KEEP THE FOCUS ON THE SEARCH FOR ORRIN AND ORSON WEST — NOT ATTACKING INNOCENT FAMILY MEMBERS
Orrin and Orson West are still missing and there have been no promising leads that we know of. As we, the extended adoptive family, face uncertainty of their whereabouts — we are both grieving and deeply dedicated to the search for the boys. A search that has been made complicated by certain individuals and entities creating distractions all with the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic. This most recent statement is not written for or by the adoptive parents but we as the extended adoptive family have been terrorized as if that is the best way to help find the boys.

Click here to watch this news report on Good Morning America about the search for our boys and the impact it is having on us all!

THE THREATS AND HARASSMENT ARE A TRUE DISTRACTION

What has continued is the alarming number of threats of physical violence (including death threats), intentional harassment and misinformation being perpetuated by groups like AV Watchmen United We Stand and other individuals (Many we have named directly with Law Enforcement to monitor). Many of these groups have made this not about finding the boys. This behavior being targeted towards the adoptive Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins of the missing boys is misguided at best because none of us are persons of interest or suspects in terms of the disappearance.

As a family we have had to be even more cautious to not engage directly with individuals who have trespassed on various family members’ properties, hurled insults, reported false information deliberately, damage property and created a hate-filled hostile environment. For example, we have seen individuals organizing in a local graveyard, stalking both grandmothers as they travelled to their medical appointments and even attacked one of the grandfathers — a disabled veteran — while he attempted a walk to the store. Most resent the grandparents tried to reason with an angry group of searchers outside their home to no avail.

KEEP THE FOCUS ON THE OFFICIAL SEARCH

As we start to file restraining orders against individuals, continue to monitor and refute the fraudulent claims and log the numerous individuals who have made physical threats ...

WE WILL CONTINUE TO SEARCH AND PRAY

It should be made clear that despite the obstacles of a few bad actors we are still cooperating fully with law enforcement, working with a private investigator (private means they are not known to the public) and still have our reward of $30,000.00 alongside the others now totaling $100,000 for any information that will bring Orrin and Orson home. For those who wish us harm we will continue to pray that you pivot your energy and make it all about the search for Orrin and Orson. ...

Police, extended family of adoptive parents of missing boys ask for threats to end | KBAK (bakersfieldnow.com)
Eyewitness News spoke to neighbors who live next to the parents of Trazelle West (the adoptive father of four year-old Orrin and three year-old Orson) in Bakersfield, who say there was a peaceful march on Saturday where the parents of Trazelle live.

Neighbors say there's been other times though when they've heard people shouting threats to the West family.

[...]

Bakersfield Police says a lot of the misinformation is coming from social media pages and quickly spreads.

[...]

"In the last month or so we've received calls regarding criminal threats, we've received calls for checks for welfare, we've received calls for trespassing and also for verbal peace disturbances in the area," Brackett said.

She says the harassment includes people outside the house chanting "Where are the boys?" and people from around the country calling the home and making death threats.

She says it's good people are passionate about finding the boys, but not good they threatening family members and diverting the attention of police from the boys.

"However when they're putting those efforts into threats or harassment or trying to intimidate some of these families or even witnesses involved in these cases, it really takes away law enforcement's time to be able focus on our missing boys," Brackett said.

Monday marked seven weeks since 3-year-old Orson West and 4-year-old Orrin vanished from their home, and there is still no break in this case. The boys were reported missing back on Dec. 21.

[...]

“We want answers! Where are the boys?!” attendees chanted at the event.

The boys’ family say someone has to know something and they’re praying that person does the right thing.

“We just want answers,” said family member Keisha Stevenson. “It doesn’t hurt for someone to go anonymously with an answer, a lead. People (are) calling in but they’re not leading us in the right way — people telling this story and that story, but where’s the truth? We want the truth. We just want to bring the boys home.”

Siblings of Orrin and Orson West in foster care; judge to determine adoptive parents’ custody | KGET 17
[...]

“In child protective services, protective custody means they’re place in a foster home,” said Jana Slagle, a spokesperson from the Department of Human Services in Kern County. “They’re removed from their family with the allegation of abuse or neglect, and placed in a foster home.”

Her department deals with cases of parental neglect which ultimately end up in juvenile court.

“Every time a child is removed by either law enforcement or CPS,” Slagle said. “We’re involved in the court process for those children”

She says there is a process through which parents are evaluated. She spoke generally about the process and emphasized she was not talking specifically about the California City case. Frequently, the parents must complete certain tasks, aimed at ensuring the children’s safety, to regain custody.

Biological family of Orrin and Orson West plans to put up two billboards of the boys, three total | KGET 17
[...]

The biological family started a Go Fund Me to raise money for three billboards. One is already up on the south side of Highway 99.

“Not everybody’s on social media and not everybody watches the news, so maybe someone that’s traveling can see it and you might get a tip,” said RW, a cousin of the boys. “You never know who might know something.”

RW says they’ve received donations from all over the world.

[...]

Within a week they raised enough money for two billboards. But they need more than $1,000 to put up a third one.

“Right now we’re able to get two billboards, this one is the digital one, and we have one coming up next week,” Wills said. “It’s going to be on Mount Vernon going East.”

[...]

They’re hoping to put a third billboard near Tehachapi, on the way to California City.

"They do not just roam around these patches ... I think definitely would have been picked up or something," Jacqueline West said on Dec. 23.

According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children "non-family abductions" make up for less than 1 percent of the nearly 30,000 missing children cases they assisted law enforcement with in 2020.

"A stereotypical stranger abduction is very very rare," Klaas told 23ABC News Monday.

The California City Police Department confirmed Monday, there is still no physical evidence of a crime.

Klaas said he sympathizes with the Kern County community as it took 65 days for authorities to find a major break in his daughter's case.

JW, Trezell West's oldest brother issued a statement Monday that read in part:

"we are devastated at the disappearance of the boys, pray and believe they will be found safe and returned home. There is someone out there who knows the truth and the official search must continue to find the boys and reveal what occurred. We are advocating that the search remains a priority for the agencies involved. We are also grateful to the thousands of people who have leaned in appropriately to help."
