If that’s dessert, that’s a hard pass. I don’t eat that much dessert anyway.

I’ve found low fat & low sugar foods have lots more salt & other junk. I bake & cook from scratch due to food allergies. Baked goods here are gluten free made with bean flour.

I usually go to the store and find something for the metal taste in my mouth. I haven’t done that this week. I’m out of Smarties candies but I have some cinnamon hard candies. I’ve been picking at the same chocolate bar for over a month.

Last week it was GF pumpkin cookies. Some with icing and some plain. The youngest took a bunch home. I mailed a package to my oldest. They didn’t quite survive the trip! Ha!

Pumpkin cookies sound v festive. We hardly have anything pumpkin related here, I need to fly a flag for it :p

Did a breakfast food prep this morning. I bought a pack of rolls for ham sandwiches, non gluten free. Since only my girls need GF and they're not visiting, I decided I'd make breakfast sandwiches to use them up. The church had given me medium sized eggs, not large which I need for baking. So I needed to use those up too.

I sliced up some medium cheddar, layered some ham pieces, spinach, a cooked egg, and dash of pepper, after spreading the rolls with mustard. I put 2 toothpicks in to keep them upright. I ate one immediately and it dawned on me I should have toasted it in my toaster oven. I will do that for the next 2 breakfasts. They turned out quite tasty. And only need to clean up once!

Im going to have a wee moan here but why does decaf coffee taste rubbish! I really thought it would taste the same but its far from it. I drink asda gold blend which is very nice and very affordable, so i thought id try asda gold decaf, and it was rubbish. And then I thought id try nescafe decaf, that was rubbish too. I think im giving up on decaf.

We mix 1/3 regular coffee grounds with 2/3 decaf grounds. We drink it black with a dash of sea salt in the mug. Helps cut the bitterness and doesn't taste salty.

It isn’t just you. We drink Dunkin Donuts coffee . DH has decaf. I tried it, and it’s just awful.
Wow dunkin donuts, we used to have one of those in Glasgow, it was such an appealing looking place although I never went in it, but remember eyeing up the various treats through the window, I'm sure I remember a nice aroma too.

Now salt in coffee, that is controversial! I'm a salt lover too so I'd probably like it.

But I've decided I've gave up on decaf, I'm just going to stick with the normal stuff. I was drinking decaf from 1pm onwards but can't say I noticed any benefit, I was hoping it might help me get to sleep easier.

I don't drink coffee but I'd say I'm ridiculously spoiled and prefer Lipton tea bags, over any other brand. I've tried the others and I can taste a difference. The box of 100 Lipton teabags was cheaper online than in the store. So I ordered a 6 pack. 100% spoiled.
DH likes Lipton teabags for his summer iced tea. I like an iced tea occasionally, but DH drinks it daily during the summer months. He was accustomed to buying a three-pack (104 bags each) at Costco but they did not have it at all this year. He got whatever brand was available at Meijer or Kroger. I prefer decaffeinated or herbal teas and usually have several varieties from which to choose for my afternoon cup. Neither of us drinks much coffee, and we only drink decaf when we each have a cup or two in the morning. Honestly, I don't notice the difference between regular and decaf by taste.

A tea story from my past. Before pink elastic was invented, ballet mothers used to soak white elastic in a pot of strong tea to make it flesh-colored. The dyed elastic looked better than white on pink ballet slippers and also made costume bodices look strapless as the flesh-colored elastic blended with skin tone. By the time DD was studying ballet in the '70s, ballet pink elastic was readily available wherever dance supplies were sold.

I have likewise used a tea solution to darken the edges of freshly cut wood planks -- in order to match the darker color of existing weathered wood (for example if repairing or adding to an existing deck) both for aesthetic pleasure as well as to hide the new construction from any building inspectors who might happen to be passing by

I went to the food pick up today and they gave me a 14 lb turkey, thawed. I wasn't planning meal prep today. I'm still recovering from treatment on Tuesday and I'm tired.

Anyway, I cut the bird up to two leg quarters and the breast with wings. I plan to cook it tomorrow. I need to go get those cooking bags because the breast with wings is too big for my rotisserie. Tossed everything else, and I know I could make soup, but I'm not a huge fan of turkey soup. It would make so much and I'm the only one who would eat it. I hope my trash doesn't smell too bad by Monday!

Most of the produce was too far gone including the bagged salad. The mini potatoes and butternut squash are fine. I may save those for Christmas dinner. I was surprised to see GF muffins so they went right into the freezer for my girls. I'm allergic to ginger.

I haven't read the ingredients on some of these packages yet. I'm not sure if I can eat some of these things. But I will find a home for them for sure. So grateful for all they give me and they always say, if it's too much, please share.

Unlucky alergic to ginger @PayrollNerd my gran used to make the most delicious pear and ginger tart, it didnt have any pastry, not sure why it was called tart. It was a sticky, gingery, really dark coloured sponge, and she would turn it out upside down and there was a fan of pears then sitting on the top, it was DELICIOUS! Served warm with cold cream. I miss my grans cooking/baking.

I'd call that an upsidedown cake, rather than a tart. Sounds delicious.

This recipe is what it looked like with the pears on top, but the sponge was much darker,a really dark brown, it maybe had treacle in it, i know my gran put treacle in her gingerbread.

Could be treacle, could be dark brown sugar, could be dates. All three result in a dark coloured sponge and a rich, caramelly flavour.
