MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis police are searching for a woman who went missing early Friday.

Eliza Fletcher, 34, went missing in the early morning hours. Police found her personal items but have not located her.

Her last reported location was on Carr Avenue, near S Willett Street.

Her description is 5 foot, 6 inches tall, 137 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.

The University of Memphis sent an alert to students saying a woman had been kidnapped at about 4:30 a.m. on Central Avenue, near the school’s campus.

Officers were called to the scene around 7 a.m. when Fletcher was reported missing.

Police say the woman frequently jogs in the area and was approached by an unknown person and forced into an SUV.

The suspect was possibly in a dark color SUV traveling westbound on Central Ave.

Police say Fletcher’s phone was found smashed and the phone and her water bottle were found in front of a home on Central Ave.

Friends say the woman they know as Liza is an avid runner and is a mother of two children.

She is also a teacher at St. Mary’s Episcopal School, where she teaches Junior Kindergarten.

Anyone with information about Fletcher’s whereabouts should call 911 immediately.

Links, links, links !!

Excerpt from The Rules: Etiquette & Information

LINKS and REFERENCING OUTSIDE SOURCES

Websleuths is fact based. Rumors and conspiracy theories are not allowed. Do not link to them and do not mention them.

Information stated as fact must be supported by a link to a mainstream media or law enforcement source (or other WS approved source) to substantiate the fact, otherwise the post will be removed, along with all responses to it. If the information is only your opinion, please make that clear in your post so that opinions do not become rumors attributed to Websleuths as the source.

NOTE:
Blanket disclaimers in signatures that posts are your opinion are not sufficient as signatures are not visible to guests or members who are not logged in.

Quoting an outside source is allowed when the content is intended to substantiate a post. Examples are a snipped portion of a mainstream media (MSM) news article or a legal or scholarly article. While Websleuths does not prohibit quotes from sources outside of WS, we reserve the right to remove the quote and link if the source is deemed inappropriate. Random blogs and podcasts are not allowed without prior approval by a Mod or Admin.

NOTE: When quoting an outside source, a link to the source must be included in the post. The same rule applies to posting images. All images require a link to the source.

When discussing video content, a link must be provided to the source and also include an approximate timestamp so that other members and Websleuths staff don't have to wade through hours of content to find what is being discussed.

If you aren't sure a source is approved, please private message a Mod or Admin before posting to ask. Don't just post "Mods please delete if not allowed". We may not see your post for weeks, meanwhile it has introduced non-approved information into the discussion, requiring massive cleanups or thread closures.

ADMIN NOTE:

Melanie Moon's Twitter is allowed in this discussion.

WS Mods or Admins decide what sources are approved, so please don't be derailing a thread with bickering over it. If you have an issue, use the Report feature to let us know and then let us decide whether a source can be discussed. Not everything is black and white so there is no blanket explanation. In a nutshell, depends on the case, the source .. WS staff review and consider a lot of different factors, and use discretion and judgment as to whether something is allowed or not.

Again, if you have an issue, Report and let us decide.

Thank you.

There are far too many TOS violations in this discussion.

Read The Rules that Websleuths has in place folks or thread reply bans or Time Outs will be issued.

MOD NOTE:

The second person arrested at the same time as the POI in this case is OFF TOPIC to this case unless/until law enforcement announces they are involved in THIS case. Timeouts and thread bans will be issued for members who discuss this person.

This thread is dedicated to discussion of Eliza's specific case and facts related directly to her case. It is NOT for the broader, overall discussion of violence against women.

Violence against women is a vast public / social justice issue that is not peculiar to this case. WS has hundreds, if not thousands, of cases that have involved such violence. If you wish to discuss the topic in general, I'm sure you'll find a thread you can contribute to. Just do a 'title' search using the word 'violence' and have a look around. You will find many WS threads and resources related to violence in general.

MOD NOTE:

Websleuths IS and ALWAYS HAS BEEN VICTIM/FAMILY-FRIENDLY.

That means that family members may NOT BE ACCUSED of any wrong-doing UNLESS/UNTIL they have been named as suspects or POIs in this tragic case. That includes any implications or thinly-veiled accusations or speculations.

It is a serious violation of of Websleuths’ Terms of Service to do so. ALL MEMBERS are expected to follow the TOS we ALL agreed to when we joined. It is especially troubling when long-time members, who should know better, engage in these violations. Thread bans and Time Outs WILL BE ISSUED when this happens.
Bringing rumors here from social media is also a serious violation. Saying, "I don't know if I believe the thing about _______" is NOT a way to get around this prohibition; you still brought that rumor here, and next thing you know, it's become fact because Websleuths said so. Just don't do it.

Social Media pages of the victim, the LE named POI, and OFFICIAL "Help Find" type pages are allowed. Official pages almost always run by the family and top-level posts, but NOT comments on those posts, are permitted. Social media of journalists and LE are also allowed.

Thank you for your renewed efforts to post respectfully and responsibly according to the Websleuths TOS. That will insure that your posting privileges are not interrupted.

FROM ADMIN:

PLEASE STOP-
* Sleuthing/discussing any family member’s social media or online presence.
* Criticizing any actions friends may have taken. Saying “I would have done ___ instead“ is not helpful and actually off topic.
* Posting something you claim you heard/read without a link, and then saying it’s just your opinion. Opinions must be based in published facts, and what you just posted in that way is considered a RUMOR, and a violation of TOS.

This is a very disturbing case, and we all need this thread and each other to help manage the difficult emotions it evokes. AND we have to do it within the Websleuths’ Terms of Service. It’s up to each one of us to keep this valuable resource open for all.

I wish we knew more about that cleaning service he worked for. Was it a legit business, or kind of a side job thing?
Residential and commercial? If it was more commercial than residential, that could be a reason LE was searching along I240 yesterday. This guy seemed to stick to a central area based on where we've seen LE searching.

It could also explain why was he was up and around at 4am if he was working.

I wonder if he has access to a storage unit through his girlfriend, brother, brother's girlfriend, the brother's deceased wife (if they never changed the lease agreement), etc?
I'm not sure if you have ever been inside one of those storage units, but unless it was a climate-controlled one, if she was dumped inside one of those, in the heat of a Memphis summer, I think the odor alone would have alerted someone to her location by now. They get oppressively hot, very quickly, even before you roll the door down. JMO

Last thread I was asked why carry a phone and wear a Garmin type watch. My watch does not make calls. I carry mine for that reason and I also listen to music or podcasts via my phone. My watch has capability to download limited music but I prefer to just stream via my phone. I was asked what kind of watch she was wearing in the photo. I could not see the face. It looked like a smart watch of some kind. Could be that they could use the watch to help track her beyond the point where the phone was broken.

Maybe that's why LE took her laptop. If they couldn't sync her watch up to her phone since it was smashed, maybe they could sync it to her computer? That's how fitbit worked when I had one.

Isn’t this why they have had the Helicopter flying to spot stuff like this?

The thermal imaging camera will detect sources of heat and so like you say she won’t be a in a container ?!

It is a legit cleaning service focusing on mostly commercial. If he was a cleaning technician at a commercial business, they go in around 8 pm to clean (after the office workers go home). So maybe that's his normal schedule to be up at night and sleep during the day. This is all speculation on my part.
