Found Deceased UK - Libby Squire, 21, last seen outside Welly club, Hull, 31 Jan 2019 #15 *ARREST*

Taking the case of Joanna Yeates, the timeline went:
17th Dec : JY last seen
25th Dec : body found in Longwood Lane
28th Dec : police announce JY strangled & now murder enquiry
20th January : Tabak arrested & charged
31st Jan : body released to family after 2nd PM

Basically it took 3 weeks between the body being found and an arrest. Bear in mind that it only took 8 days rather than 7 weeks to find her body and that it hadn’t been immersed in water so that a cause of death could be more easily established and DNA evidence which linked Tabak to her found.

I agree though tabak wasn't a suspect pretty much from the word go as PR has been..they have had weeks to work on him

She was frozen which caused slight delays and problems with the PM though obviously not as problematic as in this case

The body will decompose rapidly once out of water, refrigerated or not. To wait this long for a 2nd PM is worrying and it indicates to me (my opinion) that they have not got enough to charge anyone with yet, and they have to hold the body until they can make that charge. IMHO they don’t have enough evidence or they have some tricks ready to use that they don’t want to reveal as it could damage the prosecution. Maybe still waiting for toxicology results, let’s hope that they get something.
I’m on the fence tbh.

This is how I feel

From eighteen years as a police officer, I know indecent exposure isn't taken seriously
Written by a retired serving sergeant from Humberside Police force Topic has discussed previously many times. .He gives a history of the law regarding this offence. He does endorse also that flashing can lead to violence in some cases .

I think the RBBM "can" in your post is relevant, and I have *snipped* part of the article you mention as I consider it necessary to appreciate the psychology involved and not make uninformed decisions due to emotonal responses. I am neither excluding nor accusing any person of any criminal act here.

But do all flashers intend to shock? Jane Warding-Smith, an experienced psychosexual consultant who specialises in sex addiction, told me that that’s not necessarily the case. “The most common client group I deal with are the guys that strip off and perhaps go for a drive in the car. These people don’t necessarily even need to be seen’ she explained ‘It’s the risk of being ‘caught out’ that gives them the thrill they’re seeking.” She went on ‘”The flasher who masturbates in front of people is primarily seeking their sexual gratification from shocking people”.

Apparently both these groups have something in common – they’re chasing the ‘dopamine high’. This naturally produced feel-good brain chemical fuels their compulsive sexual behaviour in a similar way to that of a heroin addict.”.

I wouldn't be so sure. As the tenant of the other ground-floor flat, he would have been an obvious suspect because of proximity and the likelihood of not being seen. For those reasons, the occupants of that flat were at the top of my own list of suspects before we even knew who they were.

Once I was in a bus in Paris, stationary in a traffic jam, and I noticed that the driver of a car alongside was completely* naked.

*Well, he might have had shoes & socks on. I couldn't see his feet.

And she goes on that like an addict tolerance builds up. Takes greater risks. Needs more so can go on to contact sexual violence. If they don't get the response they can become unpredictable and violent.

It's possible it's an under reported crime because it's just the victims word. A victim that will have scurried away as quickly as possible. So I'd guess it's a difficult thing to prosecute. If CPS are happy to charge him I guess PR had already started to take increasing risks.

Libby was very drunk and possibly becoming hypothermic. Reactions would be slow, thinking things through impaired. She was a young, bright student of the me too generation. Could it possible she initially reacted with disgust and indignation rather than fear at first?

Wasn't her landlord Christopher Jefferies arrested first?

He was also a very obvious suspect since he was a keyholder, so he had means and opportunity.
A suspicious item was also found in his flat when it was searched, which was ruled out after forensic tests, but that took a little time. That was largely kept out of the media, although it was later mentioned in the local press as far as I recall.

Tabak was first spoken to on 24th December at his girlfriend’s parent’s home, he then travelled to Holland on 28th.Police spoke to him when he was in Holland and his account of the night of 17th December differed from the account he’d given on 24th and he diverted attention to Chris Jeffries who was arrested on 30th of December. He was a POI/surveilled from his return back to the UK on 02/01 iirc

I remember so many conversations discussing pizzas .

At his trial there were clear cctv images of Tabak in his car and at Asda on the night
Jo died so I hope there are more images of PR that the police have.

Yes true ...though they didn't take his DNA till new year and only when an officer became suspicious during a statement they were taking about their prime suspect at the time ...though I agree he would have been on their radar

Surely the police must have enough and be confident that they do have enough to warrant a murder charge?

If not why are they not appealing for more information-why has it gone so eerily quiet?

Im pretty sure the runner on the cctv footage is him, is that the link they need confirmed?

I reckon they must have loads of evidence stacked against PR but may be finding it hard to get it all linked-what could be missing?

The questions and thoughts that pop into my head at night! It is all just questions though isnt it, frustrating not knowing what direction this is going to go.

Out of interest, why so sure about this? The outfit doesn't match earlier cctv from Haworth St and the direction of travel doesn't sit easily.

I'm not sure many people are looking at the runner as being PR.

The footage seems to be of some importance, 3 appeals (or more) for the people to come forward?
Could he of taken libby back to his house, something happened, he changed clothes, took her to oak park? I see the runner put his hands up on his head as he slows to a walk-could it be him?
Something just doesnt sit right with that footage, my opinion.

I do not think he took her home. If he had police would have found her DNA there.
It is possible he had other clothes in his car.
There have been no further appeals for a while so perhaps the people have been identified.
Some people have wondered if he had an accomplice.
They could witnesses who might have seen his car parked there.

I've been out all morning so don't know specifics, but police have been going door to door in HU5 and questioning residents about Libby and Jan 31st etc.

ETA - a friend who lives off Beresford Ave tells me that police visited last week and asked all residents:

Have you ever met her?
Have you seen anything suspicious?
Did you hear anything that night?
