GUILTY NEW ZEALAND - Grace Millane, 22, British backpacker, Auckland, 1 Dec 2018 #3

That NZ Herald article is so illuminating!

He lost his job the day he killed her right?! YIKES. his house of cards was collapsing. so when he was running around in a vest outfit uniform type garb on CCTV and police interviews he wasn’t wearing that for work?

he sent that other girl in the article Snapchats of him sitting on the toilet? Charmer

I was annoyed by name suppression but glad the NZ press is reporting so much on him. I can see why it is important not to mess with upcoming trials as there is a chance on Graces murder he could be on a parole while still relatively young

I’m just thinking, are we in the U.K. allowed to publish/quote news articles on the thread where he’s named? Technically we’re not doing anything wrong right?
The press over here are naming him and spilling more details ...

I can't see a problem in providing links, but probably best not to type his name in text.

I hope the police are going to release more of his interviews. I'd like to see the part where he's confronted with more evidence that he's lying, and asks for a lawyer. I think they've only shown the part where he is caught out bringing a suitcase back at a time he says he was sleeping the next morning. They must have shown him footage of Grace going back with him to the hotel, surely or I don't see how he realised he'd been caught.

Well that opens a great big can of worms
Honestly I think the writer of that article is misstating it. In court it was said they were Pornhub searches, that is a well known site and that type illegal content is not on there. I remember something he searched had the term “young” but can’t find a citation for that. Maybe that is where the author is confusing what he searched.

unless she knows something that came out in court about his internet searches but was not reported at the time

The NZ Herald article referring several times to his thievery IMO suggests what he was up to in the Bluestone CCTV when he pawed through her purse while she was in the ladies room

My thoughts on the second suitcase are that he may have inadvertently used his card to purchase the first one, or realised he was on the shops cctv buying it when they released the cctv image of Grace, and was planning for being questioned about it being missing. He was pleased as punch when he told the detective it was still in his room and they could check it.
Yes, I thought it was very telling when he immediately said, 'well if you think I did something with that suitcase, I still have it in my room if you want to see it.'
Also, I'm sure the investigator suspected him right away when he informed him they believed foul play was involved and that she had been murdered and he just kept responding, "right, ok," without showing any surprise or emotion whatsoever.
Then he immediately went on defense.

Imo

Yes - it was absolutely telling. 'We know you were out buying a suitcase when you said you were asleep' does not immediately compute to an accusation of 'we don't think you still have the case and you put Grace in it'. He gave himself away.

Well spotted! You're so right, guess this is sort of thing Detectives are trained for in interrogation

Not gonna lie...quite clever of the DM. Not naming him so they get court access but now that he is found guilty saying "**** it" and naming him.
Although they may have eliminated the possibility to attend any upcoming trials in connection to him.
