Quote from the article:
A hotel security guard with a lengthy arrest record sexually assaulted a teenage spring breaker early Monday, then threw the girl from a sixth-floor balcony, according to Panama City Beach police.
The girl hit two lower roofs and landed in a second-floor stairwell, suffering serious, but non-life threatening injuries...
The cops are after Shawn Wuertley, age 29. His MySpace:

And this is probably his Yahoo 360 profile:

This guy is a psychopath, and if he's on the run, no one is safe. And way to go with that background check, Sandpiper Beacon Beach Resort.

Steve

Yikes! The guy had an outstanding warrant and the cops let him go? Someone's head should roll because of that.

I'm glad the victim survived. I hope she is able to mend completely-physically, and emotionally too.

Can you just imagine this poor girls family getting a call? One of your worst nightmare's right there. See, is it me or do we teach our kids not to trust anyone period? I'd know the difference between a rent a cop and a "real" one, but these kids out having fun? Then again this nutter just grabbed this young lady up. This kind of stuff gives me an ulcer. No background checks, nutters on the loose, and cops who free up crazed maniacs. Prayers for this poor kid, and her family.

"A hotel security guard with a lengthy arrest record"

What the...? Those two don't belong in the same sentence.

But wait, it gets even better:
(from Steve's link)
...investigators did not run a criminal history check on Wuertley until after he was released. That’s when investigators discovered the Indiana arrest warrant on a burglary charge.
“We’re certainly checking into why that wasn’t done,” Humphreys said. “It should have been done.”
I hope the girl recovers and I hope the family sees some justice criminally and financially.
I bet he's been stealing from the rooms too.

From his my space page:
I do all things full force,

Sounds like the Panama City cops shouldn't preform their job so carelessly.:furious:
This pondscum should never have been released. The current charges should have held him. Never mind his having an outstanding warrant.:furious:
He fippin raped and tried to kill this young woman. He should be in a jail cell. :behindbar
Unbelievable.....

Police said the attack happened about 1 a.m. at the Sandpiper Beacon, where Wuertley was on duty. He apparently had taken a liking to an 18-year-old hotel guest from Tuscaloosa, Ala., police said.

Humphreys said Wuertley grabbed the girl, took her into an empty room and sexually assaulted her. Afterward, the two began to struggle and Wuertley pushed her over the balcony, he said.

Hell, call me old fashioned, but when I was single, "taking a liking to someone" meant that you asked them out to dinner and a movie.

What a moron. Hopefully he'll resist arrest and get tasered in the crotch.

I have to laugh at Sandpiper's website. They have a real cute pic of a family on their home page, yet these are on their "gallery" page...a little different tone here:

I was just hoping for some pics of what the place looks like. (I went into the "spring break" area accidentally!) The resort tour is on this page:

Looks pretty, but I don't think I'll be staying there. It's big enough where they should automatically do background checks with a legitimate company.

"Wife" has a Myspace. There's a baby on it so I refrained from posting it. Same simple faced punk on it though all happy with his wife.

That's a big joint, TM. I wonder how many other "security guards" they have? This is why to this day my siblings and I put furniture up against the door and bring along our own door jam. I kid you not. Lord knows how many people got keys to them rooms. Then again sounds like this poor girl was innocently just outside. Yes, I do set traps in hotel rooms.

Wow--that's just amazing that she survived. My heart goes out to her.
