Nah, I don't agree that this is a slippery slope. A receipt of vaccination shows the date, place vaccinator, vaccine name and batch number. It doesn't give your private health information, but rather it gives verifiable information about the vaccine and the vaccination event.

There is way more personal health information collected about you by your credit card points.

Our governments probably know much more about us than we can imagine. All it would take is a couple of good computer analysts to devise a program or two gather information from the internet. I have no problem with my government knowing my vaccination status, etc. if it means helping to curb the pandemic for me and others.

Yep. My neighbor's two children, aged 6 and 8 years old got it 1 week after attending school. Masks required at school here in Southern California.
Thankfully, their illness was mild.

We just received notice that our hospital is officially on diversion. Our ICU and medical beds are completely full.

Anyone who thinks kids, even toddlers, don’t get sick with COVID needs to come to work with me for a day.

But your blood. pressure is not a public health threat. I think our laws and systems are sophisticated (just barely) enough to deal with the difference.

In order to be a teacher in California, you have to show proof of several vaccines (before COVID) as well as a negative TB test (for good reason - most TB is spread by asymptomatic people).

I guess that right now, we have to "show proof" of vaccination as opposed to having the government share the data - but in the end, it's exactly the same thing.

"We never want to suspend a school board. That's not the relationship that we want to have,” said Sec. Ryan Stewart, New Mexico Public Education Department. "It's incumbent upon us to lead here and step in and say, 'We have to create safe environments for our kids.'"

The Floyd board voted July 26 at a special meeting to make masks and social distancing optional. They were given until Aug. 3 to rework their policy.
Leon Nall, the board president, said they wouldn't rework the policy.

Retired Tampa juvenile detention officer defies the odds in fight against COVID-19 | WFLA

A retired juvenile detention officer from Tampa is making progress in his fight against COVID-19 despite pre-existing conditions and being hospitalized since the end of July.

Garvin said she believes her 54-year-old husband Phillip Garvin is defying the odds.

“Oh yeah, every day (the doctors are) baffled with him,” she said. “They counted him out several times only because of what the imaging and the tests were saying but God has the last word.”

Retired juvenile detention officer Garvin is diabetic and he had a prior heart procedure before contracting the virus.

Mrs. Garvin said she will keep visiting her husband at TGH until he can come home. “Every day I go in there,” she said, “I know it’s just another miracle.”

“He had all these preexisting conditions and from what the TV and information says he wasn’t supposed to make it,” Mrs. Garvin said.

In the nearly 40 days since arriving at TGH, Mrs. Garvin said doctors have treated her husband with Remdesivir, steroids and experimental medications.

He has also required high flow oxygen, but the family refused to let him got on a ventilator.

Mrs. Garvin said her husband had not been vaccinated. She said he had been consulting his doctor about which one vaccine would be best for him because of his preexisting conditions.

Both she and her daughter also became sick with COVID-19 this summer. Since their recoveries, they are getting vaccinated.

The 1918 pandemic killed an estimated 50,000,000 people ... when the population of the world was 1.8 billion people.

So far, this pandemic has taken the lives of 4,600,000 people. And the population of the world is 7.9 billion people.

Even with modern medicines to assist us, that is one heck of a difference in world deaths vs population.

Well, the results of the latest investigation were "inconclusive," and opinions are split on both sides.

Peter Daszak of EcoHealth has done back flips to distract attention from the idea his group funded GoF research, but it looks like they did. The Intercept recently sued for FOIA documents from EcoHealth and they found two additional grants that were not formerly disclosed.

Like you, I strongly oppose the Frankenstein-science going on in these labs. I don't know that it is "our government" that's involved in keeping information from the public, but people in high places certainly are twisting facts.

As far as I know, no one has definitively stated the virus leaked from a lab, but we are finding out the type of research that can create deadly viruses is taking place in these labs. That's what I want to see ended.

The virus could still have jumped naturally from an animal to a human. It may be years before we know for sure.

Three Vermont state troopers who are accused of being involved in a scheme to create fraudulent COVID-19 vaccination cards have resigned, state police said Tuesday.

Troopers Shawn Sommers and Raymond Witkowski resigned Aug. 10, a day after a fellow trooper told supervisors about the alleged scheme. Trooper David Pfindel resigned Sept. 3 following further investigation, according to a state police news release.

The three ex-troopers are suspected of having varying roles in the making of fraudulent vaccination cards, according to the release.

"The accusations in this case involve an extraordinary level of misconduct — a criminal violation of the law — and I could not be more upset and disappointed," Col. Matthew T. Birmingham, director of the Vermont State Police, said in the release. "If these allegations are proved to be true, it is reprehensible that state troopers would manipulate vaccination cards in the midst of a pandemic, when being vaccinated is one of the most important steps anyone can take to keep their community safe from COVID-19."

A small report from KY (me!) It has been spreading in my area a great deal. There are 3 family members from my Mother's church who have died in the last week from Covid, unvaccinated. I have 5 cousins that I know of who have it, all unvaccinated with exception to 1 who got the first shot a week and a half ago. Another distant cousin did get it but fully vaccinated and only a stuffy nose. 1 nephew has it as of yesterday with symptoms of a headache so far, had the J & J last year. A very good friend of mine has been in the hospital 2 weeks now who I am sure wasn't vaccinated but I believe possibly because she has had severe vascular problems for years. Very worried for her. Children out of school for a week and have returned now, they do wear masks at school.

My cousin who is a NP told me it's really raging through this area and so many unvaccinated. She tells me now people are beginning to get the jab. I don't understand the fear of it but it's a shame it takes a death to get many to believe it is a true threat.

Where do you find your state's registry?

You can probably find it by searching Google. If not, your physician’s office will have access to it.

I am familiar with quite a few of the state registries. Heath care providers are given log in information so they can look up and print vaccination information for their patients.

Indiana’s registry is called CHIRP. Wisconsin’s is WEIR. California is CAIR2. Texas is ImmTrac2. Florida is SHOTS (State Online Tracking System). Just to name a few.

Until COVID, these state registries were mostly used to track and print off childhood immunizations. When children go in to their pediatrician or clinic for a well child check the state registry is checked to see if they are up to date on vaccinations.

For adults, the registry was most often checked to see if they were due for a tetanus booster. Or if a patient was traveling abroad we could check to see if they were current on vaccines required for travel.

Now with COVID vaccinations we are able to print off documentation of their COVID shots. Maybe someone got the first shot at a mass vaccination event, and the second at a pharmacy. Both will appear on the state registry, and can be viewed or the record can be printed out.

Your blood pressure, exercise log, etc. is not going to contribute to a worldwide epidemic. Your coworkers cannot “catch” high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.

Employees in some industries have been required to share vaccination status with employers long before COVID. With good reason! Would you want your child’s teacher to be infected with tuberculosis? Or the nurse taking care of you to have hepatitis B?

I think this pandemic is worse than 1918 for one very important reason: we have the tools which include education and technology which they did not have in 1918, to have mitigated this virus to the point it would not have killed nearly as many people as it has in this country. This virus is also worse IMO because of how it affects so many systems in the body: it is not just respiratory, but it seems to affect all organs of the body- manifesting in strokes, blood clots, etc. This was not known early in the pandemic. There is also the aspect of post covid syndrome, which I do not think occurred in 1918 (though I do not know that for sure). There is the issue of the virus itself and however it originated-- the virus became politicized very early on- so instead of us pulling together as a country, masking up and doing things to protect ourselves and each other, people decided that wearing a mask was an indication of personal freedom or a political statement. Now that we have vaccines, the only thing that can pull us out of this horror, 1/3 of the population has decided not to take it, thereby prolonging the virus and affecting all of us-- just look at what is going on in the south with the Delta variant where vaccinations are low: And because people have decided not to get vaccinated they have allowed the virus to keep mutating into worse versions of itself. So yes, it is worse now for all the above reasons. Too many people continue to live like there is no pandemic.
