I noticed in the comments there was mention of him being murdered already. Unbelievably sad. I wonder if the girl he was with him was part of the crime.

SALISBURY, N.C. - Three arrests have been made after deputies said a Rowan County 19-year-old was killed and dismembered.

Officials said Thursday Madison Harrington, 18, and Lauren Grimes, 19, were charged with accessory after the fact to murder for her alleged assistance in the concealment of the murder of Michael Elijah Earley.

Carlos Rosas Jr., 19, was arrested and charged Wednesday night with murder and felony concealment of death.

Earley was last seen around 10 p.m. Sunday in Rockwell and his girlfriend reported him missing on Monday.

There had been a desperate search for Easley up until Wednesday when investigators announced that he was murdered.

Authorities said they anticipate more arrests -- at least two more.

Rosas is in the Rowan County jail under no bond and Harrington is under a $500,000 bond.

Warrants said Rosas tried to cover up the murder by cutting Earley’s body into pieces, which he then tried to get rid of in a secluded area.

According to an arrest warrant, Rosas "unlawfully, willfully and feloniously did attempt to conceal evidence of the death of Michael Earley by knowingly and willfully dismembering and destroying human remains, including removing body parts of Michael Earley."

The warrant went on to say that Rosas "unlawfully, willfully and feloniously did of malice aforethought kill and murder Michael Earley."

Rowan County Sheriff's Office investigators said at a press conference Thursday they do not believe that Michael Earley and Carlos Rosas knew each other prior to Sunday's drug buy gone bad.

Man, when and where the heck did the disconnect happen with these teens? Horrific behaviors from males under the age of full brain development (age 22) always make me think there must have been some trauma or disconnect in their childhood. In this case, its women too - who are supposed to mature sooner! Were they abused, neglected, someone coddled them too much, didn’t bother to teach them right from wrong, apathetic toward bullying, continued a broken cycle of abuse, etc.???

Holy smokes. I get that the son is not without fault, its a drug deal he shouldn’t have done. These parents must be devastated. I think from the parents initial comments in social media, they seemed very worried, especially regarding the girl he was with. Not sure if she is one of those posted as a perp tho. I haven’t sleuthed that far.

Michael Elijah Earley, of Rockwell, was beaten to death and transported from Sides Road, and taken elsewhere and dismembered before his remains were taken to suspect Carlos Rosas’ home, where it was burned and buried in the backyard, according to search warrants obtained by the Post Monday.

Earley, 19, was supposed to meet Rosas, also 19, for a prearranged drug deal. The two argued and Rosas allegedly beat Earley with a baseball bat, killing him, according to the warrants. Rowan County Sheriff’s Office detectives said Madison Drew Harrington and Lauren Grimes helped Rosas move and dispose of Earley’s body.

Investigators interviewed Rosas and, after several minutes, Rosas reportedly admitted to the crime, according to search warrants. Rosas reportedly told detectives he fought with Earley and struck Earley with the bat. Rosas said Earley died from the assault. Rosas walked to an area about 100 yards from the house and showed the detectives an area with freshly disturbed dirt that was covered with leaves, warrants stated.

He told detectives that Earley was buried there. Rosas further said that he severed parts of Earley’s body and burned them in the barrel. He buried the rest of Earley’s remains in the woods, the warrants state. Moose noted the body parts were still inside the trash barrel and appeared to have been cut with a saw-type tool.
