My stomach dropped when I read the text message she sent her friend. She pretty much felt she was in trouble.

Problem is if she really was in trouble, she wouldn’t have the opportunity to call that friend.

Now I’m going to say it. We teach our children stranger danger from an early age. It’s out there, it’s real, and we deal with it here on a regular basis. It happens. That is why we teach our children to be leery of strangers, don’t talk to them, don’t take anything from them and never go with them. Ever.

Women are told to listen to their gut. It’s usually right. IMO

I hope LE is/was able to find footage that shows what happened after the three of them left the Tin Roof. Did they walk somewhere? Got into a car? Which direction did they go? I hope they left in a car and LE is able to make out a number. But if they were seen getting into a car wouldn't they have released a description by now and asked the public to report any sightings of it?

Whatever angle I look at it, it doesn't look hopeful. Very worried!

As in most cases....LE knows a lot more than we do. Usually when they are quiet like this there is a very good reason. They may still believe there's the possibility that she's alive somewhere. They may know who the men are already. I just feel that there's something that BPD has discovered, and that's why they are not asking yet.

Houston’s family says she left the location Friday, Dec. 20th around 10:45 p.m. They say she’s a loving person who always kept in touch.

Houston’s father, Doug Houston says the family is getting updates from detectives.

“The detective on the case said he followed some leads and it didn’t turn out to be anything,” says Doug Houston.

Police say Houston did not leave the bar alone and that surveillance video appears to show her leaving with two heavy set men. Authorities say that it appears she left willingly.

Our requests for the video and pictures was denied.

A BPD representative said the footage is currently being reviewed by investigators.

No further detailed description of the two men seen leaving the bar with Houston was available.

Except, on this very thread, on a board where our sole purpose is to sleuth missing persons, a poster said (paraphrased), why bother sleuthing this, adults go off voluntarily with other adults all the time. God forbid anyone in LE has that attitude, this poor woman may never be found.

The thought of Aniah Blanchard enters my mind. LE didn't release the video stills of IY for quite a while. When they did, he was ID'd and the case moved forward quickly.
Is it a mistake for BPD not to release video or stills? If they know who the men are and have made contact, no need. If they have no idea who the men are, then I feel they need to release to the public. As I typed that I realize if they panic at being identified and still have her, it could jeopardize Paighton's safety.

There doesn't seem to be a sense of urgency, which given the text doesn't make sense to me. The Houston family has been told by BPD not to discuss the case with the media or public. I have mixed feelings about that.

That all tends to indicate they think she's alive and in potential danger.

It's possible they're waiting to get enhanced stills from the video back from a lab.

I’m just hoping LE is on top of this and knows what is up with Peighton. I hope she’s safe and LE knows it now, since putting out the missing persons report but the silence is telling me something different. They are in investigation mode and putting their ducks in a row. IMO

...you don't think jumping in a car with two men that you don't know isn't completely irresponsible behaviour? ...PH did something that is extremely risky, and is now likely paying the price for it. We cannot just simply go through life with the assumption that everything and everyone is rosy, that is simply not the case.
Sad to say, when we drink alcohol, our inhibitions and rational thinking are lowered. It happened with Savannah Spurlock in Kentucky and didn't end well. I am very afraid for this young lady.

I made some really stupid decisions when I was young. My guardian angels were working overtime, protecting me from harm. I unfortunately fear for this young lady's welfare.

I was hoping that these guys would release her unharmed. The longer that she remains missing, the more I think that she is dead. I sure hope that I am wrong.

There are cameras everywhere in today's society. Police are hopefully looking at video. Why haven't they released any of it to the public, asking for them to identify the guys--or have they?

This girl is not voluntarily missing, IMO.

BTW - I used to live Hoover, AL. (Note: I have lived in a lot of states, having moved about 25x in my adult life.) I oftentimes would go to nightclubs and pubs in the Southside/Highland area. That was a safe area where business people would congregate back in the day (late 80's/early 90's).

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —

UPDATE 12/24: A Birmingham bar issued a statement related to the disappearance of a Trussville woman after she was last seen leaving the bar with two men Friday.

Police say 29-year-old Paighton Houston was last seen leaving the Tin Roof bar in the Lakeview District Friday night with two heavyset black men. Officials say she appeared to leave with the men willingly.

Family members say no one has been able to reach Houston since she sent an alarming text stating she didn't know where she was and believed she was in trouble.

Tin Roof posted the following statement on their Instagram page Tuesday:

"If anyone has any info, contact Birmingham police at 205-297-8413. We have been in contact with them and have shared any info needed to assist since the report, including all of our staff that worked that evening. As a common industry practice, we hire off duty uniformed police to be onsite during busy times. They were working onsite during this time as well. We hope and pray for Paighton's safe return and encourage anyone to reach out with any information."

My heart is heavy as I know so many of my family are for our cousin. I know I have posted the past two days about my first cousin’s daughter’s disappearance since Friday PM. This is their family. I wanted you to see how family oriented she is. All these pictures are from her page. This family will face Christmas Eve tomorrow without knowing what has happened to their daughter, sister, and aunt. The local news is sharing daily asking for any leads but it can’t portray who she is nor the unanswered questions as to the time of events and last text received We all make mistakes and get ourselves into situations that we regret but she did text her best friend that she was in trouble. She is missing and we are praying they can find what happened to her. I want to thank the many friends who have shared the news post to get others to pray, the comments and words of encouragement and faith. Her family is trying not to give up and to have Hope. It has been overwhelming to hear from you and know you are hurting for us & with us. I thank you for caring. Paighton loves her family and would never willingly hurt them in any way by not contacting them with her sister flying home and brother and family driving up. Please keep praying for her and this loving sweet family of mine.

What a nightmare.

Can you imagine something being slipped into your drink and you appear to be willingly leaving with two strangers from a bar? You are at a home and go into the bathroom and text a family member. "I have no idea where I am and don't know how to get out of here."

You have no way out because you are still drugged and there are two guys much bigger and stronger than you are who won't let you leave. It would be like a nightmare episode of "The Twilight Zone."

This seems similar to the Savannah Spurlock case, to me.

This is all speculation on my part and just my opinion.

I see similarities to OA's case in Boston earlier this year, where she was escorted away from a bar while intoxicated by Victor Pena, who held her captive in his apartment for days. At least that case had an unexpected and positive ending with her rescue. Hoping for a good outcome here.

Note that OA's name has been removed from all MSM accounts since she is a victim, and I think the thread has been removed here as well.

So my question is was she there alone? Were friends with her? Was she there at the bar frequently? Also why have the two men not come foward if nothing to do with her disappearance ?

Maybe they have and police just haven't released that information.

If they weren't involved, they probably wouldn't want to be dragged through social media mobs.
