I don't know who wrote this as it was sent to me in a text, but hopefully everyone can feel better soon and we all can get back to normal. My heart hurts after reading some of your posts and almost feeling your pain through your words. Just remember that we are a strong country and we will get through this together. Love and hugs to you all.

"When this is over, may we never again take for granted

A handshake with a stranger

Full shelves at the store

Conversations with neighbors

A crowded theater

Friday night out

The taste of communion

A routine checkup

The school rush each morning

Coffee with a friend

The stadium roaring

Each deep breath

A boring Tuesday

Life itself.

When this ends

may we find

that we have become

more like the people

we wanted to be

we were called to be

we hoped to be

and may we stay

that way — better

for each other

because of the worst."

World Health Organization offers tips for living under coronavirus quarantine: Don't drink, smoke or watch too much news

“During this difficult time, it’s important to continue looking after your physical and mental health. This will not only help you in the long-term, it will also help you fight COVID-19 if you get it,” Tedros said.
  • Eat healthy to boost your immune system.
  • Limit alcohol and sugary drinks.
  • Don’t smoke. It can exacerbate COVID-19 symptoms and increase your risk of getting seriously sick.
  • Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day for adults and an hour a day for kids.
  • If you’re allowed to go outside, go for a walk, run or bike ride while keeping a safe distance from others.
  • If you can’t leave the house, dance, do some yoga or walk up and down the stairs.
  • People working from home shouldn’t sit too long in the same position.
  • Take a 3 minute break every 30 minutes.
  • Get your mind off of the crisis. Listen to music, read a book or play a game.
“It’s normal to feel stressed, confused and scared during a crisis. Talking to people you know and trust can help,” Tedros said. “And try not to read or watch too much news if it makes you anxious. Get your information from reliable sources once or twice a day.”

I am far more thoughtful about meal preparation, because I have no where to go.

Tonight's dinner will be Detroit style pizza. Off to start the dough now.

Thanks for the reminder! Back in the day, I'd prepare two kinds of dough to please family members' preferences.

Now? Well, I think one of the Cauliflower crusts is in the freezer.

Not liking this low-carb business, but hubster's Doctor said so.

Cooking is nearly a lost skill/art in the US, we as a nation need to do more of it.

Hear, hear. I have noticed that I cut down my portion sizes and think more strategically to reduce food waste. Not so much out of virtue, but maybe just my subsistence farmer genes kicking in, LOL. If you think about it, most of us come from that stock, no matter where our ancestors came from.

If anyone needs to take a deep breath and get out of their head for a few minutes, here's my prescription:

ETA: It's video surveillance of a "log" across a stream in Pennsylvania. Talk about diversity in wildlife! And, the sound of running water is a sound I like.

Good morning, my friends. I am only able to catch a handful of posts here and there. Has anyone mentioned or thought about working on cardio to help improve lung function as maybe a precaution ? I have no idea if it would help but....

I suddenly want to start running every day. And not for the wine.

Practicing a healthy lifestyle has always been at the top of my list! Sadly, as we know, a lot of the people falling prey to Covid 19 suffered from compromised health. As a nation, we have too much obesity, alcoholism & addiction, some people probably think “I’m already screwed” and don’t care if they spread the virus. Moo

Lockdown

A reflection by Brother Richard of the Capuchin Franciscans

Yes there is fear.
Yes there is isolation.
Yes there is panic buying.
Yes there is sickness.
Yes there is even death.
But,
They say that in Wuhan after so many years of noise
You can hear the birds again.
They say that after just a few weeks of quiet
The sky is no longer thick with fumes
But blue and grey and clear.
They say that in the streets of Assisi
People are singing to each other
across the empty squares,
keeping their windows open
so that those who are alone
may hear the sounds of family around them.
They say that a hotel in the West of Ireland
Is offering free meals and delivery to the housebound.
Today a young woman I know
is busy spreading fliers with her number
through the neighbourhood
So that the elders may have someone to call on.
Today Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Temples
are preparing to welcome
and shelter the homeless, the sick, the weary
All over the world people are slowing down and reflecting
All over the world people are looking at their neighbours in a new way
All over the world people are waking up to a new reality
To how big we really are.
To how little control we really have.
To what really matters.
To Love.
So we pray and we remember that
Yes there is fear.
But there does not have to be hate.
Yes there is isolation.
But there does not have to be loneliness.
Yes there is panic buying.
But there does not have to be meanness.
Yes there is sickness.
But there does not have to be disease of the soul
Yes there is even death.
But there can always be a rebirth of love.
Wake to the choices you make as to how to live now.
Today, breathe.
Listen, behind the factory noises of your panic
The birds are singing again
The sky is clearing,
Spring is coming,
And we are always encompassed by Love.
Open the windows of your soul
And though you may not be able
to touch across the empty square,
Sing

Me, too! Any leftovers in the fridge two days later are going into the freezer for lunches!

I believe in it. Though, I always have. I feel a bit off key if I don’t do some sort of workout or exercise everyday. Even just a walk or a yoga class. Lots of them online now.

For many, this could be the time to work on being/getting/ staying healthy. Jmo.

Audible just made hundreds of titles completely free to help during coronavirus crisis
Good news for those stuck at home in isolation: Audible is making hundreds of titles available for free during the coronavirus pandemic.

The audiobook platform has said that, for as long as schools are closed, anyone can listen to a vast selection of its titles. This means books read by Westworld’s Thandie Newton and Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens are available to stream at no cost at all.
