Weird case here in Utah. Husband down and dies later at hospital. From various reports wfe claimed her and the kids have been sick and MIL calls 911 for CO2 poisoning. Wife and kids are instead ok and wife refuses to let LE into her house. LE says CO2 claim is false. LE obtains a search warrant and are seen picking a lock to a room. They later remove evidence but are tightlipped. On local blogs people claiming to be family say the wife is in ICU. Police are still saying she's ok but at the hospital. Pshych hold?

Co2 would normally kill children first because of their small size. This is a strange one. I wonder what is in the box and bag that police took as evidence.

The fact that the kids are fine are what threw a wrench into this for me. I wonder what was in the box and bag as well.

Wow, this promises to be an interesting case to follow. Thanks for posting it!

I'll try to keep you all posted on the updates, but LE is very good about being tightlipped in Utah. Especially after the Elizabeth Smart case where there were leaks galore. Even when cases go to trial here, hardly any info is released.

That is bizarre and sad.

Why don't they release his name?

The below is a local post by a supposed family member at KSL.com. She's saying completely opposite of what is being reported by latest media reports. I'm going to apologize upfront because moderation is almost nil on that site and looney's get on there and some way or another they'll start blaming gun control, the LDS Church or "the mexicans".

Thank you for your support. Yes, she is still in ICU, everyones blood was full of natural gas, she was in critical condition yesterday, plus she lost her hearing so she did not know what anyone was asking her. Yes, questar should up to the house and found allot of natural gas leaking into the home. that's why everyone was throwing up, not carbon monixide. That's what we suspected at first when "the mother in law" and I showed up, and yes all the doors and windows got opened to let fresh air into the house. I have a qustion for hulabalooo where did she found him in the garage come from?

I would think the children would have been overcome before the father.
Why would the wife not want LE to search her house?

This could be a possible entry in the "Wives who murdered their husbands." thread.

I saw this on the morning news and right away thought the wife had something to do with it because they said she would not let LE inside to investigate. It's sad how right away you think the spouse is guilty. I hope I am wrong.

About the children not being as affected, could it be because where they were in the home there was more ventilation?
No matter how this came to be, it's sad a 35 year old man is dead and their children are now without their father.

I'm not sure whether this thread should be in the up to the minute category, Wives who offed their husbands, or Crimes in the news. There are so many different stories floating around as to whether the wife is still in the hospital. Some reports have said that she is and she's ok. Others say she's receiving treatment.

It's just so hard to say, because of right now we have no evidence that it was a crime.

I apologize in advance for being nitpicky, but carbon monoxide is not CO2. That is carbon dioxide.

Ahhh, what's the correct abreviation and I will correct that. Thanks!

Eta: is it CO?

It is CO, but folks may not recognize it. How about just "gas" since the relative is suggesting that it was actually something else?

Oh heck with the abreviation. Let's just say Carbon Monoxide! lol.

There does appear to be a garage attached to the house in one of the links if that's their house the police car is in front of:

Maybe they should check the carbon monoxide levels in any vehicles? What if the man was rendered unconscious through some time of pill or gotten into the car somehow and then someone hooked up a hose to the car in the garage. Later on the wife and kids come home and there is a gas leak in the kitchen or somewhere?
