The defense is arguing about the GPS monitoring on his ankle monitoring. #BarryMorphew is wanting to stay in Maysville and is getting a cell booster. He says he feels unsafe in Salida because people know him too much now.
I'm good with him feeling unsafe, he should be.

IMO, it's a good thing the area residents are learning more about BM's true self and possible motives.

Poor Barry......

#BarryMorphew and his attorney Iris Eytan are inside the Chaffee County Courthouse now.

#BarryMorphews defense asked Mrs. Ritter today if they were afraid of him and she said no. The Ritters are on the no-contact list and live near where Morphew was staying where no GPS was being detected on his ankle-monitor in Maysville.

So odd to be on a no-contact list, but not be afraid of the person. Perhaps afraid is not quite the word the Ritters would use. Does prosecution have a right to rebut?
Excellent.

Judge says that he will need #BarryMorphew to travel to Poncha Springs every day so that his GPS is recognized. He says if he does not want to do that then he needs to move. @KKTV11News

This restriction would put him on the map once a day. Is that the intent of the GPS anklet, to know that BM hasn't flown the coop? How does this police violations of other terms of the bond? Or is it not supposed to do that?

Iris says #BarryMorphew is complying with the courts order and not going off the grid. She says the company tracking the GPS don't have concerns and can pick him up as soon as he gets in service.

If the company tracking the GPS don't have concerns, then why did they contact the court about it?
Because I think the most relevant issue speaks to intimidation and possible danger to witnesses that live in the area where LE can't track him.

I thought it was 24/7, not once per day.

I guess it still tracks his movements, but doesn't upload that collected data until he's within cell range. So there won't be any real time monitoring when he's in Maysville.

Maybe the Ritters aren't scared. I can't imagine Barry doing anything to threaten them anyways. They don't know enough, and the cat is out of the bag.

#BarryMorphew does have a protection order on the old house which is next to where he wants to live. Morphew must travel to Poncha Springs for the GPS to recognize his location everyday and the judge said if he doesn't do this then he will have to move.

This will make sure the data on the ankle-monitor will download. Sounds like it still won't monitor while #BarryMorphew is in Maysville due to poor cell reception.

Let me understand.

He has to go to Poncha Springs once a day. Otherwise he us free to move about Maysville undetected?

What could possibly go wrong?

I’m thinking in a 24 hour time span he could ride to Poncha Springs, then fly to Mexico to find a place to move to and then fly back for his next check in. After a couple of trips, he is gone forever.

Seriously though, BM isn’t giving up his $500k bond. He will show up in court because his defense seems to have a walk in the park right now. Easy peasy.

Question: when he gets to Poncha Springs daily, will the ankle monitor upload where he's been?

Scary to think that if he removes his anklet, he'll have about a 23.5 hour headstart.

My next question: how many people within a radius of BM are afraid to say they're afraid?

Poor Suzanne. Where is her justice?

We're talking about discovery now. The defense says there are over one million files for discovery and there are months and months for them to go to get through everything. @KKTV11News #BarryMorphew

Now onto the motion to return #BarryMorphew truck and driver's license. @KKTV11News

The prosecution has no problem with that. They need identification that #BarryMorphew is the rightful owner of the truck and they will get the license back to him as well. @KKTV11News

OK, so the math tutor in me is kicking in. Has the judge defined what checking in every day means? Is it a 24 hour period or once during the calendar day? If the latter, BM could have almost 48 hours in between Poncha Springs runs.
