He could have been a civilian and still worked as a Information Technology Specialist for the army, so that would explain why he only worked there for 1 year 10 months. I find it odd how he went to USU from 2009-2017 but doesn't have a degree on his LinkedIn.

@MassGuy does that mean we discuss?
Ha! This is a weird situation, because law enforcement itself hasn’t released his name.

This is a gray area. We’ll need a mod’s approval.
@liltexans, we're chomping at the bit here. Do we need to wait for LE to name the POI to sleuth him or is MSM enough? TIA :)

Timeline of missing student Mackenzie Lueck's movements in Salt Lake City before disappearance
Although details regarding the case have been scarce, investigators have established a timeline of the last few hours during which Lueck's location was known.

See article for timeline...
"Mackenzie Lueck was first reported missing early on June 17, only a short time after she had landed at the Salt Lake City Airport."
Is this true? I thought she wasn't reported until Thursday.

Earlier someone questioned the bed frame that mattress and box springs were used on. I just looked closely at the photo of the mattress and it is indeed a wooden frame with a head and foot board in what looks like a light green or grey color. I wonder where it went? Has anyone seen it listed online?

Sorry if this has already been posted, but I’m thinking about the bonfires. Per the last-known pic they released of her from the airport, she’s carrying a big tote bag like one I have from Michael Kors/Kate Spade/Coach, etc. Those are usually leather. According to the web, leather will begin to burn at around 850 degrees Fahrenheit. The typical bonfire burns at around 2000 degrees F. Most online sources say that burning leather smells like burning hair.

I can’t see any pics of her actual luggage, but any plastic would really smell as it burned, especially if she had a hard-sided suitcase...

I burned some leather scraps from a upholstery project and it took forever to get them burnt. I made a fire every weekend for a month and still had some pieces that could easily be picked up. I only noticed a strong chemical odor that I felt like was from chemicals used in tanning the hide. no hint of burning hair odor to me.

Oh good grief, I didn't notice that or I wouldn't have posted it. Definitely not accurate! Good catch, kkdj. MOO

He was wearing an Army uniform in one of his pictures. A contractor would never be allowed to wear that.

I’m expecting to hear about a medical discharge, an other than honorable discharge, or a dishonorable discharge.

I've been following along with all the latest developments and here's my tentative/evolving theory based on what we know and has been reported in MSM, including some identification of the POI:

1. I believe that they had a casual, friends-with-benefits relationship and that they had gotten together at least once before, though don't feel strongly about that.
2. I believe that he fantasized about murder previously but don't think he's a serial killer.
3. I think this was pre-meditated to an extent - but it depends on how far in advance they had planned to meet and how deep their relationship was. Could have been they already had talked about meeting up when she returned - OR they both could have been online or on an app at the same time, and the plot evolved from there.
4. I think the late hour coupled with the fact that she was coming in from out of town made him think that it was a good time to carry his plan out. Even though he had already texted with her, he then set out to try to minimize any connections to her that could later be made:
- Not picking her up at the airport
- Making her turn off her phone
I can imagine that maybe he did make up some excuse for not picking her up at the airport and having her meet at the park - that maybe he was coming from somewhere, or his house was hard to find, etc. As far as turning off her phone - I don't think she had a choice about it.
5. I think the delay in reporting her missing and her story getting out there must have given him a false sense of security - which is why he decided to get rid of the mattress, do burning, etc. - I'm sure he thought that if LE hadn't contacted him by now, he was in the clear. He might have even been surprised that no one had reached out.
6. I think testing of what they found at the house is the holdup now. They need to know if her presence was established there, whether there is proof that she is not likely to be alive (blood stains in large quantity, other evidence) before they can officially charge him.

Also, can we please stop with the Lyft driver already? Sheesh!

Thinking of @yellowmoose and all those who loved Kenzie. I can't imagine how sick and worried they must feel right now!

Interesting note on the POI. His resume doesn’t match his profile on LinkedIn. In one place he says he works for Dell, the other says IBM. I get the impression that he isn’t very high up in his field and he might be just “help desk” tech support. Could even work from home.

Edit to delete part about the Army. It’s already been addressed.
