WI WI - Victoria Prokopovitz, 59, Pittsfield, 25 April 2013 *Guilty*

I wonder what's come of this since last year?

New search warrant suggests foul play in Prokopovitz case

Suspecting foul play, the State Crime Lab, along with investigators from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, asked for and were granted a new search warrant in the case.

The warrant was executed last week at the home where Prokopovitz was last seen. She disappeared from her Pittsfield home on April 25th, 2013, leaving behind her cell phone, purse and cigarettes. Her husband reported her missing the next day.

investigators seized 38 items including:

seven computers
12 hard drives
Prokopovitz’s cell phone
her purse
two canes
financial documents
“female sexually explicit photographs”
a picture of a man pointing a handgun at the camera
an envelope self-addressed to Prokopovitz’s son Wesley Edges who still lives at the Kunesh Road property
a roll of tape
swabs of blood from the floors in a bedroom, kitchen, hallway and a pillow. The amount of blood found is not specified.

Investigators tell Target 2, Prokopovitz’s disappearance is still considered a missing persons case until they know otherwise. The warrant shows she had attempted suicide many years ago and that’s what James Prokopovitz told investigators he believed had happened.

The warrant also reveals other members of the family said James was “…unhappy about Victoria’s medical bills…”

Action 2 News spoke with James Prokopovitz by phone today. He says he willingly allowed investigators to search his property and said he would have let them do so without a warrant. He didn’t want to comment any further.

Reward Kept for Missing Woman

BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) - There will continue to be a reward offered for information leading to the finding of a Pittsfield woman who's been missing for over three years.

The family of Victoria Prokopovitz is offering a $17,000 reward until November 23, according to the Brown County Sheriff's Office. That reward has been increased several times over the years, but since last November it's remained at $17,000.

The then-60-year-old Prokopovitz was last seen on April 25, 2013, at her home on Kunesh Road. She left behind her purse, which held her ID, money and cell phone.

Even though more than three years have passed for Victoria Prokopovitz's daughter, Marsha Loritz, she'll always continue to look.

...

“It's been a nightmare ever since,” said Loritz. “We done searches on our own, we've have search teams come in.”

Her mother was last seen at home. She left behind her purse, ID, money and her cell phone. She had a history of some depression, but was doing well.

“She was happy, she didn't seem depressed,” said Loritz. “She just recovered from colon cancer the summer before.”

“She did not life a high-risk lifestyle,” said Det. Sgt. Roman Aronstein with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.

.... At this point, it's classified as a death investigation, according to detectives.

...
There's currently a reward for $17,000.

NBC26 asked if there's a suspect or person of interest. Investigators say they can't release any information that might jeopardize the case.

...

For Loritz, she explains she's found peace with her mother's disappearance. But now -- she needs closure.

“My mom deserves to be found and i hope people realize she's a person. It's hard to think that from a poster, but she is a person,” she said.

Investigators want to stress no tip is too little. If you have the slightest feeling you might know anything connected to the case, even someone acting out of the ordinary -- please report it. The smallest piece might be exactly what they need to bring these women home.

Vickie also smoked, her cigarettes were left with her purse and cell phone so you know she didn't just walk away. I'm really thankful LE have worked on Vickie's case, saying now it's a death investigation. I can't count the number of MP cases where this does not happen. I will be very happy when they make an arrest. It would not surprise me if LE have enough to charge "someone" without a body. Praying Marsha will be able to bury her beloved mother one day soon.

As a mother myself, I know Vickie is very proud of Marsha and how she has advocated not only for her mom, but for other missing. I know that not many people could do what Marsha does.

As part of her search effort, Loritz [her daughter] is again coordinating a billboard campaign in April that features information on missing persons – including her mother – throughout the state.

I can't believe Vicki hasn't been found yet. 4 years missing is way too long. I have to say she would be so proud of her daughter for all she's done to find her. Not many children can do what she does. I "met" her in fall of 2013; I told her everything I knew how to do on social media; she stepped up, did that plus way more. I pray every day Vicki will be found. Hopefully someone will get prosecuted for her disappearance. Vicki's case would be a good one for the Disappeared TV show

She would be so proud of Marsha. Im not sure how she continues to go on in the manner she has but its truly remarkable all she has done for not only her mom but all of the missing in Wisconsin. I hope one day Vicki is brought home for her children and there is some kind of justice.

Break in cold case gives hope to missing woman's daughter
A break in a 43-year-old cold case in Sturgeon Bay is giving hope to the hundreds of people who have friends or family who've gone missing in Wisconsin.

More than 200 people are listed as missing in Wisconsin. One of those missing people is Carol Jean Pierce. She disappeared from Sturgeon Bay in 1975 and has never been found. On Thursday, Pierce's husband, Richard, was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder. Click here for our full report on the Pierce case.

The progress made in the Pierce case is a comfort for Marsha Loritz of Bellevue. Marsha's mother, Victoria Prokopovitz, disappeared from 5118 Kunesh Road in Pittsfield on April 25, 2013. Prokopovitz, who was 60 at the time of her disappearance, left behind her purse, ID, money and cell phone.
There is a $17,000 reward for information leading to answers in the Victoria Prokopovitz case. If you have any information, contact the Brown County Sheriff’s Investigative Division at (920) 448-4230.
