For members of the West Michigan Cancer Center family, news of the tragic deaths of Gary and Laura Johnson of Portage is devastating. Laura was a beloved, longtime employee of our center, retiring last summer after 17 years of dedicated service as a certified tumor registrar. Her work behind the scenes on local cancer cases was incredibly important and valued. Laura was a terrific colleague--she was immensely compassionate, generous and kind. We are all absolutely heartbroken and in shock over the loss of this wonderful couple. To paraphrase words once spoken by Gandhi, “There are no goodbyes. Wherever you’ll be, you’ll be in our hearts.” May they rest together in eternal peace.
