GUILTY UK - Conservative MP Sir David Amess, fatally stabbed, Essex, 15 Oct 2021 *arrest*

Boris Johnson and Keir Starmer were joined by Secretary Priti Patel and Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle as the political leaders lay wreaths at the Southend West MP's constituency surgery in Leigh-on-Sea.

A terror suspect ...... lived in the Southend West area ........... a Briton of Somali descent, 25 - may have previously been referred to an anti-radicalisation programme.

............ officers raided two properties in London as it emerged the suspect's family came to the UK from Somalia in the 1990s.

Detectives said their early investigation revealed a potential motivation linked to Islamist extremism.

Whitehall officials have revealed the primary suspect was not on any official terror database............

However sources told the Guardian that the suspect has the same details as someone who was referred to the PREVENT programme - set up by counterterrorism bosses to stop vulnerable people from being radicalised by extremists.

PREVENT involves local authorities and police and sees potential targets for radicalisation referred and assessed. If they are deemed a terrorism risk, they may be referred to the Home Office’s Channel Programme or given help from a mentor. In some cases police will intervene.

PREVENT is useless. If you look it up on Google you'll find numerous criticisms about it over the years.

In terms of MP security, I'm not so sure it will change much in the long term. MPs have been offered more security before especially after Jo Cox and many turned it down. Often people seeing their MP are vulnerable and the MPs are obviously aware of this so they're understandably wary of adding more security and making it more intimidating.

I'd also add that in the Jo Cox case she was shot after leaving a surgery. It would take insane levels of manpower and funds to stop that sort of thing from being a possibility. Even if you put a security guard in the room for example, someone could easily stab the MP multiple times before they could even react.

Agree re PREVENT

Recent case of Danyal Hussein - murdered Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman in June 2020 - he was also put into the PREVENT programme.

Hussein was referred under the counter-terrorism Prevent programme in October 2017 by his school, over concerns that he may have been displaying signs of vulnerability to radicalisation.

He was then referred after further assessment to the Channel programme, a voluntary strand under Prevent, and received what the Metropolitan police described as “appropriate support and interventions”.

In May 2018, he was discharged from the Channel process with no outstanding concerns at that time with respect to violent extremism or terrorism, according to Scotland Yard, and continued to receive support from his school, health and social services.

"A pact with the demon"???
I think that instead of this PREVENT Programme he should have been referred to a psychiatrist.
But it is only MO.

As word spread of the atrocity, Father Jeffrey Woolnough, a local Roman Catholic priest who went on to lead a church vigil on Saturday, arrived to offer Sir David, himself a devout Catholic, the last rites.

He was denied entry, however, and so stood on the street with another man reciting the rosary. He described it as a “great disappointment” for a Roman Catholic not to be able to receive the last rites.

Killer launched horrifying assault that sent MP’s aides screaming, then sat down beside his victim

After stabbing Sir David several times, his assailant sat down next to his body, making no effort to evade police, it has emerged.

A Southend Conservative Party source said: “One of Sir David’s office staff was in the hall with him, and it now appears that after attacking Sir David, this man sat down and waited for police to arrive. It’s absolutely chilling.”

One man helping millions: How dogged Sir David Amess changed so many laws from the backbenches

During his 38-year parliamentary career, Sir David Amess achieved more from the backbenches than many ministers do during their time in Government.

By taking up causes as diverse as women’s health, animal welfare, fuel poverty and fire safety, Sir David drove changes to the law that have benefited millions of people.

Boris Johnson said Sir David, who died on Friday after being attacked at a constituency surgery, had “an outstanding record of passing laws to help the most vulnerable”, while Dominic Raab, the Justice Secretary, described him as “a formidable campaigner”.

Sir Graham Brady, the chairman of the 1922 Committee of backbench Conservatives, told The Telegraph: “David was a fine MP who really understood how much good can be done, how much influence can be brought to bear from the backbenches.

“David’s legacy will be in the thousands of people whom he helped, the causes for which he fought with vigour and enthusiasm, and the huge affection and respect with which he will be remembered by so many.”

Sir David Amess suspect was ‘known to anti-terror police’

The suspected killer of Sir David Amess was a “self-radicalised” lone operative known to counterterrorist police, according to Whitehall sources.

Police and the security services believe the suspect was acting alone and may have been inspired by the jihadist group al-Shabaab, an offshoot of al-Qaeda operating in Somalia and Kenya.

Investigators are examining the theory that he was radicalised online during lockdown. Yesterday they continued to search two properties in London after declaring the attack on Amess a terrorist incident.

Scotland Yard said that early inquiries had uncovered “a potential motivation linked to Islamist extremism”.

Security chiefs are concerned that the horrific murder could embolden other extremists to carry out copycat attacks on other prominent targets. Priti Patel, the home secretary, has ordered police to urgently review security arrangements for all MPs.

A clearer picture emerged this weekend of his background, and how he allegedly carried out the attack. He is thought to have been born in the UK after his family fled war-torn Somalia in the 1990s.

He lives in London but Whitehall sources said he had family ties to Southend, close to Leigh-on-Sea.

Police and the security services believe the pandemic has led to many vulnerable individuals being radicalised over the internet while spending lockdown indoors. Investigators will be poring over the suspect’s computers and phones for evidence, as well as examining any previous overseas travel.

Although Islamic State has inspired dozens of lone attackers across the world since declaring its short-lived “caliphate” in Syria and Iraq in 2014, intelligence officials believe that al-Qaeda offshoots in Africa could prove to be a bigger inspiration for potential recruits in Britain.

https://twitter.com/telegraph/status/1449479612581490693?s=21 he had received threats in days before

It emerged on Saturday that Sir David, a 69-year-old father of five, had received an “upsetting” threat in the days leading up to the fatal attack on him during a routine constituency surgery.
The threat to the veteran MP was made in the past few days and was reported to police. It is understood that Essex Police received a report of the threat but are not connecting it with Friday’s attack. At least one individual connected to Sir David was also understood to have been the subject of a recent threat.

Despite the threat, Sir David chose to go ahead with his public appointments, including the advice surgery.

Absolutely appalling, but not surprising anymore, that they stopped a priest from giving Last Rites.
Especially, when he was murdered by Ali Harbi Ali, because he was Catholic.

Rules for some and not for others...

Isnt it strange that the attacker travelled from London to this town?
It seems to me he had a personal grudge to Sir David.
He didnt attack anybody else.
And then waited for the Police to be arrested. Very strange behaviour in MO.
PS
His council house looks nice.
I thought such houses are in the poorer part of a city.
