GUILTY Sweden - Mikael Petersson, 57, suspected kidnapping, Karlskrona, 25 July 2020 *arrests*

GW: ”Mordet på Mikael kan bli ett nytt Lelle-fall”
Published 25 Sep 2020 at 19.02

Police spokesman Robert Loeffel recently told Kvällsposten that this is the largest murder investigation in the history of Karlskrona police.

Snip

Police professor Leif GW Persson has followed the case and now assesses in an interview with P4 Blekinge that there is a great risk that the body will never be found. And the police professor adds that even if the body is found, the risk is great that it is in such poor condition that it will still be difficult to determine a cause of death.

- The prosecutor has ended up in a very tricky seat, he says to P4 Blekinge. According to GW, in order for the prosecutor to be able to pursue the case against the young men, it is not only necessary to be able to prove that 57-year-old Mikael is dead. There must probably also be traces on the body that indicate that violence was inflicted on Mikael. Then it should also be possible for the young men to be tied to the current event. Leif GW Persson is of the opinion that the murder will never be solved - and that the Blekinge police have a new Lelle Hildebrand case in front of them.

- Of course it is important for the evidence to find Mikael, says prosecutor Anna Johansson. However, she believes that it does not have to be of definite importance not to have found the body to pursue a murder case to trial. - In this case, I can still state that the evidence has been strengthened gradually. The district court has also chosen to detain the suspects as suspects for probable cause, ie the stronger degree of suspicion, says Anna Johansson.
The Lelle Hildebrand mentioned in this article is/was a 36-year-old man, the tour leader of a Swedish hardrock band, who went missing on January 25, 1999 in Sölvesborg, Blekinge, during the band's performance at a club. He went outside with a man who had been the manager for the previous event to get the payment for it (about $ 3,000), and Lelle hasn't been seen since that. First it was believed he had gone missing with the money, but the money was soon found (if I remember correctly, in a bag frozen to the ice on a lake nearby), and the manager was arrested for having killed Lelle. The manager, a 22-year-old man, have since the missing of Lelle been arrested, and sentenced to 30 years, for a triple murder in September 1999. The man was tried for having murdered Lelle, and he denies to have done that, and as Lelle's body hasn't been found, and it can't be proved what happened, the trial ended with "crime can't be proved".
The search for Lelle was intensified in 2018, when his mother and siblings posted a reward for information for finding his body, or getting someone sentenced for the murder.
Kamp mot tiden att hitta försvunne Lelle

Even if Sölvesborg is a very small town (population less than 10,000) it's known to hard rock fans, as it's home to the three or four day event Sweden Rock Festival.

The preliminary autopsy is now done, and the police have a preliminary case of death report, but it's not public yet. It will take a couple of more months until the investigation is finished, most likely not until March or April.
Obduktion klar – utredarna vet hur Mikael, 57, dog

The body was found on a small island, not far from land, and most likely there have been boaters visiting the island during the summer months, so it's a bit surprising that it wasn't found until early November. The red dot in where he was found, the blue one is close to his home.

Mikael Petersson was killed by blunt force trauma, and the 22-year-old partner of MP's son have begun talking with the police, and given explanations of what happened.

The body could have been found almost two months earlier, in September, as Missing People Sweden had been on the island searching, but they had only been able to search half the island before it got dark, and for some reason they were not asked by the police to continue searching the rest of the island later.

Yesterday I was downtown, and walked past the closed and dark cafe, the name is still written above the entrance, and as far as I could see from the other side of the street, there was nothing that showed that it had connections with a crime.

Wow, I'd never heard of that before. Just had a quick google and this guy Ricard Nilsson convicted of the triple murder and suspected murder of Lelle Hildebrand is up for parole this year

I'm glad Mikael has been found. So sad that his son is involved.

There have been some more information about the murder of MP. He was beaten and killed with a wrench, and dismembered in the apartment, then buried on the little island of Varö. The suitcases where the body parts were transported was then filled with rocks and thrown in the sea. At least one of the suitcases have been found.

The 21-year-old man suspected of the murder have admitted to a crime, but denies murder (perhaps causing the death, or dismemberment), more information later on.

The tools used in the murder were hidden in a storage area at the work place of the suspected killers, and they tried to put the boat used into storage, but the police arrested them before they were able to do so.

Money was one of the reasons for the murder, but also the 22-year-old suspected killer's belief that his relative, Mikael Petersson, was working for the Russian mafia, but there are no proof at all for that belief in the investigation by the police. The 22-year-old also claimed that he had a deadly illness, and wrote a testament in favour of his 23-year-old partner about six weeks before the killing.
