Missing Person
Location of Incident: 11200 block of South Ocotillo Lane, Yuma, AZ

On Sunday, February 17, 2019 at approximately 11:32 p.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing person from the 11200 block of South Ocotillo Lane, Yuma, AZ.

Deputies spoke to the reporting party who stated that the missing person, identified as William “Bud” Hardy, 62, of Yuma, was last seen on Saturday, February 16, 2019 leaving his home at 9:00 a.m.

Mr. Hardy is described as 5’10” tall, approximately 180 pounds, with bald head and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a light blue shirt, tan plaid pajama pants. Mr. Hardy was last seen leaving in a blue 2012 Chevrolet truck. Mr. Hardy suffers from dementia.

Continuous efforts to locate Mr. Hardy by the Sheriff’s Office have been unsuccessful.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Mr. Hardy is asked to contact the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office at 928-783-4427 or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.

Missing man's vehicle found in Foothills
U.S. Border Patrol agents on Sunday located the vehicle of Yuma man reported missing since February, the Yuma County Sheriff's Office said.

The man, William “Bud” Hardy, 62, who suffers from dementia, remains missing. According to a YCSO news release, the agents found Hardy’s vehicle 6 miles southeast of Foothills Boulevard and East County 14th Street.

YCSO Search and Rescue along with YCSO Criminal Investigators responded to the scene and were unable to locate Hardy, who was last seen at about 9 a.m. Feb. 16, leaving his home in the 11200 block of South Ocotillo Lane.

Either that or he was/is wandering through the foothills. In his picture, his face is quite red. Sunburn, too close to a fire, rosecia? It looks like it would hurt.

UPDATE: Judge Declares Missing Yuma Man Dead

A Yuma County Superior Court judge declares a missing man since 2019 officially dead.

Last week, attorneys requested the judge to determine whether Hardy should be declared legally dead, adding the investigation led nowhere.

Court documents show it's impossible to determine a cause of death considering how Hardy's whereabouts are unknown and his body has not been found.

Therefore, the judge declares Hardy dead the day he disappeared.

Judge asked to declare missing man legally dead - KYMA


Thomas Asimou pleaded his case before Yuma County judge Claudia Gonzalez. Asimou called four witnesses to the court to testify on Hardy's disappearance and the investigation that led no where.

Hardy's fiance/caregiver, Jeana Brown, took to the stand to tell the courtroom the last time she saw Hardy which was in his home washing dishes.

A neighbor told investigators they last saw Hardy drive his Chevy pick-up truck from him home on February 16, 2019.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents contacted investigators to report finding Hardy's truck in a remote section of the Sonoran Desert. It was revealed in the courtroom the location of the truck was less than 10 miles away from Hardy's home.

A doctor testified before the judge, saying he doesn't believe Hardy would have survived a few days with his condition.
