The only difference is that your wife isn't deceased by a homicide (thankfully !), you're not driving a car without permission after the owner has passed, and to be honest -- no one said hiking the trail is indicative of criminality.
No one was sleuthing ill intent until Brian was declared a poi , and after it was official that Gabby passed from homicide.
Add grand theft to that, and yes people will sleuth this man to find out where he is hiding and if he's had help ?

People were sleuthing to find Gabby and if she had gone off with a different party and neglected to inform her loved ones.
Her parent's demeanor at the presser left me with no doubt we were looking at a criminal scenario.

The purpose of WS is to sleuth and post theories, and it brings us together --- those who have a common sympathy and most of all compassion for the innocent victims.
Gabby was a bright light that did not deserve the hand she was dealt by an unspeakable perp.
It helps to understand the goal of this site, and why we are all posting and sleuthing for the truth.

I wasn't dissing on this site. This site is awesome. I was commenting on how guilty I would look if someone started looking into my history. I've lived a long and varied life and had a lot of fun doing it. I'm impressed with all the things I've learned here that has surprised me, people can see whats on your music playlist if you haven't turned that off. That your site searches on The Dyrt and AllTrails might not be private. and so on.

Lawyer will have told them in no uncertain terms that if they are protecting BL they are staring down the barrel of a Federal gun. They are not that young. Moreover, people are going to hate them if they've been assisting BL.

Cops are going to be very, very, very pissed at them if the whole search has been a wild goose chase or they've been withholding info.

It is clearly in BL's best interests to turn himself in at this point (as it always was).

At some point they're going to fold.

The weirdest thing to me is that they don't seem to feel that under pressure.

If the parents are charged, that is.
We know Brian's facing grand theft.

Sorry if this is an obvious question but I'm really curious about police apparently doing surveillance on the parents today when they went to the lawyer. I'm not stanning for the parents here, just genuinely curious how the law works. To surveil someone, must there be some kind of evidence? Does it need anything like a warrant? I guess what I'm asking is if surveilling the parents suggests anything about their status in this investigation?

Oh, that's interesting. This actually seems to me like a good possibility. Might be that she said "grandpa stan" and it dropped the "grandpa". She might have been trying to get a quick message out because she thought something was wrong with him based on the number of calls and VMs, and didn't have time (or the ability, from Wyoming) to help him with whatever he was calling about.

BL could have potentially continued with his fairy tale to his parents, maybe they broke up and she continued on with a friend.

Probably at home.
This seems to be his first serious relationship? I was surprised to hear he had already proposed to Gabby while not having a job/career/education plan of his own. And his mother was reportedly overjoyed when she heard about the proposal. I bet she felt relief knowing that her troubled son finally found someone special who could tolerate him. Her son getting married young, not pursuing education, living in her home is the best outcome she had ever hoped for.

The parents can refuse a polygraph. Which would be typical of the behavior we have seen so far.

the parents called an attorney they knew. Did exactly what he said to do. No idea what story BL gave them. Really, best thing for parents is to keep mum. If they knew he killed her, then they are up for charges. But no way for Feds to find out if they all don’t say. Best thing legally is for all of them to sa nothing and let the Prosecutor put together a case and let defense attorney tear it down with other possibilities.

The lawyer's advice not to talk to the cops is excellent legal advice IF AND ONLY IF Brian told them that Gabby was dead. There could be no legal jeopardy arising from talking to the cops if no crime had been committed.

Or make plans. Get a burner phone, cash card, bus ticket. I assume that bus would be the transportation, not air. He is easy to recognize, however, probably easy to change appearance. No beard, wig, and big covid face mask.

I didn't see that, these threads are moving so fast it's hard to keep up! I thought it was just a question about if HIPPA was still viable if he had voluntarily checked himself in and because he's never been in custody or escaped from an institution I was thinking ihat no, it wouldn't be applicable.
