Helen Anderson: Tributes to woman found dead in Guildford

The family of a mother-of-four found dead beside a busy road said she was a "dear sister and daughter" with "a big heart".

The body of Helen Anderson, 41, of Finsbury Park, north London, was found in undergrowth beside a slip-road on the A3 in Guildford on Monday.

Surrey Police continue to question two men arrested on suspicion of murder and conspiracy to commit murder on Tuesday.

Detectives are appealing for dashcam or smart doorbell footage in the area.

Man, 52, charged with murder of mother-of-four, 41, found dumped near A3 Surrey slip road

"A man has been charged with murder after a woman's body was found dumped on the A3 near Guildford.

The body of Helen Anderson, 41, was found by a member of the public near the A3 in Guildford on Monday.

Dane Messam, 52, of Henry Road in Hackney, London, has been charged with murder and has been remanded into custody.

A 51-year-old man from Hackney has been released on bail after he was arrested in connection with the murder.

A further arrest has also been made in connection with the ongoing murder investigation."

Does this mean there are three people arrested, so far ?

Here is some info from a bus enthusiast friend who I asked about the bus which was reported as an item of interest with this case.
Murder police appeal for sightings of decommissioned Brighton bus after woman's death
Quote: “In particular, we would like to speak to anyone who saw a decommissioned double-decker Brighton and Hove bus in the north London area between 7.30pm on August 20 and 3pm on August 23.

The bus had been decommissioned and purchased as a private bus.
(I do have the registration number but for the owners privacy will keep this private).

Further details about the bus seen near the crime scene:-
V5C Issue Date was 23 Feb 2021 (The V5C is a paper document issued by the DVLA to the registered keeper of a vehicle and is used to confirm proof of ownership and the specific details of a vehicle. It's also used to inform the DVLA of a change of ownership, for a change of name and address, or if a vehicle has been modified,written-off or scrapped)

The vehicle is described as being in Sorn status ((Statutory Off Road Notification)
You must make a SORN in any of the following situations:
  • your vehicle is not taxed
  • your vehicle is not insured (even for a short time, for example because there’s a delay renewing your policy)
  • you want to break a vehicle down for parts before you scrap it
  • you buy or receive a vehicle and want to keep it off the road (you cannot transfer a SORN from the previous keeper)

Police think the murder was likely to have been committed elsewhere and her body dumped by the side of the A3. Two men have been arrested and currently in custody.
Do you think the bus that the police were interested in tracking down is thought to have come to play here.

You are asking if she was potentially murdered on this bus?
I was wondering if police had been thinking a vehicle like this may have been used to transport the body although nothing in those terms was ever mentioned regarding the bus. As Tootsie Tootsie points out the owner/driver of the bus may have been a possible key witness the police wanted to question. The bus is Sorn so maybe this is the reason no owner came forward straight away if they perhaps had no tax or insurance with the vehicle.

I would guess that members of the public actually saw the bus dumping the body or more likely circumstantially but strongly suggesting it (saw the bus park, heard the doors open and close, saw the bus leave, discovered the freshly dumped body) and/or perhaps didn't get the plate of the bus either but it's pretty recognizable and the owner is pretty suspicious.

Hopefully they find their concrete evidence soon or the eye witnesses are willing to make positive IDs
