Met Police officer charged with rape

A Metropolitan Police officer will appear virtually at Hatfield Remand Court on Monday, 4 October.

PC David Carrick, 46, who is based within the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, was charged by Hertfordshire Constabulary on 3 October with rape. The officer was off-duty in Hertfordshire at the time.

He was arrested on 2 October by Hertfordshire Constabulary and suspended the same day by the Metropolitan Police. We await the outcome of criminal proceedings.

A referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Commissioner Cressida Dick said: “I am deeply concerned to hear the news today that an officer from the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command has been arrested and now charged with this serious offence. I fully recognise the public will be very concerned too.”

“Criminal proceedings must now take their course so I am unable to comment any further at this stage.”

He is charged with rape after alleged attack on woman on September 4th 2020

David Carrick, 46, from Stevenage, will appear at Hatfield Magistrates' Court on Monday.

PC Carrick, who was off duty at the time of the alleged attack, is a member of the Met's Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, which guards some of the UK's most secure buildings including 10 Downing Street.

same unit as PC Wayne Couzens ?
Same department but not sure how the department is split in terms of how many staff form a unit for Day duty and same for afternoon duty and same for night duties so he could have worked alongside WC or he may have been on a different shift pattern and wouldn’t see him apart from maybe a shift changeover if his unit followed WC shift or vice versa

Interesting that it took over a year for him to be arrested and charged. Unless the victim initially felt they wouldn't be believed due to his job, and then felt able to come forward after WC was sentenced.
My thoughts too.
I do wonder if there will be more charges down the line for other Police officers UK wide now.

Seems a bunch of sex offenders protecting the royals & female MP's-would imagine if Princess Katie or Meghan had been abducted, raped & murdered a lot more would have been done. Again, it seems odd it is has taken over a year for this guy to be arrested-assuming it was reported at the time & has it seems remained in his role since then one assumes. The a referral has been made by the Met Police to the Independent Office for Police Conduct statement indicates they have ballsed up yet again-likely ignoring the complainant for a year & this is just being done now for PR purposes.

It might mean that the infamous whatsapp group connected to WC is now being carefully examined.

A serving Metropolitan Police officer charged with rape has been remanded in custody after appearing in court today.

PC David Carrick, 46, who is based within the Met's Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, appeared at Hatfield Magistrates' Court.

He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at St Albans Crown Court on 1 November.

The Met said he was off duty at the time of the alleged rape, which Hertfordshire Constabulary said occurred on 4 September 2020 in St Albans.

Hmmm... Can it be classified as a rape I wonder.

Depends on whether she has any corroborating evidence & potential witnesses like hotel employees & guests in nearby rooms, CCTV, audio/video recordings made on her or his phone etc. It doesn't say when she came forward-it could have been last week or six months ago-so it is unlikely there is any CCTV evidence even if it was earlier in the year. These cases are very hard to prosecute at the best of times, when there was no physical examination of her & any evidence has almost certainly been lost to the mists of time the chances of a conviction are slim. Even if untrue his defence will just say she is an attention seeker looking to profit for compensation off the SE case & that either it never happened or it was consensual.
