SPRINGFIELD - A 73-year-old Battle Creek man told an officer early Friday he had a cotton ball in his ear.

It was really crack cocaine.

Got to think there was a lot of probable cause for the officer to be checking body so extensively.

After the man was pulled over for speeding, he acted nervous and tried concealing his ear with his collar. The officer also noted (from article):
But the deputy noticed something in the man's left ear and at first thought it might be a hearing aid.

"But after looking at it I thought I saw a knot and a baggie."

People often carry illegal drugs tied with a knot in the corner of a sandwich bag, Rosado said.
ETA: The man must have been too high to think of putting the baggie in his right ear (toward the inside of the car) instead of his left ear, or just stuffing it between the seat and back of the seat where it wouldn't be visible!

That is not a hearing aid. Having a baggy stick out of your ear it's one way to get caught. Why not your pocket or the floor? You can't say explain crack in your ear any better than you could explain why it's in your pocket. How is this dude still alive and how is not in jail?
