Trial scheduled for man charged with 2020 triple slaying

Sept. 17, 2021

BARTOW — The trial of Tony Lee “T.J.” Wiggins Jr. has been set to begin April 3, 2023 by Judge Jalal Harb on Friday.

Wiggins is charged with the July 2020 shooting deaths of Brandon Rollins, Damion Tillman and Keven Springfield as they prepared to go night fishing at a Frostproof lake.

@PayrollNerd - unfortunately I can't access Polk County (again) - any new court dates for Wiggins? TIA! :)
The court site hasn't been updated yet. I'll have to check next week. Maybe this fresh link will work?

Can anyone explain the meaning of 'Memo of Court (SNAPOUT)' on Mary Whittemore's docket yesterday? TIA
I think this is just the handwritten notes until hearings and items are added to the docket. When you look at this one, it shows her next hearing 1-11-2022 at 1pm but the actual hearing schedule doesn't have it listed yet.

7/27/21 Update: Wiggins had a bond hearing Tuesday that he attended virtually in which his lawyer, Graylin Chastang, requested that he be granted bond to help his father, Tony Wiggins Sr., 57, of Frostproof with transportation, property maintenance & finances as well as provide a stable residence for his son. In testimony Tuesday, Polk County Sheriff's Detective Alexander Tan said the Wiggins brothers frequently discussed the case and that the older brother & their father were attempting to apply pressure to Robert Wiggins to not testify against his brother. Tan also testified about emails between T.J. & Robert Wiggins using their mother, Kimberly Keen, as a facilitator. "There is no way to ensure the integrity of the judicial process under pretrial release conditions because Mr. Wiggins was being held under pretrial order and continued to violate the order of the court while in custody” Judge Melissa Gravitt said Tuesday. “If he can't follow the order of the court while he’s in custody, I certainly have no assurance that he would follow it if he was out of custody.” Bond denied. Next pretrial conference hearing on 8/3/21.
8/3/21 Update: Next pretrial conference hearing on 11/16/21. 9/17/21: Notice of Confidential Information within Court Filing. Supplemental Discovery pursuant to Rule 3.220.
*Tony Lee J “TJ” Wiggins, Jr. (26/now 27) – Murder: Status hearing on 12/10/21. Assault charge & Firearms: Pretrial conference hearing on 12/10/21. Trial set to begin on 4/3/23.
*Mary Clare Whittemore (27) – Accessory & Perjury: Pretrial conference hearing on 1/11/22.

There is no updated information from the hearing today for Robert. I did look at his inmate sheet and it says there are no charges. I thought that was strange.

Tony W also doesn't show on the County roster with charges so maybe not so strange. Actually, I'm recalling how some counties show arrest charges at booking and stop reporting charges after the inmate makes their first appearance.
