I presume the park is still open to dog walkers so could've just been a Sunday morning lap of the park and they were just in the right/wrong place at the right time and caught sight of something unusual surfacing in the water.

In an ideal world you'd rather the police searches had found here rather than members of the public of course due to the mental scarring.
Having found a body myself and got it to the side with my dinghy and boathook I didn't find it all that traumatic. He had been in the water a couple of weeks and there was algae. I did roll him over to check but the face wasn't visible..

IMO spotting something in a river when you know someone has gone missing isn't going to be bad. Recovering it is potentially a bit dodgy but seeing it, when you are expecting it, isn't that serious.

They float with the back up and the hands and legs and head hanging downwards into the water.

Wonder how long until NB surfaces. Could be weeks, could be months. Potentially she might never. JMO of course.

Does anyone have any idea how long decomp takes underwater?
One would think if it was suicide that her remains would've been discovered by now ?
I was leaning more towards an abduction, but LE haven't hinted at that yet.
The best scenario would be voluntarily missing as then she would be safe, just gone for a while to clear her head or distance herself from her current life.
Imo.

Could someone please let me know who is reporting from the scene (UK please), so I can make a formal complaint. Obviously I’m not watching and as Lancashire police have released a statement, there is absolutely no need for the media to be there.

I don’t even know if the body has been retrieved. I’m sure it’s most likely to be Nicola but I feel uncomfortable saying it’s her, in this particular situation.

If the body hasn’t been retrieved, I will be apoplectic by the media’s behaviour.

Took a look on Twitter to see what people are saying now that a body has been found. Praise for the police? Feeling of helplessness for the family?

Nope, largely people still posting wild theories.
Am also watching Peter Bleksley on SkyNews live ( C4's Hunted, True Crime Con guest, TC author) complain about the speculators and ghouls
( He had been on ThisMorning, previously, complaining that LP were not providing enough case info to the public. Just rewatched his clip UK - UK - Nicola Bulley Last Seen Walking Dog Near River - St Michaels on Wyre (Lancashire) #8

I just want to say to all ladies suffering from peri/menopause there are support groups out there. Don’t struggle on alone. There’s light at the end of this very dark tunnel.
I think regardless of how she entered the water if this is confirmed to be her. The spotlight it has shined on the menopause it is overall a small positive. It's something that society has not talked about enough.

I wonder if they will be able to find out if this was a tragic accident or a deliberate act
I think they will be able to determine cause of death but the manner of death might need more investigating.

The way the harness and lead were found between the bench and river made me think it was an accident initially.

But I think it took Paul some time to think about what may have led to Nicola's disappearance. He noticed things were different that morning and spoke to police about the medical problems she had been battling.

We don't know the extent of the challenging issues the family were going through, but police have that information, as well as anything friends and co-workers have contributed to the investigation.

If it turns out she did drown and has been found in the river, it doesn't say much for that specialist dive expert Lancashire Police brought in.
He said she definitely wasn't in there, other wise he'd have found her.
It'll make him look a bit silly, especially as he was so egoistical and sure of himself.

Are you aware they've found a body in the river, though as yet to be formally identified?

Someone commits murder after abduction, wants to get rid of the body. Knowing police have searched that are dump it there, or knowing police have suspicion of her just falling in river dump it there? Jmo and theories of course
Other than being a theoritical possibility do you think it's something that actually happened?

I'm genuinely interested in the thinking that despite everything we know about Nicolas mental health she was unlucky enough to have somehow crossed paths with a crazed risk taking kidnapper/murderer

Very easy to disprove this theory. Injuries, cause of death and a body that clearly hadn't been in the water for 3 weeks. Complete non starter of an idea
