case causes nothing but more questions. CFS can also stand for Child & Family Services but I think it is more likely what the other posters think, Call for Service. I always wondered and never knew for sure what it meant. The Michigan contact also has always made me wonder.
The Closses did not live in Barron, they lived 1 mile east in unincorporated Barron which is why the 911 call was directed to Barron County

Is there a map that clears this up? If you google map the City of Barron, their house is clearly West of that city. The Town of Barron surrounds the "City," which would still put the Closs home in the Western area of unincorporated Barron.

I think Fitzgerald is likely got to figure out false alibis...

Parent/ girlfriend cover for perp only last so long.. still could be vehicle on cam/ 19 yr old friend to jayme/ nut from neighborhood...

Something is being covered up...I could see parent or brother lying for 19 yr old...that’s why this is not solved...

Gotta get somebody to crack...

I agree with you 100%!!!!

I am hoping it will be his buddy that’s in jail now for running over the kids/mother that will turn on him.

Maybe not enough time... yet!

Just perusing over the dispatch log again, a couple things that have always stood out to me (some of these may be answered):

1) The 2 different case numbers that were opened up nearly simultaneously and then merged within minutes of LE arriving.
2) Something about the initial 911 call led the dispatcher to believe this was a possible suicide attempt.
3) The odd case of the 2 people driving by in the Lumina.
4) Why the dispatch to 504 24 1/2th Avenue at 3:27:52? The log shows 2 units arrived at 3:27 and left at 4:50.
5) What led LE to make contact with St. Croix Casino security so quickly, and why the need for them to contact a Barron officer at 4:32:22?
6) The glaring typo in the inital release saying JLC was abducted "East" of the City of Barron.
7) At 12:15:13 - why was there a specific release/information faxed to the Ontonagon County, MI Sheriff's Department? Important enough to be noted specifically in the log.

ETA - 8) Why the interest near the end of the log of 1235 Highway 8?

1) 05 probably neighbor reacting to LE response. Someone should request that call, though.
2) For the umpteenth time, LE on the scene called it possible suicide, not dispatch.
3) They know who they are; I'm sure they've been interviewed; is there more???
4) Alerting family I assume.
5) Still an open question I believe. My guess is they found a betting slip or something.
6) Easy enough mistake to make
7) Denise's father's home is there IIRC; I'd guess to send deputies to give him the news.
8) You mean 1312?

Sorry, you are right. It is west. I just know that they did not actually live in Barron and I just assumed that it was east when not ever really looking at the map

My opinion about the being tied to the chair is very simple to me because I have done it...Jayme had a small dog she always included in family things. There is no fence and they live on a highway. So, when they were going in or out the front door, they tied Molly to the chair. She could still see them, but she was secure inside the house and they could leave the door open without the fear she would get out. Marks on chair legs were from Molly chewing on them.

Excellent logical post.... That dog had also tore up the bottom of the curtains on the deck doors, from trying to get attention, to be let outside with people in the past.
