PANOLA, TX (KLTV) - The Panola County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a woman who was reported missing Thursday.

Lauren Elizabeth Thompson, 32, is described by officials as a white female, approximately 5′ 5″ tall , and weighing about 190 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Thompson was last seen wearing dark colored pants or leggings and a dark-colored hoodie, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to the sheriff’s office, on January 10, at approximately 2:24 p.m., Panola County dispatchers received a 911 call from a female saying she was in a wooded area and thought someone was chasing her.

“The woman appeared to be disoriented and confused,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Officials said dispatchers were able to get a general area of the call through cell phone tower pings. Officers were then able to locate her vehicle, which was stuck in a ditch off of FM 1794, just west of Rock Hill Community.

According to the sheriff’s office, a search was conducted for several hours using an off-road UTV, tracking dogs, and a law enforcement heat-detecting drone. However, Thompson was not found. The sheriff’s office says authorities are continuing to search for her.

Thompson’s “cell phone battery apparently ran down during the 911 call, so no further contact has been established at this time," according to the sheriff’s office.

If she called after the car went into the ditch, the disorientation and confusion could easily be mental shock or knocking the head against a window.

Prayers she is found quickly. More dogs and drones, please, LE. And IR at night.

One of the comments on the Sheriff's thread - someone that she worked for mentioned "problems" other than the boyfriend. Drugs? Alcohol? Mental? The threat of violence from a significant other is real, but could she have had some sort of break and ended up car wrecked and scared in the woods. I so am praying she found shelter and is recovering.

And drove her into the ditch.

I think so, too. If she hit her head, that would definitely make you disoriented and confused. Also the article said that she went down a ditch on an oil/gas road. Those are roads to nowhere, but you could turn down one if you were trying to escape from someone. Bad thing is you would end up at a dead end and be trapped.

What is terrible is that when people go missing in East Texas they are often not found. It is desolate and when it is in a desolate place, there are usually no witnesses and nobody to hear you.

Doris McIntosh--sweet elderly lady got stuck on an oil lease road. Still not found.

These are just a few, but similar scenarios. Vehicle is found abandoned, but the people are missing.

I kinda hate the way this was automatically written off as a delusional/confused person. Granted that might be bad reporting but the likelihood this was her legit scared and being followed is better than a manic, paranoid break from reality on someone her age with no prior episodes. IMO. This is so scary. This story line is the most terrifying to me of all the scenarios discussed here. Man I hope she’s ok. :(
