The food bank I’ve ‘worked’ at for over 10 years is still open but supplies are becoming extremely limited. About 85% of what we offer comes from local retailers’ overstock with the other 15% coming from generous community donations. Due to the current climate, both have been drastically reduced. I know times are tough and the issue of homelessness can be an extremely polarizing one but if you have any extra pantry items that you know you won’t use please consider donating. I know where I volunteer now, if you call we will pick them up from your porch or front door. No contact involved.

Empowering and helping those who are underserved has been a passion of mine for years (even helped solve a missing persons case here on WS much to my surprise).

GEORGIA.....30 VENTILATORS???? THAT WILL BE ENOUGH FOR DAY 1....what about EMS? Do they get an N95?

Over the weekend, we distributed 268,200 N95 surgical masks to all 142 hospitals within Georgia.
And earlier today, we distributed thirty ventilators to two of our hardest-hit counties: Dougherty and Floyd. @GaDPH @GeorgiaEMA #gapol #COVID19

Sen. Cruz calls on Trump to address medical supply shortages by invoking Defense Production Act

"WASHINGTON — As President Donald Trump suggests the response to the coronavirus may be going too far, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is urging his administration go further.

Cruz — who has emerged as one of the most vocal members of Congress on the dangers the virus poses — wants the administration to tell private manufacturers to begin making ventilators, warning the nation could soon face a shortage."

GEORGIA....NO STATEWIDE SHELTER IN PLACE

Breaking: Kemp to ban many large gatherings, orders shelter in place for ‘medically fragile’ #gapol Breaking: Kemp bans many gatherings, orders shelter in place for ‘medically fragile’

Kemp also will order the shutdown of bars and nightclubs across the state and gave the Department of Public Health authority to close businesses or nonprofits – including churches – that don’t comply with the rules. #gapol Breaking: Kemp bans many gatherings, orders shelter in place for ‘medically fragile’

And the governor says Georgia will move Tax Day from April 15 to July 15 #gapol BREAKING: Georgia, like feds, moves Tax Day from April 15 to July 15 because of coronavirus

We now have 23 referral-only test sites across the state. #COVID19 Governor Brian P. Kemp on Twitter

All Georgia pharmacies allowed to dispense 90-day supply for people out of refills and those pharmacists who cannot get in touch with doctors. Does not include schedule II medications, @GovKemp #11alive

"Medically fragile" doesn't go nearly far enough. WHY won't these Governors do the right thing?!

I think its terribly disrespectful to 300 million people who gave us 2 months to prepare, but was squandered by the person who insist on using these words....IMO
Our focus should be saving lives, not insulting people.

At critical turning points, Chinese authorities put secrecy and order ahead of openly confronting the growing crisis and risking public alarm or political embarrassment.

Coronavirus Is Leaving Some Victims Without Sense Of Smell Or Taste - News & Guts Media

There is a bizarre symptom that often comes with coronavirus, but it’s also one that doctors say could be a key sign that someone’s carrying COVID19, even if they don’t show any other signs of the disease. At least 30% of victims are reporting a loss of their sense of smell (anosmia). Culinary Instructor Elliott Prag told News & Guts how this has impacted him. The 60-year-old Brooklyn, NY resident tells us: “The worst symptom is ANOSMIA. My nasal passages are clear but I can’t smell or taste ANYTHING (dysgeusia).” Prag says the chills have passed but he has had the complete loss of smell and taste for three days. Even incredibly spicy food tastes like absolutely nothing. Quite strange for someone who cooks for a living.

He calls the supply of PPE "dangerously low" with the FDNY having weeks of supply, not months.

NEW: FDNY Boss to NBC News: "All that we can hope for is that the pleas from the governor and the mayor have been heard in Washington and that a supply stream will open and that we will get the equipment that our members need to operate safely."

Apparently some of the small business owners are opting to stay open but for limited hours where I live.

They are also limited below 10 people at once in their store.

Good luck to these business owners, I won't give out the shop names as I frequent them and know the owners personally, but I am going to wait until this COVID-19 thing is over with.

Would rather sleep on weekends now.

That's another thing, giving the nature of this disease, all the general worry and stress everyone is experiencing, can exacerbate the chances of getting it if out in public with other people who don't know they have COVID-19.
