Found Safe TX - LG, 14, & LGM, 7, Round Rock, 30 Dec 2017 #2

More playback of the interview from both girls when they recovered from TM. It is unbelievable on how grooming can affect a young person. The older girl kept lying for TM even after he killed her mother.

Williamson County charges still possible in connection to Tonya Bates' homicide

"Even after the [federal] trial, we’ll continue to pursue the homicide of Tonya Bates and as we continue to collect evidence and get all our evidence in, we will work closely with the district attorney’s office to determine if any other or further charges will be levied against Terry Miles, or any other person that we feel that is involved in this homicide," Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks explained.

In recess until tomorrow. It pisses me off reading this even though I understand that the mitigation specialist is only doing his/her job:
Molly Oak
@MollyAndAMic

The mitigation specialist reading the therapy notes of the teen--showed how often the teen's story changed; how she originally said Miles didn't kill her mom and said she wasn't afraid of him.

I don't know why that is even considered mitigating. The girl is a minor and Miles took her and her minor sister across state lines. If he was their "protector" as defense claims he could have taken them somewhere safe in Round Rock, like the police station. How does defense argue that they weren't afraid of him and he was "protecting" them?

Ugh. It's no stretch that one or both girls were reluctant to tell the truth about Miles; he's a violent criminal and that sure would scare me too!! Grr...
Defense attorneys are trying to portray Miles as a protector and that the sisters were not safe around their mother. One witness said Tonya Bates' oldest daughter claimed to not have a close relationship with her mom and that she went willingly with Miles.
Attorneys claim Terry Miles a protector; closing arguments coming soon
Miles defense portrays him as protector not predator

Sorry - not sorry - defense but Miles is a predator! And shaming their murdered mother on top of it. SMDH.

I hope that the fact that they had found TBs blood had dripped on to his shoe and his sweater had discolored spots (chlorine spots?) on it should be enough to get him the life sentence.

Texas man, 45, found guilty of kidnapping two girls, 7 and 14, after allegedly killing their mother | Daily Mail Online

A federal jury has convicted a man on kidnapping charges after he took two sisters from a Texas home where their mother was later found dead.

Terry Allen Miles, 45, was convicted Tuesday. Investigators say the 45-year-old was living with Tonya Bates in Round Rock to help look after her two daughters when they disappeared in December 2017.

'Today's verdict represents justice for the child victims of Terry Miles,' said U.S. Attorney Bash in a release. 'Mandatory minimums have been criticized recently, but I am glad that federal law requires defendants to serve at least 20 years—and up to life in prison—for these sorts of heinous acts against children.

'Thank you to our wonderful prosecution team – who worked without paychecks during the shutdocwn preparing for this trial – and to our partners at the FBI and the Round Rock Police Department.'

Judge Yeakel gave him life! Thank goodness as it appears Miles was already thinking about another mother with a young daughter. Ugh!
Yeakel also said that Miles should be placed in a prison that would provide him medical treatment for brain damage.

Defense lawyers showed a brain scan during the sentencing hearing that they said indicated part of Miles’ brain had holes in it. A defense lawyer had asked during the sentencing hearing Tuesday that Miles be sentenced to 30 years because his brain damage left him less “blameworthy.”

One of Miles’ ex-wives testified before Miles was sentenced Tuesday, saying he had beat her and put padlocks on their doors and windows while they were married. A prosecutor also presented a letter Miles had sent after he was found guilty to the mother of an inmate asking her to send a picture of her and her 10-year-old daughter.
