I'm confused on where her car was seen. I thought it was Indian Cove campground. Now I am reading Jumbo Rocks campground. Indian Cove is accessed from an outside road that goes to the campground. It's between the Joshua Tree entrance and the Twentynine Palms entrance. To access the Jumbo Rocks campground you would enter the park and drive quite a distance to reach the campground. There is no road that connects the two and they are very different parts of the park. I have camped at Indian Cove but not at Jumbo Rocks. That campground fills up quickly because it's in the heart of the park.

FWIW in the video up thread @ the 1:53 minute mark the reporter is at the location & @ 2:07 they show the search map of Jumbo Rocks

I remember Erin's case well as I followed it feverishly. Tragic and sad at many different levels. I found the Perp's wife extremely objectionable, given her comments when Erin was missing. I hope that Erin's husband was able to recover to whatever degree one can from something so horrific, and has found peace and some happiness for himself. So sad.

Yes, as I posted upthread, JTNP has had some odd tragedies, and unfortunately it appears we have yet another in the making.

It is not that uncommon for cars to get broken into at trailheads in parks, and I would assume the same of cars left unattended in campgrounds. Perhaps she did go there to camp, left the campsite on foot to go hiking or exploring and someone ransacked her vehicle. She comes back, sees it damaged, and maybe tries driving into civilization to get it fixed/figure out a way to get home, but breaks down on the way (I wonder if even in this state, the car was driveable?) Someone picks her up off the side of the road and it goes from there. This is all MOO. It is just really odd to me the car was moved. Someone obviously moved it between Monday and Tuesday. I wonder if anyone else was camping nearby? Have they been able to be tracked down and interviewed?

I wonder if there is record of reservations in Erika Lloyd's name at the JTNP/Indian Cove campground...

or any record of her credit card being used at the entrance and/or the campground?

Just some things I am wondering about...

BBM, because I think this is an interesting point. I live near Walnut Creek as she does and nobody I know has ever gone to JTNP on a whim for a quick camping trip. Aside from the heat advisory, the very long trip and the lack of camping experience, it is also odd that somebody very cautious and anxious re: COVID would travel down south towards the larger concentration of cases vs camping anywhere closer to home.

A long travel trip to your destination makes it very likely you'll be stopping for gas, etc along the way. Even if her final destination were remote, it seems odd to increase your chances of having to mingle when your goal is to avoid interaction.

perhaps she was thinking of going for some entertainment at the casino?

It has been a few years so things could have changed, but there are no reservations. Camping spots are first come first served. It's also honor pay system. Things could have changed, but that's how it was the last time I camped there. Sometimes different campgrounds within the same park have different rules. I am still not sure which campground her car was seen at. There is mention of Indian Cove and mention of Jumbo Rocks. They are in two different parts of the park and there is no road that directly connects them.
