Mexico - Arlington TX Firefighter Elijah Snow, wed anniversary found dead at Cancun resort, Jul 2021

am I the only one who questions the different colors of the shirt? blue coming out with outstretched arms and red on the inside under the shower fixtures? and then the blood red appearance on the back of thigh on last picture?

I think what appears to be red is his skin, and that his shirt is hiked up to near the window level.

The photos make it all make sense. The bruise on his inner thigh is from throwing his leg over the windowsill and pulling himself up. He tried to slide in feet first and got stuck. No way to push himself back up, he hung there and it cut off his ability to breathe. A tragic mistake, complicated by intoxication and impaired judgment. My heart goes out to his family

I wonder if he was trying to get out, or trying to get in
The article said trying to get in. But no way I believe he was trying to enter feet first face down like it shows in the photos. My Hinky meter is way high at this point.
Even if he was trying to exit , the window opening wasn’t so small it was compressing his chest to the point he couldn’t breathe. He could have backed out and stayed in the bathroom. Maybe he passed out at that point? Still wouldn’t have caused death unless he’d been drugged or had some seriously contaminated liquor.

IMO, it’s quite possible he was put there after being beaten to the point he couldn’t get out. MOO

Feet first face down? Was he an Olympic gymnast?
The window is only about 2 feet off the ground-i think he hooked his leg over the windowsill, then tried to slide in feet first. Unfortunately the floor of the shower stall was lower- he slid in until his chest got stuck, then he was unable to push himself back up

Agree. Very odd indeed but that’s why it’s making news. A tragic accident is what it looks like to me.

Why? Why would he try to attempt that most awkward movement ever? I can’t even imagine trying to do something so strange. Especially if he was as inebriated as has been claimed. And his chest didn’t appear stuck to me at all. There was open area above him in the window opening. None of this makes sense, IMO. I. Don’t. Buy it.

I might sound stupid, but if I was in a position that I had to go in a window to a lower area I would have chosen go in feet first. I wouldn't want to land on my head. Feet first to the ground below makes more sense to me. I would avoid it it at all cost because I'm not a climber, but maybe that why feet first would be what I defaulted to.

IMO Going in face down and feet first is the natural way to slide down from a window to the floor. Certainly wouldn't do it head first. I don't think that it was lack of space to get through the window, but that he was drunk and basically got hung up either in the chest area or under ribs. Being drunk prevented him from from lifting himself off the window ledge and he suffocated under his own weight.

Will have to agree to disagree. I might could see it if he faced up, but not down like is shown. What did he do, stand on his hands to get his feet up and through the window? While drunk? And If he made it that far through then he should have just slipped on down to the floor, not stopped in that position. IMOO

In the end the whole think makes no sense to me. But I will move on and leave you with your opinions, and me with my own.

Really drunk people do really strange things that a sober person couldn't even imagine, let alone actually attempt. Especially since he was a fire fighter, I'm sure he thought he could do it, no problem.

You’re saying he stood with his back to the window , did a hand stand, and then .... what and how? I’m trying to visualize how it could be done unless your some sort of contortionist. Maybe I’m missing something, lol.

I picture him crouching down to window and putting one leg through window. So now he’s straddling the window like a horse kinda. Then put other leg through while holding window ledge with both hands and weight on his stomach. Planning to slide down but got stuck.

I’ve done this maneuver but not as far of a drop as he had on the inside

This is how I think he did it too. Another option is he sat down and slid through the window face up but he got stuck so he managed to turn onto his belly thinking he could boost himself up with his feet. Either option would probably leave him stuck and thrashing around trying to get loose.

From the outside, the window was ground level (from the Mexican papers pics). He wouldn’t have needed to do a handstand or whatever. Just sit down and slide legs in or just lay flat on the ground and wiggle himself backwards. From the inside, the window was high, almost like he was in a basement.
I really think being drunk made him make poor choices. 1–to make the attempt at the window thing for whatever reason and 2-maybe he could’ve rationally thought about a way to un-jam himself from the window.
I still think it was a stupid senseless tragedy, not anything like a beating or murder.

I continue to question that this man’s death was merely accidental. His family knows him better than anyone, and we know him not at all. I really think it’s unfair to him and to the family, to so casually accept that it was nothing but a drunken misadventure accident, when his body shows signs of being physically beaten.
Not to mention, there are travel warnings for Mexico including Cancun, obviously for a reason. And, aren’t his family members considered victims as well ?

Considering the physical evidence shown, I personally believe that jumping to the conclusion he was so drunk he did this to himself is really disrespectful, not only to the deceased victim, but to the family as well. JMO

Moving on, I Don’t recall seeing this article posted here before.
Death of Texas Man at Cancun Resort Ruled an Accident But Family Says Post-Mortem Photos Raise More Questions

SBM from article:
But post-mortem photos shared by the family with Inside Edition showed Elijah suffered multiple large bruises and cuts to his back, legs and head.

His body does have signs of violence,” pathologist and author Dr. Judy Melinek, who examined the photos, told Inside Edition.

“If the chest and abdominal compression from the window doesn't match up with the bruises on the legs or the injury on the head, then we need another explanation for those injuries,” Melinek said.

It’s a short walk from the resort where the couple was staying and the hotel where Elijah’s body was discovered. From the beach, the only way to continue is through a fenced off narrow passageway. To get through, he would have had to scale rocks and then climb down to the window, or walk through the Sunset Royal's front entrance, Inside Edition Chief Investigative Correspondent Lisa Guerrero found.

“This is not an area a tourist would just wander about and go to,” Oujesky, Elijah’s stepfather, said.

The video shows how difficult it would have been for ES to make his way to that window, including following an obscure path from the beach area, and climbing over some very large rocks. Either that or walking through the hotel itself. Yet no one shares the surveillance videos? Why? And this reporter was “escorted out” by security... more apt is she was ran off the property.... the security obviously claiming they don’t speak any English. I call foul.

That does sound easy. But did you also maneuver yourself through unknown territory , into an unknown area, to an obscure hidden pathway, and over a mountainous pile of boulders, and then to an unmarked window to a building ..... to even get to that point?

Both the video and article say you could take the over the Boulder way or a different way (I think they mentioned the lobby.) I don’t know what he did to get to the window. The journalist did it with being caught which I found interesting. IMO he was drunk, wandering around & at some point tried to get back to the hotel which turned out to not be his. I just posted what I think happened, based on what I’ve read. Just my own theory. No one really knows.
The surveillance tape would be interesting to see. I do hope the family gets the surveillance tape although I think they would still have questions. I don’t think they’ll ever know and I hope they find peace at some point. I don’t understand why they cremated the body if they didn’t believe what the Mexican authorities say or the cause of death. Toxicology would’ve been helpful here.
