Asst. Federal Defender Elisabeth Pollock is about to cross-examine Seccombe when this break ends. So far, the defense has sharply scrutinized exactly what the presence of flourescent evidence means when luminol is deployed @AA

Seccombe testifies his team usually uses luminol to find evidence of cleaning. Pollock cross-exams him about what happens when you clean carpet. Seccombe has trouble following. "You've never cleaned carpet before?" she asks him. "No." he says. Laughter in the courtroom (!!!insert curse)
Seccombe eventually agrees they use it to find either evidence or lack of evidence. Then gov't calls Special Agent Courtney Corbett to the stand. Miller goes over all the same luminol evidence with her. They confirmed apartment maintenance had been there

Testimony from Charles Hill who bunked next door to Christensen at the Macon County Jail (in protective custody) got a little dicey. He said he was forced to by the FBI, otherwise would not have been there. Says he "took a liking" to Christensen.
Hill was verbally defensive when the defense team asked him to recall exactly what he said to the FBI about what Christensen told him about having a badge and police radio as well as zip ties when Zhang got into his car.

That could explain some things.

Because of the way he had to clean up his car so good, I think some or most of us think he hit her or did something to her in his car right after he picked her up to get her under his control. Whether he hit her with something or used a weapon like a knife or Tazer or something.

Then if she was still alive in the car, he may have had zip ties in the car to bind her hands and feet which would allow him to put her in the duffle bag before going back into his place. Using a duffle bag to take her to his apartment is almost identical to what he said in his reply post to the female soliciting someone to fake abduct/rape her for a sexual role playing escapade.

He posted that reply around the time Yingying went missing. It seems he was blending his fantasy role playing activities with real life and he was acting out on some of them for real.

If its true that his new GF helped introduce him to BDSM culture then it could not have come at a worse time as he was already delving into sick fantasies. She may have not realized how far off the deep end he was. There should have been some hints though.

I dont know much about the BDSM culture thankfully, except what little I have learned from watching movies and TV shows. My understanding is in a dominator/slave situation that there is usually a strict code word that is used to let the dominator know they are going too far and to stop.

I am surprised she did not get huge warning signs from him that he is a real dangerous person. Maybe she did. Her friends sure did by not letting him inside when he went visiting.

Pollock tried to point out that it wouldn't make sense to only clean up in certain areas, as the alternative lighting source photos suggested, because the carpet would look especially clean in some areas.

So LE did look in all the elbow drain traps and even took the kitchen sink. Good for them.

Ps I watched FBI interview with university detective and BC. They deserve gold medals for not leaping across the table and attacking him.

ikr - I could never do that job because I would have wanted to turn it into a scene like the old black and white movie scenes where the suspect is handcuffed alone in a back room while being interrogated by two huge mean looking police officers and their billy clubs to force him to give up the location of her.

I zoomed way in on that white thing in the box thingy to the left of the bed and the best I can guess is it is a plastic bag with something in it. Or maybe two plastic bags of the same type of thing. I cant tell what is in the plastic bags though.
I can see the ends of the bags look like they are tied with a twist tie is the only reason I think they are plastic bags of some sort.

ETA - There is another strange long white thing that is resting against the wall on the right hand side of the beds. I think it may be a white blow up mattress or maybe just a long white box or something.

That room seemed almost too clean like someone had moved out already or something. Not much left in that one room from that view.

Watched the entire questioning. Did anyone see the heavy heavy breathing Christensen showed when the agents called Him out on his lies? He almost passed out. Watch his legs, he had restless leg syndrome at points. Body language tells a lot. and his told a story.

i'm seriously creeped out by him.. he resembles a giant strong ectoplasm of horror to me.. a really dirty cloud of darkness. I'm surprised at the strength of my reaction. He has the super confidence that certain drugs bring... very dark, very spooky.

And I disagree I think this was a psychotic rage he went on. Let’s break this down. His WIFE leaves town with another man, BC is devastated, as we know one of the ONLY times he showed emotion in court was over his failing marriage.

MC is in Wisconsin the same place her and BC honeymoon, with another man. Brendt texts his other GF “TB” where she replies “I’m
Busy with another man”.

This sends Brendt into a rage. A demonic rage. He goes and buys booze, and develops his game plan. He thinks he is clever, posing as an undercover cop. Approaches Miss EH, As she initially accepts to answer questions, and when BC asks her to get in the car she backs up and declines.

Brendt goes home. Absolutely furious. 3 females have declined him today. That’s it. Drinks a little more liquor, finds YY, kidnaps, and unleashes a fury on anger.

Closing Arguments Expected This Week in Death-Penalty Trial of Brendt Christensen

That means closing arguments and jury deliberations could begin as early as Friday, bringing to an end the guilt phase of the trial, where prosecutors attempt to prove the defendant committed the crime of which they’re accused. Should he be convicted, a sentencing phase would begin at a date specified by the judge. The same jury would sit for that phase, which is expected to be a lengthier process because the death penalty would be on the table.
