A doctor has been charged with first-degree murder as police investigate multiple suspicious deaths at a hospital located between Ottawa and Montreal, CBC News has learned.

Ontario Provincial Police were called to the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital on Thursday evening, police said in a news release.

At a court appearance on Friday, Brian Nadler, 35, who lives in Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, Que., was charged with one count of first-degree murder.

The hospital responded to an email from CBC saying it's declining comment. It's also dealing with two active COVID-19 outbreaks.

I wonder how many crimes he committed in SK without getting caught. This is going to be a huge investigation IMO. Can't find him on LinkedIn or FB.

"Our members were called in from the Hawkesbury OPP detachment to investigate a suspicious death at the hospital," said OPP spokesperson Bill Dickson to the Ottawa Citizen.

Police said the string of events occurred "recently," and that all deaths occurred in-hospital.

"Once officers commenced the investigation into the suspicious death they were called to, evidence and information led them to expand that to look at more than one death," Dickson continued.

Having worked at a hospital that had one medical serial killer who was caught and another who wasn't, this is terrifying.

The one who wasn't caught was a heart surgeon who would make patients crash so he could resuscitate them, most of the time. He got the heave-ho when word got out about this in the community, and people refused to come to our hospital for cardiac care.

Doctor charged with murder as police investigate suspicious deaths at Hawkesbury, Ont. hospital
''A doctor in eastern Ontario was charged with one count of first-degree murder Friday in connection with multiple suspicious deaths at the hospital where he worked.

Dr. Brian Nadler, 35, a specialist in internal medicine who worked at the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital, remains in custody after appearing in court on Friday, provincial police said.

Police have not said how many deaths they're investigating at the hospital located between Ottawa and Montreal, nor have they provided any information about his alleged victim.

Nadler's lawyer, Alan Brass, declined to discuss the allegations against his client.

“The only comment I'm prepared to make is that Dr. Nadler maintains his innocence, and the charges against him will be rigorously defended,” Brass said.

Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for the hospital said it has stripped Nadler of his ability to practice medicine there.

“Dr. Brian Nadler, an HGH physician, has been charged with first-degree murder and remains in custody,” a hospital press release reads. “All of his HGH privileges have been revoked.”

''Alan Brass, Nadler's Ottawa-based lawyer, says his client maintains his innocence.

Details are still emerging about the 35-year-old, who lives in Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, Que., but here is what CBC News has learned so far.''

'Documents show one charge was for allegedly calling a female colleague a "" after an argument and telling someone else he "felt like slapping" that colleague. Another charge involved patient record-keeping''.

''Nadler left to become a geriatric fellow at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine in September 2018.''

''His next court appearance is scheduled for April 6''.

He has been charged with first degree murder. They are investigating other suspicious deaths.

Someone up thread showed a medical site giving him 5 stars, the site I saw was giving him only 2 1/2 stars.

OPP meeting with families affected after Hawkesbury doctor charged with murder

Nadler has been licensed in Ontario since Feb. 4, 2020. He graduated from Montreal's McGill University in 2010, then went to the University of Alberta for surgery and internal medicine until 2014, according to an online database listing his post-graduate training.

He was a resident at the University of Saskatchewan's medical school from July 2014 to September 2018, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan told CBC in an email.

During that time, he faced two unprofessional conduct charges, the college said.

Documents show one charge was for allegedly calling a female colleague a "" after an argument and telling someone else he "felt like slapping" that colleague. Another charge involved patient record-keeping.

I did see this connection to Nevada yesterday but wasn't positive it was him so didn't link. Apparently CBC news is certain it's him.
