#BREAKING: At least 4 dead and 2 injured in a series of stabbings in Garden Grove. The crimes scenes are at several different locations. One person was seen in handcuffs but it's unconfirmed right now if he's the suspect. We have crews at the scene gathering information. #CBSLA

Man Arrested After Stabbing Spree in Orange County

• Subway restaurant in the 3800 block of West First Street
• 7-Eleven on the intersection of West First Street and Harbor Boulevard and attacking a security guard there, the Santa Ana Police Department said.
• Double-stabbing in Garden Grove on Jentges Avenue.

Started at 4 pm with a burglary
423 pm robbery at bakery
504 pm another call multiple stab wounds 2 men in apt--both deceased
540 pm another robbery at check cashing business--no victims
? time--robbery at insurance business--employee on the ground stabbed
609 pm Chevron stabbed man who was pumping gas with a machete-victim nose almost severed
??? time--stabbed security guard--deceased
??? time--stabbed at Subway--deceased

I think that's all of the crime scenes

ETA--suspect 33 yo hispanic male, no motive, guy was full of hate, very angry, all victims hispanics, all deceased male

• Suspect has a sibling who was killed in Santa Ana
• He is sole suspect
• Have been child custody incidents--he took the child
• Not sure if drugs were involved--TBD
• Mercedes was registered to him
• 2 victims at apartment--1 caucasian, 1 hispanic
• He is eligible for the DP
• He was released early from custody for previous offense which was possession of meth with an assault rifle
• He didn't speak during the attacks
• He told LE it wasn't blood on him, it was tomato juice
• They will release any video of the attacks they have after editing--within an hour

BBM. And that's the problem with AB 109 in California. If the last crime was non violent they are eligible for early release regardless of previous violent convictions. This guy was far from the first and he definitely won't be the last

I noticed that as well, hardly a mention. Guess it’s because it wasn’t a gun, although a knife is a assault weapon. Any item that is used to assault someone with is an assault weapon.

That's his grinning face. He's very proud of what he did.

He may get the death penalty and be sent to San Quentin, but he most probably won't be executed for many years or decades. The guards there need to be very careful, as there's little doubt he will kill again at any opportunity. There's a deep hatred here for police and authority figures.

The Supermax prison is a more appropriate place for him, but that's a federal one, so California is stuck with him.

In a more normal and just society he would have been shot on sight as he emerged from the 7-11. Now taxpayers will foot the bill for his 40-50 years of incarceration and endless appeals.
