Crafts To Do During Covid Restrictions

February teen/adult craft is a banner and a door hanger. (Putting the door hanger in the window was a mistake. I put it back on the door later.)

My oldest was looking at cross-body water jug holders that were $30! She wants it for hiking. Needless to say, Mom’s prototypes are free. This one is a bit tall. On to prototype #2, maybe an adjustable strap and taller pocket.

I just discovered this thread, and your great ideas! I've taken to making these cute little guys - if anyone is interested in a rundown, I'll be happy to help - they are cheap and super easy, and their little gnome "hats" can be changed out for each holiday!

Edited to add: it keeps giving me an error message when I try to upload the photo - I'll try again when I can get to my laptop.

Wow that jug holder is amazing!
Re pictures, there is a limit so look at the bottom before you hit upload. It does not look like a button but if you hit/click on the size you should get options. Pick a smaller one and it should go. I hope that helps.

My nurse at the cancer center has a sister with breast cancer. She loves my med bag with the clear window. So, I made one tonight out of old denim jeans and some ladybug fabric. I’m thinking I’ll make her a matching ladybug mask.

I was on my local library site this morning looking for genealogy classes. Didn’t find any but I noticed they had the craft grab bags. I was poking around to see if I could see what was in them but no luck. One was for kids and it looked like the other was for adults.

Going to start some memory bears with my grandparents' clothing for my siblings, mom and me. I once made a pretty awesome stuffed cat, but the bear is different, as it is jointed. So...not completely confident here, but started cutting tonight.

Also, I envision my bears on my mantel, but the small bear pattern is a 15 inch bear. So I took the pattern to work today and shrunk it to 65%. I'm working on a sample bear now before I commit to cutting clothes. I am using Granny's scrap fabric for it, though.

I’d love to see pictures of your progress. That’s so cool to use the family clothing. What a gift!

I saw a Facebook ad from a quilt shop and it had jointed bears. I’m curious about the joints and how they move. I will have to go find a video to learn.

Steroid Thursday here so no nap and still awake. I’ve been sewing bags today.

One is wine themed and rather small, maybe 10” wide by 13” tall. I just thought it would be a cute one to have on hand.

The other is sunflowers and bigger, maybe 14” wide by 12” tall. This is for my friend Dawn in Utah who loves sunflowers. She is in her mid 30s, is 29 weeks pregnant and they had to start chemo last week. They plan to take the baby at 32 weeks in order to save them both. It is a very sad situation. The cancer was unexpected. The baby was unexpected. She has so much infusion equipment and meds to tote around, that I made her bag a little bigger.

Mine calls for buttons for the joints. This is the part I don't think I did for the stuffed cat a decade ago. I'm a little intimidated.

Praying for you and your friend Dawn...
I am seeing an oncologist now, right now I am just hoping I don’t get bone marrow testing. Ouch. I avoided all chemo and radiation with my breast cancer with radical surgery. New *advertiser censored* were such a better option! :)

Thank you for praying for us. We will pray for you too. Cancer sucks. If you need a biopsy ask to be knocked out. I had my first one in the doctors office and it was entirely too painful. They put me under for all the ones after that!

Today was quick quilt day. I decided Dawn’s 3 year old needed a lap quilt in addition to a doll quilt. Dug thru my stash and found something pretty because that is what Isabelle likes. All things “pretty!” I sandwiched 2 coordinating fabrics with batting. Then did a 6” diamond grid machine quilting on both. I had just enough pink ruffle to go around the lap quilt. The doll quilt got a left over piece of satin.

I want to make her a little bag like her Moms but in “pretty” fabric. Maybe something other than ballerinas. I am out of clear vinyl so I will have to escape to the fabric store in the morning. Hopefully before all the germy people wake up. LOL!
