This is the part you are thinking of -

Chase: I’m trying. Um the DA’s premise is that I left that evening at 5.48, went into Bonsall and came back, at 9.32 I made a call from they say the 15 freeway going north, but my phone hit two towers near the 60 freeway but definitively show, you know, if, if the towers are correct, I’m going east on Van Buren, not even on the 60.

Cathy: That night?

Chase: Yeah. What would I be doing on Van Buren Boulevard, at 9.32 at night? There’s nothing over there. There’s the 60, Van Buren runs parallel [inaudible].

Cathy: Is that in Riverside?

Chase: It goes to Riverside. At 9.30 at night I wouldn’t be going out there.

Boles testified after this jailhouse call IIRC In Boles cross examination, McGee went into detail about "flyers" and what they are, which is basically the cell phone chooses a cell tower WAY further away than necessary.

He showed this as an example:
2/10 12:37pm - in Rancho Cucamonga

one minute later:

2/10 12:38pm - in Riverside Lake Mathews area 18 miles from CM's home.

I have a snip of a map with the tower of where the call on Feb 9:32 was pinging. It is actually closer than the above call that pinged down that way a few days later, with no explanation. You can see Riverside, and you can see Lake Mathews.

Well, he might not have been in Ventura. I thought that there were a couple of towers he pinged at that time. But I think I get what you are saying. If he'd been home, and in the club house, why at 9:32 would he ping a tower that distance from his home?

He may have been headed to gamble at that time. Those towers were in a place where investigators speculated Chase was returning from murdering the McStays, but he could also have been headed to the casino near Temecula.

Or he could have been home as shown in my last post lol

Was there a painter other than McCarger, who became a no-show, after working a couple of times, shortly before the family disappearance?

It seems a few things that were reported and talked about in the early days have been "locked away" and never talked about since CM was identified as a suspect.

Chase said it hit two towers. Flyers seems to be an unreasonable explanation for two tower hits.

There was a painter who bailed and supposedly was based in Las Vegas. That was thought to be why McGargar was asked to paint, because the original painter disappeared.

I know CM is an accomplished conman and thief, but I don't really don't think he is very tech savvy. I would find it easier to believe that someone else orchestrated a phone swap, either to cover for themselves or set Chase up. Don't I recall reading on here that CM bought a new phone early in February??
I was reading through about 300 pages of the warrants yesterday, and it states in there that Merritt got a new cell phone through his employer Keene, if i recall that name correctly? This was all when LE got the warrant to wire tap Merritt's phones, so yes he did acquire a new phone.

That was in 2014.

I don't think one needs to be too tech savvy to know that a cell phone can be tracked. And he is a very mechanically educated professional , who understands motors, electricity, etc. I have no doubt that he knew that his cell could be pinged or monitored. JMO

I can hardly express how sorry I feel for Joey and Summer's families.
This trial would feel like torture to me.
I'm proud of Susan holding it together while on recall.
I'm pretty sure that I would lose it and tell everyone off.
I agree, and think it's a low act to call grieving family members to the stand for the DT.
IMO the Prosecutors are the voice or should be for the victims and their families.

Prosecutors are the voice for no one (aside for perhaps their own career ambitions) if they prosecute the wrong person. The point of a trial is to assure that guilty persons are convicted-but it isn't always the case that the person on trial is guilty. Otherwise there would be no need for a trial.

Sometimes there is no choice but to place family members on the stand. They can have information that is relevant that even they are not aware of.
