UPDATE: Woman found shot to death identified - ABC 36 News

I have been thinking about this and what I wanted to say. This area has a highway which runs through it and its possible 100s of strangers use daily or more. To be off road on an ATV trail it has to be someone from that area. Even other small communities throughout perry country would not know the place where her body was found. She knew this person. More than likely she rode on the back of an ATV to get there. Someone saw her with that person. I've asked a lot of questions just to get an idea of who she is and the only thing I can get from people are tidbits of her past. People are not saying a lot and either they don't know or they are frightened.

Has anyone heard anything?

ETA: Still awaiting on more details about investigation as to any evidence found on the trail, and how long it's believed that MN body was on the trail before discovered. Did MN have a criminal past?

We do know that MN did not have any identification on her person when her body was located.

Was this intentional? Was Mary taken their by force or did she go to Cemetery Rd willingly? Who frequents this area? Is this an area known to drug sale/purchase/use? Answers to these questions may help define who she was with, and what ultimately led to her being shot and killed.

Post 13 Public Affairs Officer Trooper Jody Sims said that, at approximately 8:40 p.m. on April 11, a male caller contacted 911 advising that he was riding his ATV on a trail near Louis Cemetery Road in Viper when he discovered a female on the trail who appeared to be dead.

Trooper Charlie Moore responded to the scene in the Viper community and located the body on the ATV trail, Sims said. Post 13 detectives and the Perry County Coroner’s Office were also called to the scene, he said. Perry County Deputy Coroner Jeff Combs pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the female had an apparent gunshot wound to her body. Sims said, KSP officials suspect the gunshot contributed to the cause of death, but could not confirm that at this stage of the investigation.

Sims said no identifying information was located at the scene to allow for positive identification of the body and the body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy April 12.

Sims said KSP officials confirmed the identity of the woman to be Mary Napier, 32, of Vicco. No other updates are available and the investigation is still ongoing.

Sims said now that investigators know the identity of the woman, they hope to be able to form a timeline of the events leading up to Napier’s death, including where she was last seen and with whom she was last seen. bbm

Anyone with information concerning the investigation is urged to contact KSP Post 13 at, (606) 435-6070. Information can also be shared at any of the Kentucky State Police social media sites or the KSP public web page, kentuckystatepolice.org.

Post 13 Det. Robbie Dials is leading the investigation.

Mary Napier

She adored her children and family, and loved her 52 year old Mom that she lost to brain cancer Feb 2018.

She was a huge Kentucky Wildcats fan, and proud of her recovery that obviously requires work every single day.

She didn't deserve to be shot in the woods, and left to be found by passerby.

No she didn't. She knew this person and trusted them. I hope she didn't see it coming and it was over quickly.
