In that case maybe he was on his way home from work, I'd guess a factort like that might work 24 hours

Good idea, looks like there are long/late shifts at Karro food factory. It’s to the east through so he shouldn’t have been driving in Libby’s area if he was heading home.

Edit: though actually if he was still working in York, he would probably have driven down the A1079 which would take him directly past the bench...

That was on the same night. Some girl was chased Down the road by a man in a balaclava. A taxi pulled up at the end of the road to help but was apparently a fake taxi (normal car with fake taxi stickers on side) but she managed to escape.

It was just near where libby went missing and was apparently reported to the police. People have been talking about this on Facebook.

I seem to remember early on that a number of items were found and the police stated at the time they were unconnected to Libby and were connected to another incident, so could that be the incident as mentioned above - It's quite possible that was an isolated incident and due to the nature of Libby's disappearance people have started to the join dots - But it is a very strange coincidence and if the 2 incidents are actually connected then that would be of serious concern as there are 2 people involved with this and the police only have 1 person in police custody -

To further add to this, it is possible that the lady involved with that incident has been able to provide details which could have lead to the identification and arrest of this 24 year old. I know that when a serious incident like that occurs the police will do everything to ensure the victim has given as much information as possible even more so if similar incidents had been reported recently aswell. Sadly, I speak from experience on that and I know how eager the police can be to apprehend someone like that before they escalate

I'm putting this in big letters:

we have spoken to a taxi driver and another motorist who stopped to help Libby on the night. I want to make it clear that these two individuals are not suspects in this enquiry

One thing that strikes me is, how come only ONE person heard a scream? There are other properties in the area, aren't there?

You would have thought more people would have heard it too .. I thought that too but it sounds like there was only one scream but new things are coming to light all the time today is the only time it’s been mentioned a guy wearing a balaclava was seen in that area

OK, so the photo the sun used of him in a red shirt is 4 years old. He has 2 recent children. He doesn't appear to meet the criteria of some opportunist or sex offender. People in his position who abduct and worse are usually sociopaths of the worse kind because to the outside world, it's just a normal young family man.

As others have said, maybe lots of people heard it. But they didn't run to the media.

I imagine due to the extensive forensic search that this will not be a straight forward 24 hrs in custody and could be extended to the maximum 96 hours. Imagine there is not much chance of it being resolved today.

Also, I know he has a car but these factories often bus workers in on minibuses. That corner would be exactly the sort of drop off spot they would use. Just one theory.

There is a lot of police activity around Hull’s Oak Road Playing Fields as the search for university student Libby Squire continues. An officer has prevented me from walking any further towards the pond. There are now 3 police vans here, 2 cars & a specialist marine search team.

Sadly people of a certain political leaning are starting to have a field day with the guys nationality now on twitter and elsewhere!

If this is the guy, he may have had kids but maybe they don't live with him. He will have been familiar with the comings and goings of many students in the street, he could have watched them from his house.

This is the post I was referring to when I asked if I can post BBC journalist's posts lol.

It could be that other's heard it and paid no attention, we use to have a lot of students who lived locally and most night's you would hear shouting, screaming and other loud noises, I became so use to it I stopped noticing the noise - But the scream was said to be very alarming & that's something you would notice... P.s Does anyone know if the police have confirmed that as a line of enquiry, if they have it's possible other's heard it to.
Also a loud and panicked scream certainly points towards someone being taken by surprise and grabbed of the street rather then being lured in to a car or a house...
