LA - Sadie Roberts-Joseph, 75, found dead in trunk of car, Baton Rouge, 12 July 2019 *ARREST*

Louisiana coroner: Museum founder was suffocated to death | WTOP
“She was just a very likeable person and that is why the community is so outraged,” Marcelle said. “It’s really a shock to the entire Baton Rouge community. It’s just a shock.”

Recently Marcelle said she’d put the lieutenant governor’s office in touch with Roberts-Joseph so they could work together on a civil rights trail project across Louisiana. Marcelle said Roberts-Joseph often came to the council to speak on various issues. She was soft-spoken and even if she disagreed with you on an issue, she did it respectfully, Marcelle said.

"A Louisiana coroner has ruled the death of a 75-year-old woman who founded Baton Rouge's African American history museum a homicide by suffocation.

East Baton Rouge Coroner Beau Clark released preliminary autopsy results Monday that show Sadie Roberts-Joseph was suffocated to death before her body was found in the trunk of a car Friday.

He said Roberts-Joseph died from "traumatic asphyxia, including suffocation." This means her airways were physically blocked, cutting off her oxygen supply."

Asphyxia including suffocation doesn’t explain if there are ligature marks of any kind, bruising patterns, or any other bodily damage that might include defence markings etc. Anyone know anything?

DylanChap: CNN said something a bit different than the article I quoted (which Alice linked to in post #18):
"The preliminary cause of death was "traumatic asphyxia, including suffocation," the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office determined following a Monday autopsy.
The 75-year-old did not die by strangulation, coroner Beau Clark told CNN, saying without elaboration that her nose and mouth were blocked. Asked if he found any wounds on her body, Clark said he is not releasing any such details at this time. A toxicology report will be available in three weeks, he said."

So that would be suffocation, not strangulation?

Did anyone have any life insurance policies out on her? Sometimes suffocation is seen as a 'gentle' way to kill someone.

I am thinking duct tape.
I sure hope they find who killed her, the two-hour window and anonymous is an issue for me. Was she really w her sister making cornbread or she went to the store and never returned?

"Ronn Jermaine Bell has been identified as the suspect arrested in the murder of Sadie Roberts-Joseph, an advocate for peace and unity in her Baton Rouge community, police announced on July 16, four days after she was found dead in the trunk of her own car.

The 38-year-old Bell was a tenant in one of Roberts-Joseph’s rental properties and was behind on his rent, Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul Jr. Bell is a registered sex offender in Louisiana, according to online records. He is being held at the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail on charges of being a fugitve from justice for violating the terms of his probation and for failure to meet the requirements of his sex offender registration, jail records show.

A Louisiana coroner ruled her cause of death a homicide due to traumatic asphyxia including suffocation. Police said they do not believe it was a hate crime or that the killing was motivated by Roberts-Joseph’s activism and other community efforts. But Chief Paul said the investigation is ongoing and a motive has not been determined...

Ronn Jermaine Bell was convicted of sexual battery in 2007. He served several years in prison. According to prosecutors, Bell was accused of attempted rape on an 8-year-old girl.

Bell was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail on July 16 on charges connected to violating the conditions of his lifetime sex offender registration, according to online records.

So sorry, Sadie !

Possibly killed by a worthless low life, who should not have been walking free in the first place !

For the child assault alone he should never have been allowed to walk free.
She was only 8 years old !
He makes me want to spit in his face; except I do not want to get in close enough proximity, to this worthless garbage.

Sadie Roberts-Joseph’s accused murderer allegedly covered her body in bleach, argues DNA was planted at crime scene

Jul 23, 2019

"BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A warrant filed Monday, July 15, shows investigators wanted samples of hair from Ronn Jermaine Bell Sr., the man accused of strangling Baton Rouge icon, Sadie Roberts-Joseph, before allegedly abandoning her body in the trunk of a car, after finding small black fibers on bleach bottles in Bell’s home.

Documents filed Friday, July 19 show attorneys representing Bell argued he was arrested Monday, July 15 for failing to comply with requirements related to his sex offender status. During that arrest, Bell was allegedly questioned about Roberts-Joseph’s death, was photographed, and had “chunks” of hair seized from two places on his head. Attorneys claim those chunks of hair were snatched from Bell’s head without consent to falsely link him to the crime scene.

"He was swabbed for DNA after law enforcement seized chunks of [Bell’s] hair. The DNA in his saliva and his hair will be the same DNA. Law enforcement seized his hair before they executed the affidavit for the arrest warrant. For what purpose would law enforcement need chunks of his hair, prior to executing the search warrant? For what purpose would law enforcement need hair and then saliva, in that order? Saliva alone would be sufficient to compare any and all DNA that allegedly was found. However, the seizure of chunks of his hair in the possession of ‘bad actors’ exposes him to a prejudice that he may be unable to recover from and unduly prejudiced by, especially if the hair that was seized from his head by law enforcement on Monday, July 15, 2019 is the hair that was referenced in the arrest warrant affidavit (from July 16, 2019) as being “found on the deceased,” Bell’s attorneys wrote in the filing...."
