Was the LISK a cop or oyster farmer?

So weird, right? I don’t think LISK had one thing to do with Gilbert. That entire evening went sideways very quickly (from everything I’ve read). I do think Burke would do something like call an escort and invite her out with some of his buddies. From the description of this guy, calling and torturing family members sounds like something he’d do-sloppy, risky, but too arrogant to think he’d have to resign from his job down the road. No, LISK is calculating and patient. Definitely has a “type” of girl. That’s why I do believe there is another killer on that beach. One who had zero issues with killing a mother and child.

The more I think about Peaches and her daughter, the more I believe they may have been victims of circumstance. Though I believe she was killed by the same person who killed Jessica Taylor and the other dismembered victims, I'm not fully convinced that Peaches was a sex worker. Maybe her car broke down (if she had one) or perhaps she and her daughter were stranded and accepted a ride from a seemingly kind stranger who was actually a killer.

Peaches is believed to have died in the nineties when people still accepted rides from strangers and/or hitchhiked. Her death predates the internet so men soliciting prostitutes at that time did so through agencies or picking up street girls, and LISK probably did the latter because the former kept records. Maybe he approached Peaches, asked if she was working, she replied that she was stranded/had no way to get home, so LISK offered a ride.

The Bristol, CT tattooer who did Peaches' tattoo said she came to his shop in the early nineties while visiting from NY. Law Enforcement says Jessica Taylor disappeared from the Port Authority in Manhattan in 2003 but her pimp/boyfriend Khalil White said she vanished from Queens Plaza (Long Island City). Additonally, LISK referenced "a whorehouse in Queens" during a phone call to a friend of Maureen Brainard-Barnes after MBB disappeared in 2007.

With the Queens connections/references made in the early days of the case, I wonder if Peaches is from Queens and/or if she too disappeared from a bus/subway hub like Queens Plaza, Jackson Heights (or anywhere along Roosevelt Avenue), or the LIRR and subway hub at Sutphin and Archer in Jamaica Queens. The tattooer described Peaches as a light skinned blacked woman, so she could have been from one of the culturally and racially diverse neighborhoods that comprise Queens.

That could be the reason Burke didn't want the FBI involved or he was commiting other crimes & didn't want to get caught.

Some of the GB4 might have been at some of those wild parties, but it would be better to have at least one of those men at those parties come forward & mention it, but I doubt they ever will because they are family men & don't want to embarrass their families.

And I'm assuming a lot of people born before 1980 use those words to associate prostitutes & racially mixed people.

One guy that has always been on my mind but he's no longer around is JB, the aquarium owner & nursery.

Why would a multi millionaire with what seems like he has everything, commit suicide.......I've read he attended some of these wild parties, but how much can you corroborate that it's true.

Hes been checked out & cleared, & maybe this is what happens when innocent people get pulled into an investigation like this, they can't handle the stress & think they will give their family a bad name.....you can go bankrupt & lose everything going through something like this if you're guilty in the public eye.

Maybe somebody stole burlap sacks from his nursery?

It's not like you can find burlap sacks anywhere you go.

This whole case has been messed up from the beginning........I wonder if it was possible to locate LISK on video from mid Town when he was calling the little sister.

The only way this may get solved is if they have LISK's DNA, & they do the genealogy test.

Or maybe it will end up like Jack the Ripper & never get solved
Agree. I have in the back of my mind thought in some fashsion, the nursery owner was involved. Suicide dose not add-up unless he was over- distraught over his wifes Cancer? Also the girls bodies must have been secured in the burlap not to be strewn all about the area, right? any thoughts? Thank you for reading.

I don't think he's necessarily law enforcement, but I do think he has a fascination with law enforcement. I think he does have a history of seeking and perhaps holding jobs that give him the illusion of power. An example of a serial killer we know did this is Dennis Rader, who was a dogcatcher and installed alarm systems for ADT in the homes of his terrified neighbors.

My point of view exactly, Coldcaser. He could be a cop. He could also work for the Park Service. He could be a doctor with an inflated sense of self- importance and an exaggerated history to back it up. He could even be a politician, or the owner of a talent agency.

As an aside, I read a post from someone on a law enforcement site who was a seasonal park ranger. This poster stated that he wanted to wear a garrison belt to carry his gear on, but the boss told him no. He was asking LEO's if they thought it would be appropriate for him to wear it anyway. Naturally, the LEO's replied that he should do whatever the boss said he should do, but they also offered more appropriate mesh type belts, and inquired why this guy was so fixated on a garrison belt. The guy replied that he felt the garrison belt gave him an air of authority with the people he encountered, and also made him feel more confident. The LEO's picked up on this guy in an instant..." So, you're a wannabe cop basically ? That it ?". As I was reading this exchange, I thought to myself , boy...same mindset as LISK. He's not what he wants to be in his real life, not powerful, not respected, not given the due he feels he should be given, so he puts on a " garrison belt " and suddenly he's THE MAN. See where I'm going with this ?

Someone like LISK is a man who ultimately knows he is weak, pathetic, unimportant, and unimpressive. I believe he sees the GB4 and his getting away with murder thus far as his life's magnum opus. He hates women, and he has achieved being the "best" at hating women the most. He sees himself as one of the "best" serial killers because he's evaded capture, captivated the minds of many, and has inflicted so much suffering upon his victims and their families in life and death. He likely views himself as being in the pantheon of prolific serial killers like Bundy, BTK, DeAngelo, etc. He has little else to be proud of in his life.

This is part of why I believe he falls closer to the middle class socioeconomic bracket rather than upper middle to upper class. I think his anger is caused by a lack of agency over his own life, which likely includes economic agency. Another reason I suspect he is closer to middle class is that he is willing to brave the environment of Ocean Parkway and knows how to get through the brush and what to wear to avoid unnecessary injuries or getting poison ivy/poison oak. He is comfortable in the outdoors and in a harsh environment, and knows that using burlap both allows aeration to hasted decay and camouflages the bodies with the rest of the flora. So park service, as you mentioned, seems plausible to me. Whatever job he holds, it is likely one that gives him a feeling of power, not one that necessarily has any power. He could be something like a manager, which allows him to feel like he has power, but the scope of that power is small, and he ultimately knows that. Knowing that deep down breeds more anger and rage, which he then directs at those around him.

We also know that he has some knowledge of police procedures (as he was able to avoid his calls being traced) and a decent grasp of technology with a particular interest in phones and the internet. I'm willing to bet he has a close relative or friend who's LE. That seasonal park ranger has exactly the kind of mentality I think LISK has, I think you're right on the money. This guy likely doesn't actually have any power, he just wishes he did and acts like he does. My mind just keeps going to Dennis Rader being described as a "strict and overzealous" dogcatcher who enjoyed harassing women and was said to have shot a woman's dog for no reason.

Another person whose name keeps getting dragged into the Gilgo Beach investigation is former Suffolk County Police Chief James Burke. Burke was arrested in 2015, accused of beating a shackled, drug-addicted suspect who had stolen sex toys and *advertiser censored* tapes from Burke’s official police vehicle. Burke had been investigated in the 1990s by Internal Affairs for his association with prostitutes.

Years later, an escort on Long Island was put before the cameras by John Ray, the woman claiming Burke abused her in a bathroom on Oak Beach and demanded sex during a party there.

But retired Chief Varrone, who was forced out of his position by Burke in late 2011 — two days after Shannan Gilbert’s body was found — doesn’t think Burke is involved in the Gilgo women’s disappearances.

“I don’t believe so, I really don’t,” Varrone said in 2019. “Nor do I believe it was a resident of Oak Beach. This is a dumping area,” he said of Gilgo Beach.

The Ocean Parkway shoulder has been widened in recent years, and the white crosses that paid tribute to the victims removed.

Former Chief Varrone recalled in 2019 there was a battle for control — and media attention — between the late Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Doermer and former District Attorney Tom Spota. Spota was convicted at trial this year of trying to cover up former Chief Burke’s beating of a prisoner.

this talk of the tattoo artist gets thrown around a lot but where are the sources or articles that link to them outside of web forum or podcast talk?

The tattooer was featured in The Killing Season. You can find a clip of his interview on You Tube and/or watch the episodes on A&E.

What about Luka Magnotta for LISK? I know it seems tenuous at best, but NYC isn’t very far from Toronto.

My basis is Luka’s taunting Mickey Mouse shirt he wore when he fled the country in 2012 and that LISK called himself Mickey Mouse on phone calls.

I also am basing this on the fact that Luka had an obsession with the movie American Psycho set in NYC. He had quite the fascination with planting Easter eggs/clues throughout his crimes.

Also one of the victims was an Asian male in a wig and the other victims sex workers, two demographics that Luka associated himself with regarding himself and his victims. He procured his victim off of craigslist as is theorized with LISK. He traveled internationally. Also once Luka was apprehended the LISK type murders halted.

Luka claimed to be working for a man named Manny Lopez that he was forced to kill things on video for snuff films in which Manny was making tons of money. I remember rumors that possibly the LISK victims had been victims of a snuff film, but I’m not sure any of those rumors could ever be corroborated.

Just an idea.
I know I'm late but I do like this idea.
Although, I don't think it could be him because what he (Luka) did to the victim, Jun Lin, is more grusome -in my opinion- than LISK.
Now that I think about it though, the way the bodys were cut up, like the torso, the head, and the arms, it does resemble Luka's killings.

I think this idea should get a lot more attention haha.

I’ve never heard of this people before (Luka Magnotta, and allegations implicating Manny Lopez). Will have to check it out...interesting theory that I’ve never heard before in relation to LISK.

The fact that Maureens cell pinged off a tower on fire island and this could be a coverup is crazy because no one ever mentions the chief of police of ocean beach (on fire island, next to gilgo) who has been caught w sex workers in the past and has had other police crimes covered up by the same people that cover for james Bourke

I haven't read about that, Jimmytoast, but I am not surprised. I think back to one of my POIs attending an all-night party in Fire Island, where other LE were supposedly there, wonder if it has a connection to who you mentioned. Interesting!

If you google him so much dirty stuff comes up. Brutal violence etc I wouldn’t be surprised. Also the location is too coincidental

Here’s a thought: Perhaps LISK is in LE but not a PO. Maybe he is a civilian who works in IT inside of LE.

Burlap is used to transport and carry Oysters. Also that area around Long island has vast amounts of Oyster farms. In addition Oyster harvest is during the months that have R in them. Most of the women went missing during the off season of Oysters. May, June, July, August. He would have more time during these months. Its just a thought!

Burlap is apparently still used to package and ship bulk food commodities like nuts, potatoes, and yes, shellfish, but also particularly, COFFEE. Interestingly enough, one of the last, specialty manufacturers of burlap sacks is apparently the NYP Corp. in Elizabeth,New Jersey :

Burlap Bags | Wholesale | Agricultural Packaging | NYP Corp

That said, it would make sense to check the bags/sacks used by the LISK for trace residue of bulk, commercial food products that might still be on the fiber. As well, it would make sense to check for NYC area food distributors/retailers using such burlap material.

Burlap can be packed with ice and used to keep fish/seafood cold, especially if you're unloading it directly to markets, marina's. restaurants etc. It seems a faster method for delivery than a cooler, which would need to be cleaned out and given back immediately or you'd loose a lot of coolers which costs more and burlap bags are cheaper, stackable and can be cleaned and returned later if need. There are numerous fishing-charter companies, marina's, fishing stations all near and around Gilgo Beach, most of them use burlap sacs. I was certain it was a seasonal worker in the fishing industry, maybe on fishing boats, maybe a first mate etc?, working only a couple years. from approx. May to September, living further out/away from Gilgo Beach, then eventually moving away for good.

What brought him to that area specifically? He obviously knew how isolated the area was, how easy it was to see a vehicle approaching and how perfect thorn-bushes and massive amounts of poison ivy were for dumping bodies, how that didn't change much in winter months. The overgrowth along the causeway has been a dumping ground for mob for many years. Was it blind luck he got away with killing so many victims, could he have started cutting them up and then moved to just strangling victims, highly unlikely, you stay with what you enjoy and much less to clean up. Is it possible he was close in age to his victims? slightly older, but not much? Maybe he attended College up North, this would explain the time he was killing victims, semester ends in May/June, starts in late August/September. Was a relative living near the area, maybe a divorced parent to visit for the summer? or just seasonal work?

Then the belt that has his initials on the inside, why? So it could be identified and not taken/mistaken by say a sibling, was it a gift, did he make it himself? Where can you get a custom belt made for you? How many people do you know that own a custom belt with their initials on it? Rancher's, Farmer's, Fisherman? Someone with a lot of brother's who take your belt cause they can't find yours? Then you leave this belt on one of the victims, or near, maybe the belt was used on the first victim, because he had trouble killing his victim? or the last victim, because he was never coming back to area again?

Then using the victims cell phone to call the victims sister why call only 1 victim's sister? Why not other's? seems risky to make that phone call, but you did it more than a couple times, that's crazy, you clearly didn't think it was a risk. How can someone like this just stop? One day just move on get a new job, new wife, children, new life? take a break, for how long...?
