I have received many requests for a new Royal Family thread.

This thread will stay open as long as you all follow terms of service.

Here is an example:
If you don't like Megan Markle you can certainly express your opinion as long as you are not rude, nasty, and in general you do not act like a jerk..if you need more of an explanation as to what this means I can't tell you anything else. If you can't discuss without crossing these boundaries then please do not post.

If someone posts something you disagree with please post and express your disagreement in a respectful manner.

Stop the nasty mean arguing.

Finally, it is not a good idea to insult the mods in any way. The mods work their behinds off for us and they keep Websleuths running. We owe them our gratitude.

The reality is Websleuths IS NOT a Democracy. In the end any final decision is on me. While I try to be fair with everyone some of you may disagree. If you do disagree please do not post about it in any thread on Websleuths.

Let's see how this goes.

Buckingham Palace Will Not Open to the Public This Year Due to Coronavirus
Other royal residences will stay closed as well.


Under normal circumstances, when the Queen heads to Scotland on her summer holiday, a select few rooms of her London residence, Buckingham Palace, open to visitors for tours.

But unfortunately, as the coronavirus pandemic continues, the State Rooms will remain closed to the public this year. Similar closures are also being seen across other royal residences like Clarence and Frogmore Houses.

"The safety and wellbeing of our visitors and staff are our priority. Because of the operational challenges of social distancing, unfortunately we have had to take the decision not to open the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace to the public this summer, and Frogmore House and Clarence House will not open in August 2020. Those who have booked tickets will be refunded," reads a statement released this week from the Royal Collection Trust, the non-profit group which manages the Royal Collection and the royal residences.

"We are currently unable to confirm a date on which the other Palaces, the Royal Mews, the Galleries and shops will reopen, but will continue to monitor Government advice."

That said, the Royal Collection's website is still up and running; there, you can take virtual tours of state rooms, explore works of art, and watch behind-the-scenes videos like the one below:

Early on in the COVID-19 crisis, the Queen left London, and has been social distancing at Windsor Castle ever since. Per the Times, she will remain in Windsor indefinitely.

"The Queen won’t do anything which goes against the advice of people in her [age] category and she’s going to take all the appropriate advice," a source told the Times earlier this month.

"There are discussions about what we could and couldn’t do come October. We haven’t cancelled a load of engagements, but nothing is going into Her Majesty’s diary at the moment. If there is advice in the coming months that it’s fine for her to come back to London, she may do that, but until that time, she’d want to be seen to be being responsible in her actions for the nation."

But the British monarch remains working, even in relative isolation. "The Queen continues to be busy and will follow appropriate advice on engagements," a source told Town & Country.

Princess Eleonore of Belgium one of first royals to return to school as lockdown measures are lifted

As lockdown measures begin to ease across Europe, some of the younger royals have been heading back to their classrooms. The Belgian royal palace shared photos and video of Princess Eleonore, 12, as she returned to her lessons at St John Berchmans College, a public school in Brussels on Friday.


King Philippe, 60, wore a face mask as he dropped his youngest daughter off at the school entrance and waited as she joined her classmates. In the caption on its Instagram account, the Belgian royal palace wrote: "Thank you to school administrators, teachers and educators for the preparations and adaptations aimed at allowing a partial and gradual return of students."

Princess Eleonore and her mother, Queen Mathilde, visited Kamiano, a restaurant for the homeless in Brussels on Thursday, where they helped to hand out food bags. In March, the royal mum, along with Princess Eleonore and Prince Emmanuel, 14, delivered flowers and homemade cakes to a nursing home in Brussels.

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde are also parents to Princess Elisabeth, 18, and Prince Gabriel, 16. Their eldest daughter, Elisabeth, who has been studying at UWC Atlantic College in Wales, returned to Belgium in March before lockdown measures were put in place.

The king and queen have been carrying out some of their royal duties remotely from the Castle of Laeken, their official residence in Brussels. Philippe married Mathilde in December 1999 and became monarch in 2013, following his father Albert II's abdication.

It was the first time the 94-year-old monarch has missed the show since its launch in 1943. The Queen, who learned how to ride at the age of three, has seen her own horses compete in the show. She has often been pictured with her trusty camera around her neck and has been in the stands to support her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh and her grandchildren, compete in carriage driving competitions.

I'm intrigued by Her Majesty, The Queen regularly taking photos. I wonder what she does with all of them. She's certainly keen on the show.

The Queen has finally received some good news whilst self-isolating with Prince Philip at Windsor Castle. After Buckingham Palace have been confirming that most of Her Majesty's favourite royal engagements have been cancelled, it seems one particular event is still going ahead - The Cartier Queen's Cup — the Champions League of the polo world.

The news was confirmed by Richard Eden for the Daily Mail, who revealed that the tournament, which is played at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor Great Park in June, has been rescheduled for the end of July.

Despite its reschedule, the monarch is not expected to attend. Last week, the Sunday Times reported that the 94-year-old is set to withdraw from her public duties for an extended period of time amid the coronavirus outbreak. The publication stated on Sunday that it's expected to be "the longest absence from official duties in her 68-year reign." Her Majesty is set to stay at Windsor Castle for the foreseeable future, and the newspaper also states that her diary of engagements is "on hold" for as far as the autumn.

The health crisis has seen a number of the Queen's favourite events cancelled this summer - from Trooping the Colour in June to the Order of the Garter service and her annual garden parties. Buckingham Palace will also remain closed to the public this summer - and while Her Majesty usually travels to Balmoral for her annual break in July, she is expected to instead remain at Windsor Castle.

I am terribly sorry to hear that Her Majesty, The Queen will not be staying in Balmoral for the summer. I have always read this is a favourite place for her and gives her much needed relaxation and rest with her family.

I suppose this means she will not visit with her children and grandchildren, either. That's very sad.
