Oh no not another one. Wonder if he went missing in the morning or if he was just reported in the morning.

Seems late evening/over night of 19th.
Thing is at first at thought he might have wandered near water after a night out, but looking at the location of the quarry I think it would have to be intentional. Then again it might have been a short cut.

There's a lot of crime in Rugby, or there was when I lived nearby seven years ago or so. I hope he's OK.

On another note, the council asked people not to swim in Newbold Quarry due to the dangers it poses. If he fell in, especially in February, it would pose significant risk to life.

Cllr Jim Ellis said: "With the beautiful weather and the rising temperatures, it's temping to see shimmering water at the quarry and think a quick dip won't hurt.

"But we've had plenty of deaths over the years where the 50ft deep freezing cold water has claimed lives.

"It's not a safe swim. The waters are very dangerous, treacherous even. Please stay out of the water."

Officers are thanking residents for their continued support as the search for a missing boy from Newbold continues through its third day.

17-year-old Toby Burwell was reported missing from his home in Newbold on the morning of Monday, February 20.

A full-scale search was launched that same day, involving officers, detectives, fire fighters and expert divers.

Since then detectives, supported by specialist officers, have been working around the clock to find Toby.

One line of enquiry led police to order a search of Newbold Quarry, and divers have been searching through the water.

In addition, experts have been searching from above using a raft and specialist equipment.

Meanwhile, detectives and officers have been going door-to-door and mounting foot and vehicle patrols across the town and in key areas.

Detective Inspector Gareth Unett, based at Rugby station, has been leading the investigation from the start.

He said: “We are working at full capacity to find Toby and we will continue to do so.

“We are taking no chances at all, and that’s why we are pursuing several lines of enquiry at once.

“I would like to take this chance to thank residents of Rugby for their support in sharing our appeals far and wide.

“Because Rugby has such a strong community spirit, we are seeing residents coming forward and asking how they can help.

“There are three things you can do that will genuinely help us: share our appeals far and wide, urge family and friends to be vigilant and, finally, if you spoke with Toby in the days leading to his disappearance, please call us.”

If you see Toby, call 999 immediately and quote incident 38 of February 20.

Specialist divers are continuing to work at a quarry as a search for a missing teenager continues. Earlier this week we reported police were desperately looking for 17-year-old Toby Burwell.

The youngster went missing from his home in Newbold, near Rugby, on Monday (February 20). Expert divers have been searching Newbold Quarry since then but detectives from Warwickshire Police say they are keeping an "open mind".

Detective Inspector Gareth Unett revealed officers were pursuing several different lines of enquiry. He urged anybody with any information to get in touch.

In its most recent update, the force said crews would work throughout this weekend. Land around Newbold Quarry is also being probed using special equipment.

I hate to say this, but Warwickshire are doing the precise same thing Lancs did with Nicola Bulley. They're focussing on just one piece of water, assuming that, because it's close to where he went missing, then he must be in there. Obviously they will have gathered some other information, and of course NB's body was ultimately found in the Wyre, but it feels limiting, myopic, a bit narrow-sighted to just focus on water in this way, in any case where a significant body of water is in the vicinity. JMO.

No further news here? Or is it like the Jack Rogers case where he has been sadly found deceased earlier this week but no update from police, and only reference is via friends/family SM posts.

There’s “Help Find Toby Burwell” FB page run by his mother.

Toby is unfortunately still missing, it seems.
