Obscenity citation to ABERCROMBIE & FITCH manager...

Police, saying they were responding to citizen complaints, carted away two large promotional photographs from the Abercrombie & Fitch store in Lynnhaven Mall on Saturday and cited the manager on obscenity charges.

Adam Bernstein, a police spokesman, said the seizure and the issuance of the summons came only after store management had not heeded warnings to remove the images.

it does make for great advertisng for Abercrombie and Fitch, doesn't it? this type of publicity!

Everyone around here has talked about the latest ads.
If you've ever looked at other A&F ads, you already know that they always push the limit. Previous ads have IMO have been border line pornographic.

Considering that half of the young females out there have their bum cracks showing, I suppose it is only fair that we get to see some male cracks out there.

I don't know if I would categorize it as obscene, but it is definitely unnecessary.

i'm not happy about cursing either, but lawks-a-lummy! the idea there are signs up is ridiculously childish, IMO.

ITA, actually I thought this was pretty tame compared to some of the other ads they've had.

If you go to the beach all the time you know good and well that the cussing 'reminder' isn't followed nor is it carried out as gospel.

Just the same as the A&F display ads...you know which are questionable and which ones are not.

I think the cursing ban is selectively enforced. Just like don't block the box. I saw the ads at the mall, but the truth of it is who goes to the mall and actually looks at the ads long enough to be offended? I only noticed them out of the corner of my eye. Do other people actually go from store to store to admire the ads or something?

My daughter has two friends that are modles for A&f. One is male and one is female. The girl has been my daughters friend since birth. This friend is a freshmen in college and is modeling for them as well, the money is great. She just told us two days ago that she is planning to quit because of the way they speak to her (foul and sexual language) and because she is uncomfortable with the way the want her to behave. I was really proud of her.

I worked at Abercrombie for like a month back in highschool but i quit because there managers are so rude. They seriously act like creeps you meet at a bar...not a professional manager. so i was like screw this!

I don't think it's a big idea. Usually folks here are way more uptight about nudity, implied or otherwise.

Many should go live in Europe where it's a fact of every day living if they think our ads are risque. Or better yet, maybe they shouldn't. They might pass out if they saw the programs and billboards there lol
