Can Julen survive 12 days underground? This is the question the whole world asks but no one can give an answer to. Everyone on the surface is prepared for the best senario and a medical helicopter is standing by.
In 2013 near Bangladesh a young woman was taken alive from the rubble of a colapsed building after 17 days. Doctors called it a miracle.

THERE IS STILL HOPE FOR JULEN

The worst situations truly have been bringing out the best people.

I have been thinking the same! It's incredible the amount of love we humans have for one another when one needs help and support. It's so heartwarming. I have Spanish heritage and at the moment I'm proud of it!

Those miners are heroes, they are risking their own lives for the little miner to bring him back to the surface. That small village has come to a complete standstill, everyone only focussed on the rescue and supporting the family and all workers involved in any way they can. Bless them all.

I can't believe all the issues they've had with this rescue operation. My fear is that they will have to abort it for the safety of the rescue people.

I was thinking of that too. But I think if it's deemed too dangerous to continue with the horizontal tunnel, there might try at that point again to push through the blockage in the well to retrieve his body. jmo

I too, pray for a miracle.

The best and the brightest are working here, and I feel that all is far safer in their hands. It is slow & tedious, but the terrain is indeed dodgy as hell.

We are seeing tireless work on the part of the rescuers. We are seeing the best in the national spirit of Spain. We are watching the hopes & prayers of Julen's parents.

Things look grim, but I am still holding out hope.

Let's all hold on. Let us stop sad speculation, let us keep the faith until we know the ultimate outcome.

Hopefully, I am uploading this video right from Twitter. Oh my God, saying extra prayers for these wonderful rescuers and miners. I am getting claustrophobic just looking at this dear man heading down!

Just wow. Incredible that these men are doing this. There are so many kind and loving people in this world it just brings tears to my eyes.

Linking arms with your good thoughts, praying.

The specialists of the Mining Rescue Brigade are already only a meter and a half away from the point where Julen is believed to be.

The holes to make microvoladuras measure about 40 inches deep, reports TVE journalist Xaquin Lopez, in these operations it is better not to use much explosive material since then more gases are generated, explains Pedro Martall. microvoladuras specialist.

AFTER more than 20 hours of digging by hand, specialist miners have reportedly managed to carve out more than 2.5 metres of the 3.8-metre tunnel needed to reach 2-year-old Julen.

According to Spanish media, experts have been forced to use explosives in addition to the pickaxes they had hoped to employ after finding the underground terrain particularly hard to dig through.

Initial estimates suggested works to the tunnel would be completed some time this evening.
