Are you in the UK? It's blocked in NZ but international media don't have to abide by the name suppression. They were just strongly encouraged to and told they'd be banned from court if they didn't. In NZ I get this message:

Right, I've gone straight to the news to see the verdict and haven't read any of the posts here since I went to bed at 2.30am, except a few just above this. I actually cried with relief.

I've seen Prime's reply to @mrjitty 's post just above and I want to guess what he is is referring to before I read back. Accused worked at CityLife? That was going to be my guess a few days ago when I saw video of him outside the hotel in his waistcoat, trying to evade the police who ran after him.

No doubt about his guilt for me, well done to the jury. I hope Grace's parents can travel home without a single shred of embarrassment about their beautiful daughter. No parents should ever have to go through this ordeal.

I am in the UK, and the article did say that a request for anonymity by the defence had been rejected, although he was not to be named in NZ, As all media outlets since have said the name is suppressed for legal reasons, and all footage is pixilated, I assumed at some point the ban had become international.
It seems wrong that Grace's private life was held up in public in a victim-blaming manner, while the guilty party can hide behind a mask.

If it makes you feel any better NZ is a very small place. A lot of people know his name and know the circumstances behind the suppression or know someone who does. There are also a lot of people with friends of friends who dated him and have horror stories. His name might be suppressed but he's not completely hidden from the public's scrutiny.
 
Also, he's going to have a hellish time in jail. Based on his strange way of talking and walking, put him in a gang-dominant, minority heavy, macho man climate in prison, and he's going to have a bad time. NZers have huge national pride and this man is seen as shaming us to the world.

So what is the reason for the name suppression?
 
Guess that's basically it.

An absolute tragedy. He didn't deserve a girl like her, even for the night he had. Or stole.

Her parents look wrecked. I don't know what to say about that.

It's a beautiful sunset here on the west coast of Australia. For some reason it feels like there's something about to this pink and yellow horizon for her.

It's oft-repeated but you just sit here and realise she won't have a dinner with her family, meet more boys, laugh with her mates, see my country or many more like she intentioned.

If she accidentally swiped the wrong way, none of us would never have even known about her.

Won't forget this case.

I'm off for a beach sitting in the rocks, looking out at the last slither of sun.

Yup. Seems like his only previous charge was for drink driving, but there’s at least one still to come. I’m glad because by the sounds of it he’s been traumatising women and hurting them for a long time. He deserves as much justice as possible rained down on him.

You know the phrase 'if its sounds too good to be true' ? Well, I apply a similar theory to cases like this ... if you hear the evidence and think 'I think he's an effing nutter' he probably is. If you read here and think you'd rather be poked in the eye with a sharp stick than spend a minute alone in a locked hotel room with him ... there's good reason for that.

I had zero doubt he'd be found guilty because it was very evident that he was guilty.

My personal opinion - I'm not even convinced they had consensual sex at all. I'm in no way at all convinced that any of this was at Graces suggestion or request.

If you told me ... they went back at 10p.m had consensual sex - rough or otherwise and fell asleep, then woke up a while later and he tried to initiate something and Grace declined then he got angry - (I've had 2 ex's, both long term relationships where they were great blokes until they'd had a lot to drink and THEN they were like Jekly & Hyde - oh and in fact, my own Dad was the exact same) and THAT'S when it all went downhill, I could believe that ...

If you told me they had rough consensual sex, Grace acquired some minor bruising - they fell asleep or spent time talking etc then more sexual contact - such as the experience the witness described - he is the 6 in one half of a 69 as it were - and the actual death occurred because of the same 'technique' he used on the witness ... no defence wounds or skin beneath Grace's nails as he'd have her arms pinned ... I could buy that.

He has a very obvious foot fetish and I believe he got heightened arousal by watching his victims feet thrash while he basically suffocated them with his genitals/crotch.

IF there's a pending rape trial, I feel immense empathy for that victim. I dread to think what the defence will put her through in court and the likelihood is, he and every rapist (unless there's full video & audio) are far more likely to get away with it as it usually comes down to his word v her word and if the defence can persuade an ex if the victim to say she was promiscuous then ...

Anyway! Absolutely, hats off to the NZ police and the prosecution and as always, thoughts are will Graces poor heartbroken family.

Very strong comment from his family. Glad they agree and the fact they dont seem surprised at the result and his behaviour speaks volumes!
 
A few thoughts tonight:

1) if behind in rent AND just lost his job that day, I’m now thinking this could totally be a premeditated ragey killing

2) seems highly likely is up on a very serious charge, with the trial in 2021

3) why so far away for that trial? Grace’s went to trial within a year. I’m wondering if his victim is a minor?

4) with what we know and suspect, Brookie quite possibly deliberately did a sub par job. Someone said he’s normally pretty good? Maybe he just legitimately didn’t give a *advertiser censored* about this guy and wanted him to go to jail?

I don’t think he purposefully did a subpar job I just think he didn’t have *advertiser censored* to work with. Grace’s murderer had already dug his own grave before he even had a client. It would have taken a miracle for a jury to see past all the evidence stacked against him
