Canada - Doctor charged with murder after multiple deaths at Hawkesbury, Ont. hospital, 26 Mar 2021

The fact that the victim just died last week and the charges and arrest already made - there must be some pretty compelling evidence- eye witness, video etc.

I think you may be right, especially *if* (speculation on my part) the patient was on monitors or life support of any kind.

Based on his previous behaviour, I’m wondering if he purposefully changed the patient’s record again. (Eg. added or removed medications on the chart and the discovery was made if the patient was autopsied.) *speculation

Seems hospital caught it before an autopsy could have been done, MOo

There is SOOOOOO much that never gets to the public regarding physician problems.

I have a relative who worked for a medical specialist. This fellow was sued for malpractice, but he left the country while the case was in the early stages, before it went to court. He worked in the U.S then suddenly made another move to the Middle East. He ended up in the news when he died suddenly, not for all of the other things.

Falsifying medical records, on any level, is grounds for discipline, if not outright license revocation.

I know. He was previously disciplined for adding a note to a record but omitting the time and date. I was wondering if he had repeated similar behaviour with a more serious omission/deletion and that is what raised red flags and led to the murder charges. (But there being a witness or video is likely.)

There was a case in Canada involving a nurse/serial murderer who euthanized elderly patients with insulin.

Elizabeth Wettlaufer - Wikipedia

She was fired for making errors, but got a letter of reference and went on to kill again. Reporting procedures were not followed.

Hawkesbury homicide investigation focuses on deaths of five COVID-19 patients | Ottawa Citizen

Interesting article.

Just going to go out on a limb here and surmise that older covid patients were murdered to make room for younger patients.

His tweet to Ryan Reynolds, (which is weird in itself) gives me a sense that this guy was losing it.

I had a feeling that this might have been what was happening.

ALL MOO, JMHO and so on and so on.

Yes, Covid patients. A whistleblower brought this down. Was the whistleblower a nurse?

Egan: Medicine, murder charge and the appalling possibilities | Ottawa Citizen
''The news release announcing the murder charge came the next afternoon, not 24 hours later.
Shocking, really, the severity, the swiftness''.

''And the more so because the allegation is first-degree, meaning some planning and deliberation is suspected. What an appalling idea: a doctor being charged with deliberately killing an 89-year-old inside a hospital, the very place the ailing man and his loved ones relied on for his care and wellbeing.''

''It hasn’t been made clear whether Albert Poidinger was a patient of Dr. Nadler’s, nor explained why a Montreal-area man was being treated in an Ontario border-town hospital.''

''Secondly, was there anything in Dr. Nadler’s career or character that should have served as some kind of caution? And, lastly perhaps, what now in terms of prevention or physician oversight in the future? Or is such a thing even possible?

It is difficult to digest the news of the Hawkesbury investigations without casting the mind to the case of Elizabeth Wettlaufer, described as Canada’s “first known health-care serial killer.”

From your link: “This newspaper has learned that the deaths under investigation were COVID-19 patients who died during a recent outbreak at the hospital and that medications given to the patients are part of the investigation.”

Morphine comes to mind, just guessing. Something that might repress the respiratory system if it turns out the patient was admitted with difficulty breathing.*speculation as it’s a COVID ward.
