CT CT - New Britain, B & M RR Tracks, Wht/HispFem 25-35, UP8821, Skeletal, unique teeth, white sun dress w/ panda bear pattern, Oct'91

Some of her facial features are hard to discern due to the nature of clay recons being mono-colored. So I made a colored version FBI recon.
Please note that the eye color, hair style, and clothing are/might be inaccurate.
That is actually well done. Skin texture and colouring is quite difficult to do, so good work, Xyklone :)

Update (and a call for action) from DDP:

"DNA Doe Project Case Announcement: New Britain Jane Doe - Connecticut, 1991

Status: DNA from New Britain Jane Doe (NBJD) has finished sequencing and is currently undergoing genetic genealogy analysis.

Who was New Britain Jane Doe?
A survey crew found the badly decomposed body of a woman near the railroad tracks on Myrtle Street in New Britain, Connecticut on 11 October 1991. She died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities believe New Britain Jane Doe is white or Hispanic and in her late 20s. She was approximately 5’5, weighed 130 – 135 pounds, and was wearing a jumper-style dress with a panda bear print. She had medium length straight black hair.

No one in New Britain reported her missing. In 2011, the FBI created an approximation from her skull, (updated again in 2018). After exhumation, she was laid to rest in an unmarked grave.

The DNA Doe Project submitted sample material for New Britain Jane Doe to the lab for DNA extraction on 23 October 2018, and her DNA was then sequenced and uploaded to GEDmatch for research. DNA Doe Project volunteers are currently researching her matches.

Although New Britain Jane Doe's admixture is diverse, many of her matches have Puerto Rican ancestry, and currently, our researchers are focusing their research mainly in that region. We encourage our friends in underrepresented communities to consider transferring their raw DNA data to gedmatch.com (be sure to OPT IN) and Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) (both services are free to transfer, but always read the Terms of Service). To help with this case, those with Puerto Rican ancestors are encouraged to upload. NBJD's admixture results are included in this post.

Many thanks to our thoughtful supporters for their continued support and interest in the DNA Doe Project.
Our thanks to the FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation Visual Arts Unit for the reconstruction approximating how New Britain Jane Doe may have looked.

Unfortunately, that is something of a sketchy part of the city, with a considerable amount of drug and other illegal activities. I hate to say it, but if someone did see or know something about this woman or her death, they probably won't come forward.

DNA Doe Project

Small update.

But that new reconstruction.... I've seen the PM and I am confused.

ETA: Oh wait.. I saw the identified New Britain Doe's PM, my fault. I retract my opinion.

I still think that’s a very weird recon.. It looks more like a surrealistic artwork than a facial reconstruction of an actual person.

Don’t mean to sound offensive (it’s not like I would do a better job), I’m just a bit confused by the “style”.

(Can’t add the picture from my phone)

Lots of sketches are done from the post mortem photo taken at the crime scene or from mortuary, so strangeness might be due her position of the body/face expression at that time.

Back in August I submitted Luz Celenia Ortiz Perez (source: Doe Network) for comparison to New Britain Jane Doe. Luz disappeared from Puerto Rico in November 1987. I just happened to be researching her case when the DDP released the update on Facebook about her potential origins and such. I decided to try my hand at ancestry/genealogy research (albeit a poor first attempt). I didn’t expect much and very probably didn’t find much, but I did get a call back from the NBPD Captain and she seemed to think it was a promising lead. I haven’t heard back from her so I don’t have much more than that. Hopefully both cases are resolved soon!

Just wanted to share for people who cannot see the Google sheet:

New Britain Jane Doe shows signs of endogamy--which is marriage within a community. This is going to be a difficult case for DDP, but they have done it before with Louise Flesher and "Lyle Stevik".

She has 148 matches over 40 cm and her highest is 147.3 cm.

@Liv27 I love all your DDP updates!! (The process/spreadsheet is still somewhat confusing for me :p)

I spoke with a female detective (lieutenant I think) on the UID side of the case, concerning a possible match and have not heard back from her! I’ve been anxious ever since! The MP met all the criteria, and seeing you mention endogamy makes me wonder if my inexperience with Ancestry.com might actually have been my first encounter with it (endogamy)?! Because I went as far with MP’s tree as I possibly could. (Again, speaking as a novice)!

I can’t wait to know more!!

Thank you! I’m trying to let everyone know the progress.

Her family is most likely related to each other in more than one way. That’s what happens with endogamy. They’ve solved ones that were more difficult.

Your efforts are much appreciated!! If not for you, I’d not be privy to half the updates concerning DDP’s cases!

The victim was located near railroad tracks on Myrtle Street in New Britain, CT. Near to what was once called "The Fafnir Building".

There were no apparent matches in the New Britain area.

She was buried in 2003 and exhumed in 2011 for the FBI to create a facial reconstruction.

The DNA Doe Project is currently invesigating the victim's case. They have had difficulty narrowing down suitable matches for the woman, but released a list of potential surnames in August 2019. The closest detectable relatives of the woman were in New York, Connecticut and Puerto Rico (specifically near the Moca area).

The names include:
Acevedo, Aviles,
