Found Deceased Ireland - Ruth Maguire, 30, vanished during hen party, Carlingford, Co Louth, Leinster, 16 Mar 2019

She was a lot further from Carlingford than I would have expected. The Haulbowline Lighthouse seems to be quite a distance away in open water. I wonder if she was trying to find the house where her things were and sent out a picture of the house in the Instagram picture at midnight inquiring if that was the correct house. I guess no one will ever know.

I agree. You said as much up thread when you posted the Google Maps coast line. I think when I look at maps like that I assume the distances are greater than they are in reality. There is a B&B down there that could easily be the house that she Instagramed, the Lough is right behind her. And certainly if that is where she went into the water, she could have been out a distance when she was found.

I think this story is a little different

Ruth Maguire, 30, was one of 32 women on the hen in the town and her friends discovered she was missing when they returned to the house they were staying in.

Ruth's friend Katrina O’Hare said the group "all headed home to house we are staying in” at 11.30pm.

The house is less than five minutes from Taaffe’s bar, where the hen party had been socialising beforehand.

Within minutes of returning to the house, they realised Ruth was not with them.

That's an entirely different story from the original post. I can understanding getting a last sighting or the last thing she said mixed up, but this is a completely different set of facts.

There are so many articles with different timelines, differences in what was said, who by and who to, it's confusing. I don't know if the media are trying to make this more mysterious/sinister or whether it's just bad reporting or even if Ruth's friends are giving different stories. Some sort of official statement from An Garda Siochana would be helpful, they don't usually leave things so vague.

Cannot recall if Ms Maguire 's shoes worn the night of her disappearance, were ever described or shown in a photo.
Wondering if her shoes were easy to walk in and/or, the type that are likely to fall off feet or slip easily?
Was the phone she took a photo with located, or could it have dropped after took the picture and she stumbled trying to retrieve it?
Does the house she photographed have any sentimental meaning for her, or could Ruth have been essentially showing where she might have intended to " shuffle off her mortal coil?
imo, speculation.

Lots of similar cases at the mo! :)

I hadn't thought it to be sinister, I thought she may have taken the picture of the house and sent it out because she wasn't sure if it was where they all were staying and wanted someone to send her a message that it was the one. They had arrived Saturday afternoon and then went out for hours of drinking and partying. It wouldn't surprise me if she wasn't sure of where she was staying.

I was just wondering something similar. If there was a message with it asking for directions, that could be evidence this was just a terrible accident.

Google Maps
If you open this and go to the street map and zoom into the area just down the road from the pub, you will see the Carlingford Hen Co. Louth. This is one of the places to stay that is part of the Taaffes Pub hen and stag parties weekends. You can see how all of the houses look the same. If this is where they all were staying it fits the facts as we know them.

It is within the walking distance, near the water, outside the bay and they all look alike. IMO

A Carlingford Lough community twitter feed re-posted most coastguard and emergency service updates as they appeared with regards to the searches for Ruth and other events that seem to have taken place the same evening...

*scroll down to find posts and responses that could indicate a messy night in this small town.

ETA: I think the fatal crash which happened in the same area took place the night after the alarm was raised for Ruth. Probably unconnected but devastating for the small community.
