Have been silently following since the first thread. What a tragic outcome for Libby’s family and the news we were all dreading.

I have felt particularly overwhelmed by certain individuals here that have spent hours explaining, researching, linking, photographing, etc etc to try and get to the bottom of this case. You have shown nothing but selflessness and I want to send my love to you all.

Rest in peace gorgeous Libby x

We now require a conviction and LWOP.
If this eventuates, it will be a long time away, and I would think these gorgeous sleuthers will continue here.
I just hope Justice is reached for Libby.
This has been a very upsetting case, but thank goodness, Libby's body is found, so her poor family can try to come to some finality.

I have no idea, I'm still confused as to what that movement is before the person gets in the passenger side. I just can't work out what it could be?
What we're the main suggestions, a coat being out over the seat or something thrown into the back or the car?

ITV news re-showed the clip tonight and said a person can be seen getting in to the passenger side.
I see a person and they don't appear to be struggling to get in the car.

I feel sick and upset. I don't think any of here really expected her to turn up okay, but still, and I don't really know why, but it is upsetting.

I just hope if this wasn't suicide/accident that whoever was responsible is brought to justice, for full closure.

Even though the Police showed a lot of interest in the steps, I am still not convinced that she entered the Hull via the park. I believe she more likely was thrown into the Humber directly. No chance she stumbled in by accident from the park

Time may tell.

I would not have expected media to know post mortem results. I have never seen it happen so quickly to finish a forensicly intense post mortem ( my assumption.)

I'm probably totally wrong but I would guess that since she's been in the water so long they needed to get on with the PM ASAP. I would have thought they'll already struggle to determine COD given how long it took to find her. I hope that they manage to find out as much as possible though - for her loved ones' sake and so that (if necessary) those responsible can be brought to justice.

I think you're right, I'm going to revise it now. I am quite an outspoken person but I am not here or out to offend.

I am sure no one on this forum means to offend. We are lucky to have this forum. Who would have thought so many people from all over the world, different walks of life, personalities, etc would come together to discuss topics that are not the easiest to understand and deal with, but we are here. It has to mean something. To me I hope it means the good far outweighs the evil.

But all that the police spokesman said was that the post-mortem was to begin in the afternoon. It is usual for the PM to take place as soon as possible.

It may take some time to determine COD, with further specialised forensic tests required. That's often the case when there has been a delay in discovering the body.

I wonder if cause of death can be determined, unless drowning. This may be complicated as to what happens next. Jmo

I'm not familiar with this case but wanted to stop in and tell everyone that I am sorry for your loss....we here at WS can only be so "hard" and we try to help without getting emotionally involved but we are all moms/dads/sisters/aunts/uncles/friends/humans....it wears us down like everyone else. They would not necessarily need the full pm results to be certain of foul play, there could be binding for example, and anyone who where witness at the recovery site could inform the media of such, this is obviously just an example in no way intended as speculation or fact.

Libby was a young student. She didn't have children.

Very sad tonight, but at the same time relieved Libby's family have some prospect of closure now.

Just a couple of thoughts:

- Strikes me as plausible that Libby could have entered the water accidentally. As other posters have pointed out, an inebriated/disorientated girl couldn't have outrun a determined assailant, but she could have scrambled up the bank in a panic if he'd tried out his flashing on her, then slipped into the river.

- On the other hand I have a niggling doubt about the timescale and assumed guilt of PR. Libby vanished 7 weeks ago. Hull along with other parts of the UK has been experiencing an unusual spring heatwave (=warmer water). (UK basks in warmest February day on record) How likely is it that she would have been identified so quickly (it was clear from local comments on Wednesday, as well as media leaks and swift transfer of responsibility to the Hull coroner, that LE knew they had found Libby) if her body had been in the water all that time?

It will be interesting to see what the post mortem reveals. Could Libby's body may have entered the water more recently, *after* PR's arrest?

Absolutely.

I'm not sure if because we're so cut off from other major cities or because we're a port city with lots people coming and going.

In this tragic story. The shining light has been the spirit and togetherness of this City.

Or because it seems to have lots of decent people like the ones on here that have gone and spent time photographing / filmed areas to answer questions. Checked buildings for locks (just in case). Not victim blamed.

Or the ones that contributed to the crowfund for Libby's parents. I'm not sure that would have happened in other cities.

My children that have gone to University have fallen in love with their student lives. My child that came here as a student has fallen in love with the city as well.

The Independent is a proper newspaper not known for the dishonesty and sensationalism that plague most of our dodgy press. I'm very surprised they've said that
