It's all good missy i am agreeing with you per the MSM article i posted about it not perhaps being the futon cover, :)

I don't think it was the futon cover but I don't think that impacts the likelihood of the murders happening in the house. They were all killed with the same weapon (the sledge hammer) according to forensics.

I think the chances of Joey being killed elsewhere, wrapped in a blanket with ratchet ties and electric cord and the killer going to the house (or somehow getting Summer and the kids out of the house and to wherever Joey was killed) and using the same weapon are too small to be reasonable.

I think everything was pointing to Joey already having a plan in place to phase CM out altogether.

He started implementing his plan by giving MSM more job duties, including welding, and giving CM other duties with less pay. I think Joey wished CM would quit altogether, and move on.

Even easygoing laid back Joey knew CM had become more of a liability than ever an asset. IMO. He truly had become a thorn in Joey's side.

Imo, Joey knew he would fare far better without CM.

No more complaints about CM. No more shoddy work from CM. No more of CM spending more time at the casinos instead of fulfilling his job duties. No more loans for CM that wouldn't ever be paid back. No more having to support CMs family everytime he went back to jail. No more having to pay for the same material, and supplies twice.

He had every reason in the world to get rid of CM, and no incentive to keep him.

Imo, and this was all in the process of being done before the final strike of betrayal happened, when CM began stealing from Joey's business accounts.

Nothing was ever enough for CM. He wanted more, and more, but was too lazy to work for it.

So CM took what he wanted, just like he had stolen before, and ripped off other victims, pretty much throughout his adult life, filled with criminal behavior.

This time the only way to steal money from Joey, he knew he had to murder them all.

JMHOO

I also think, that JM realized, that he could no longer AFFORD CM, with all of what you mentioned. JM, being the exact opposite of CM, acted like a responsible adult and had to put his family's security first.

His DA, Maline, needs to find another career. The questioning of SB was so inept, it made me cringe. It also opened a rather devastating cross by the PA detailing another 15K or so grifted by her son's "close friend" Chase.
I Just finished her testimony. Yes I rather enjoyed that part, showcasing of Chase's continued sponging of the account. It's downright lowest of the low. Rodriguez skewered Merritt on that cross and I'm sure the jury took note of it.

I hope the jury is supplied plenty of notebooks.

I read that MSM told JM to get rid of CM from the business or MSM wouldn't deal with JM anymore?
So yeah, i wouldn't be surprised if JM said something to Merritt just prior to the murders happening. IMO
Will have to look for that article now to try and post a link.

Sequeida Jr's testimony, meeting with Sequeida Sr. and JM.

Yes agree.

Although per this article a futon cover was missing from the home
(quote)
None of the victims were wearing shoes. The woven blanket wrapped around Joseph McStay's skeletal remains appeared similar to a futon cover that was missing from the home after the family vanished, said Joseph Steers, another detective from San Bernardino County.
Prosecutors begin presenting evidence in McStay murder case
So that is perhaps why the defense was asking SB if she had removed or washed a futon to cover, to which she answered No.

Earlier in the trial they compared a close up pic of the futon cover to the fabric wrapped around Joseph, it clearly looked like different fabric. I don't think pics of what he was wrapped in was available before the trial though.

Thanks geevee, i think the important thing for me is that personal belongings from the McStay home were missing, as well as the McStay family of course.
Is it true that all the towels from the home were missing as well? And bedding?

Yes, all the towels were missing, not sure about all the bedding, it was gone from the master bed when TE and Mike did the video some time after the disappearance (March?) but recently I read that SB and friend may have washed them when they were cleaning.

The fact that shop towels like what were found in the garage and painter's tape were found in the grave leads me to believe they were killed at home.

Thanks for clarifying, and agree they were killed at home.

If they were killed at home, why was Jr.'s backpack in the grave?
